A few weeks ago a student of mine wanted to learn this song, and so once I learned it for him and wrote it out, I decided to have a go at my own version. I tried to combine both Bela's wild Bonnaroo jam-fest, and the tamer acoustic "transatlantic" versions, I hope this comes across!

I took the 'solo' out of this solo violin piece, injected my fiddler's approach and added some chords and flatpicked excitement! Not to mention some cloning goodness. I hope you enjoy this new take on an old piece.

I'm a day late uploading this to YT, but yesterday marked the 6 year anniversary of my favourite Tim O'Brien video, "You Were on My Mind this Morning" filmed in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado during Telluride Bluegrass Fest. I chose a "mountainier" one of his songs for my homage, but the mountain range is the same. This was filmed near Canmore, Alberta. Thanks for watching!

To play and sing is a great talent. I'm learning bluegrass banjo picking and wondered how I would cope with loosing a finger as I'm a manual worker. You have an obvious disadvantage and you have still manage to be absolutely awesome. I'm amazed and impressed with your skill levels that puts more able people to shame.
That's great news, the world is a better place with more banjo. Keep at it; once you reach a certain comfort level on the rhythm stuff you'll be able to start incorporating singing too. I couldn't sing and play banjo at first either! As for the arm, I was born with it so know no different. Thank you for the kind words!

Nicely done! I made the decision to pick up the mandolin about 2 years ago and am loving it. But I tried to learn this one and it defeated me utterly. Maybe after another few years of practice.
