Spectacular catch by BTJ being held and face mask and still caught it 💪 🐆
That was a highlight moment for the night, I was happy to see him flip the script from training camp.
Look up Washington’s hand size. Pretty sure there 10”. Built like Mickey Mouse. Not too worried about the line considering it’s KC and we were missing a couple guys.
You’re right about his hands, small frame but they’re huge.
Brother. Love the channel, but he didn’t fumble the kick off return. The ground caused the ball to come out, which means he was down. Parker looked fantastic. Our receiving core looks deeper than it has in a long time.
If I said fumble on the return I meant near fumble, he just can’t make it that close or offer those opportunities.
Parker had an amazing game. Not sure what we’re calling Parker out for 😂
Just the near fumbles, I'm actually thrilled with him and didn't mean for it to come off as hate if it did.
Jaguars showed a lot of promise and I hope everything goes smoothly for us in season.
Braswell looked really good last night...I am liking him
Our LB's gonna have to help vs the run...but I am excited about Maason Smith and his upside.
I was impressed with Josiah Deguara last night...dude is a Big Strong TE who can catch! I hope he makes the team because dude looks legit!
Thanks Jacob enjoyed it
DUUUVAL! I have renewed faith (which usually precedes the team kicking me in the nuts, but maybe it will be different this time).
I dont think Roy will be cut, but he definitely isn't really showing much. I would be okay with trading him, but would really like to see more out of him if he does stay.
Not to mention the fumble on the return came from his blind side. Not much you can do there
Thry ruled parker washington down by contact each time. It wasn't a fumble and recovery. I agree that he needs to be careful though because it could easily go either way.
Run game and blocking was horrid but pretty much everything else satisfied or really impressed me
Yeah, that’s about where I’m at.
Playoffs or die
Similarly to Lawrence, I’d have waited through the season even though we’d test against the Free Agent Market. Paying top CB money for 1 year of top CB production? I hope that he stays healthy going forward, I am glad we are starting to retain players though!
Totally get it, but I think you can also consider some new contracts were incoming next offseason or for some earlier. Sauce Gardner will get paid next year and both Pat Surtain and A.J. Terrell could before then. I think they’re trying to beat the market.
Martinez flashed some ELITE moves last season and i hope he improves bc he might be a top 10 rb
He had some flashes in the last game I watched of him, I just didn’t see it consistently enough. He’s one that should rise by the end of the season though.
2024 Positives : Ryan Nielsen as D Coord...D-Line should greaty improve over last year..O-line SHOULD be better...Anton in year 2...Morse big upgrade hopefully..WR room looks GOOD..and we know we can count on Engram and Kirk for production if stay healthy. Biggest thing we need is Trevor to step up and become Good to Great EVERY week. Our D MIGHT surprise people and be our secret weapon. Negatives : Rest of Division and our schedule are both TOUGH..still worried about Oline..and Press Taylor play calling.
I think Doug P has to be questioned about BOTH of his original Coordinator Hires. Caldwell was a MISTAKE.He was in over his head and bad scheme. Press Taylor calling plays was a mistake. Those are BOTH Doug P decisions that did NOT help us.
Our d line could have been Josh Allen, Aidan Hutchinson, Arik Armstead and JerZhan Newton. Top 3 d line in the whole league. Baalke as a GM is a nightmare.
Would've been nice, but unfortunately we can't fix their mistakes. I do think it'll be fun to look back on the differences a few years into the future and see what turns out better. I definitely think the Jaguars have missed a lot of opportunities.
@@cardiacatsbrand I just feel bad for Trevor being another huge talent that the Jags organization lets rot behind a o line in shambles and a spotty defense that can’t protect a lead.
Hopefully they end up proving us wrong, but I definitely have my own reservations as well, primarily coming down to the offensive line play, lack of physicality, and the 'we've arrived and deserve this' mentality.
@@cardiacatsbrand I wish we are wrong. I want Masson to be the steal of the draft but it’s a lot to ask of someone coming off an injury and lack luster college season. Like you said, just so many missed opportunities.
What does “MEN” stand for?
Mentality, basically if they can overcome a bad play or start to crumble
Broddawg is honestly great when it comes to writing up these contracts. He just takes forever to get em done 😐
It’s well written, he just has to make sure he doesn’t drive the debt up on the credit card just because the limit is higher. Much better deal than I expected them to have to give Lawrence.
Had to make a few adjustments right after this video went out. Turns out salary cap management is difficult(who could've known), and the way I had set up most of the cap hits on extensions wasn't accurate. Basically, guarantees start being fulfilled at the time of the extension and normal signing bonuses are split from the season they're signed through the duration of the contract. This impacts quite a few deals, with the major ones being from the 2021 draft class. In addition, some of the older players that got extended didn't have proper cap hits that reflected the intention of the contract. For example, Josh Allen's deal involved him being paid $50M his first year, then $25M each year after. This is an issue because it essentially guarantees more money than intended. For instance, if he was released or traded after the fourth year, he would've already been paid $125M when he was supposed to have just earned $120M which matches the $30M APY of the contract. It was a nightmare figuring it all out and took the majority of a day, but it should be properly reflected now. Instead of $11.6M remaining in cap space for both 2024 and 2025, it now shows $2.2M remaining in cap space in 2024 and $3.9M($17.2M if going off higher salary cap limit projections) remaining in 2025. On the flip side, more cap space is available from 2026 and beyond because there isn't as much deferred money. In addition, since Etienne's guarantees didn't cover three years of the extension, I adjusted it to a three-year extension at the same APY, five years in total including the rookie contract.
GM Shorba has a good ring to it… and these roster moves? LET HIM COOK 👨🍳🔥
I have a dream… of a Jaguars team that doesn’t spend hundreds of millions in free agency… and drafts multiple starters a year.
We can get a superbowl nod with better play calling. We have the talent.
That would help a lot and probably the most, but I do think we’re behind other teams in our roster construction which hurts us a bit. Still, too much talent to not succeed and this year should say a lot about the guys in charge.
I somewhat agree with you on Trevor Lawrence. Several of his years have been disappointments and I don’t think he’s been real consistent. That being said, I do think it was the right move to sign him now with quarterback prices spiking if you wait a year could cost you another $10 million a year, just like with the Kirk deal the Jaguars are trying to get ahead of the curve and not behind it
Yeah, I think most likely it ends up being the best move, not sure if it saves $10M but it’ll save a bit. It was just a move that I was afraid of given the absolute worst case scenario, even if unlikely, sinks the team for the next decade. I’m about 80% confident he’s a Super Bowl caliber player.
@@cardiacatsbrand even worst case, he’s SO much better than the bottom we have seen here in Jacksonville. At worst he is better than half the leagues starters and with golf making 53 million, love coming up on extension that will more than likely top Trevor and the big one to move the stick will be dak. He could make over 60-63 million, because of his no trade and no tag clauses
I get that, I just think that not having a Super Bowl caliber guy would be worthless because that’s the big goal. I’d rather be searching and trying than playing with an above average quarterback and a team with a ceiling. Not that Lawrence is gonna be that, but that’s the worst case scenario for the extension.
I'll take these kind of problems over poor QB play any day
For sure, but neither is better.
Still dont think C. Robinson will make the whole season for us. If he does then I think we let him walk in FA. Would we get a comp pick in said situation? If so I think thats the route with him.
Depending on whether or not we spent in free agency, we would probably get a comp pick. My guess is we get a fourth for him in that scenario.
You deserve way more views, awesome stuff
Thanks, we’ll get there someday!
I also wonder if they would be willing to push some more of certain contracts money into this year since they have some cap room this year. Kinda makes me wonder why they backloaded all of the free agents contracts if they have this much room anyway.
I really think getting btj in the draft if he works out is huge for this team if we would have signed ridley we would have had so much money pushed into wide receivers all of which I don’t believe can be true wr1s even though I like Kirk and gabe for how much they can help lawrence
Yeah, that’s gonna be a massive assist, just need to get more starters outside of the first round consistently. That’s the main issue.
Oh man, long term roster building in incredibly complicated! The fact that we seem to be in an improved position after resigning/extending our best player on offence ad defence is the most impressed I've been with Baalke's work so far.
Yeah, it’s hard to understand. Basically cap numbers looks great this year and next but go to crap in 2026. They’ll have to start nailing draft picks to offset releasing highly paid veterans. It’s why I was advocating for them to reset the cap at the start of this offseason and not spend that much.
The JAGS GM is horrible he needs to be fired .. 49ers did not want him and we don’t want his ass here he has not anything as a GM he doesn’t know how to draft lots of other GM”s get fired but we have a owner who doesn’t care at all ..
The frustrating part is that he didn’t do anything to earn the job, he was simply the only guy employed who could do it.
As a Clemson fan, I really do not like makuba he always got beat and whenever he get a pic it was because someone else was doing the work
Yeah, he was a massive disappointment both years I watched him for scouting.
Also no trade clause
So lets say we extend him again in like 29. Does the void get pushed down to the end of THAT contract? or does it still hit the same years?
I believe the prorated bonuses, what you’re referring to as void, can’t be moved again, so they’d have large cap hits in a couple following seasons from the second contract(the one just signed).
Franchise type quarterbacks are not paid for what they have done but they are paid for their upsides and their potential. That's the reality
Completely agree, you just have to be right or else. I think they will be, but my philosophy on it would be that if there’s time you have to be 100% confident it’s the right decision.
I actually like the deal. Basically we got Trevor for next 7 years avg around 40 mil. With the last 150 of the not guaranteed is awesome.
Agree we have bigger problems if Trevor is not right guy
I am very happy they extended him. I think the number per year looks too high to everyone but the way they structured it is perfect and I really think that Lawrence is the guy and deserves it. To me if his touchdown number can increase with better vertical weapons this year then I think this deal is amazing and well worth it.
People talk about Touchdowns and I agree more would be great. But I think he has the 7th most total TDs in the past two seasons, which is impressive considering back to back 9-8 seasons.
As a colts fan all I have to say is this. YALL HAVE TO BEAT HOUSTON MORE THEN WE DO. The Jags 53 man roster should be better than the Texans just because where your franchises are at too diffrent points right now.
Hopefully we both just manage to sweep them and send them back to reality. The division is wide open right now.
@@cardiacatsbrand and that’s the wild part It honestly shouldn’t be.
With all due respect who are you to say where Ryan Nielsen should put Jar Jones he sees this man daily on the field slot/outside
So are you saying that I shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion because it disagrees with a coach on the team? There is such a thing as people in our organization being wrong, whether or not this is. No one's saying you have to agree with me, I'm just giving my thoughts on it and you can see my expand upon it in the film breakdown on him. He could play outside if he has to, but his final two seasons indicate heavily that his ideal role is playing inside, especially if he can develop as a tackler and take advantage of his instincts in run defense.
I appreciate yah honesty on this channel. One of the only Jags channel that’s objective about us.
For sure! I try my best to be objective and honest about things although I do sway back and forth being overly optimistic or pessimistic. I do think it's a fair take to say they might have jumped the gun, the move will probably be for the best, but there's that small risk of being stuck in a hard place for about half a decade. It's just too much to bet for the minimal incentives you're rewarded for being right.
Hendrickson acquisition would stunt Walker’s growth taking away reps. I would LOVE Greg Newsome, that’s a nice find bro!
I still think they'd be able to get them both on the field a lot, but it would definitely limit Travon's reps a bit. It'd be an all-in championship move. Greg Newsome II is definitely the most logical move for the team, he's essentially another Tyson Campbell but has a lot of ground to make up in run defense. He's probably worth a second, but I think they could get him for that Minnesota fourth and some change on top.
@@cardiacatsbrand we’d be able to use Greg like the Rams used Ramsey in the Star position. He can follow whoever, wherever due to his versatility in the slot unlike Tyson. Unfortunately, Tyson is strictly a boundary guy.
Yeah, Newsome can do it all and he’s said he’s fine with it as long as he gets some time playing outside.
Crazy how cb & edge are still needs when we had everyone available in the 1st round.
Yeah, I'm having a bit of doubt there myself on what I had personally wanted. I would've still done the trade but drafted Johnny Newton. Looking back at it, I think the best options would've been to either stick at #17 for Dallas Turner or Jared Verse, or they could've moved back up from #23 to snag Quinyon Mitchell. BTJ has a lot of upside and could be great, but he felt a tad risky for me to love him as the ideal first-round pick.
When is the option date for M. Lattimore?
@@carltonc.1218 Late August I believe
60 turnovers to 58 pass tds...1 playoff win....."franchise"
It's fair to have questions, I defintitely have some myself, but we're all gonna have to bank on him being the guy because there's no alternative where this team is anything good without that.
Cin aint gonna let go of Trey Hendrickson go unless their season falls apart again due to injuries...other than that they will ned everyone they have to get out of the brutal AFC North
That's why I said you'd have to give up a lot to get him, but I think the move would give you a shot at a Super Bowl.
Some of your observations are spot on. I would do it as long as as jaguars have a out because I rather have younger players we could mold into a better jaguars football team
For sure, I feel the same about building younger and specifically through the draft. I do think that I'd be taking a shot at Greg Newsome II though, he'd be a perfect fit for the team and his price should be low for what he's really worth.
I think a large part of this is to let Tlaw know that he’s the guy. By doing it now it avoids a huge looming shadow over the next season
People gotta understand, the way the market is trending on QBs we will be seeing billion dollar contracts within the next decade. People thought Russ and Watson’s contracts were insane with they came out, but Hurts, Herbert, Mahomes, Burrow etc are all gonna be making tons of money and each time a new QB is up for a max deal they keep pushing the line further and further. Pay Lawrence now then in a year when we’re seeing 600-700 million dollar contracts it’ll look reasonable
It'll look better as time goes on, but the guys that are up to be paid aren't the same as the guys who got the market here. Waiting another season would've probably led to the price going up a few million at most, so the incentive of saving just that every year isn't really enough to rush the decision for me. I think you gotta be 100% confident in your QB to extend them well before the end of their contract, but obviously the league entirely disagrees with that sentiment.
with the rookie year and the option isn't it like an average of 44.5M?
If you go by that logic then that means the rookie deal is really just three years and he gets paid on average $44.5M for seven more years starting now. In reality, he is valued at $55M a year and that value goes into place in 2026 after the fifth year option.
@@cardiacatsbrand Well then we are paying today's top end 2 years from now and what will be top dollar should be leap frogged several times by then.
