Corn Tortillas - the third in the "Pulled Pork Tacos" series
มุมมอง 403 ปีที่แล้ว
Delicious corn tortillas. The hardest part is getting the consistency correct. Too dry and they will crack, too wet and they will stick. It's trial and error so practise, practise, practise. I used: 200g masa harina 240ml warm water 1/2 tsp salt

For the spice mix, I used: 1 each of ancho, mulato and pasilla chillis 3tbsp cacao nibs 1 dried bay leaf 1/4 tsp cloves...

Vegetable Gardening Update

It has been a strange year so far for weather, amongst other things! We have had the wettest May on record, yet I have the worst hayfever I have ever had. Not sure why...... It has also been much colder this year so growth has been slow. But here is an update of how my veg patch is doing.

How long do we leave it till it's pickled ? My aunt uses a recipe passed down through generations of her family, ( my dad's brothers wife) last Xmas she had made pickle cabbage for new Year but also said anything on the kitchen bench you can nibble/ snack on if you wake up. I'm 55 but have always been hyperactive and sleep only 3 hours at a time , she's 92 and I felt so bad when she got up at 6am and heard me chomping her cabbage. And I had just left the night light on so it didn't wake anyone, apparently my chomping and mmmm ! Oh wow, OMG! Mmmm delicious! Unconscious noises woke her up, I felt really bad for waking her up too, funny how when you haven't seen family in 45 years you all fall back into your rolls from childhood, I'm the youngest, apart from my children, who were mortified by my actions as much as I was. However she is a farmers daughter and a brilliant cook / baker/ chef, she and our Grannie cooked for QE2 many years ago on a highland royal tour, and my aunt and cousin were invited to her last garden party in Scotland, .y Aunt and Dad's mum also received a letter thanking them for the most delicious wild Scots pine smoked Salmon caught by my Uncle and smoked by him and Aunty Betty. I have never pickled anything, am useless at cooking and I found your recipe as I want to make a bowl of pickled red cabbage for her. Hers was chunky but it was supposed to be left from the 15 December till new Year. I bought a red cabbage Today, hers tasted spicy, is that from the mustard? I really want to take a jar of my attempt up for her for these Xmas/ hogmanay, I'm useless at chopping, would a decent cheese graters slicing but work? I don't have time for ordering a new one, also if I shred it thin will it pickle quick enough? . Your recipe looks the most traditional and I don't want to ring my cuz because well I ate the entire bowl leaving only a couple of tablespoons of cabbage and I want to make amends ❤. I tried another recipe a few weeks ago but it developed mold on top and looked horrible. Should I cover it with cling film or tinfoil? Oh gosh I hope you see my comment and can give advice. I can't chop that fine as I don't really cook .
@@SiennaArtsandCrafts To be honest, it never lasts very long in our house and is usually demolished within a couple of days. I think it would last for about 5 days in the fridge, but I have not tested that theory. Cover with cling film, not foil as that may react with the vinegar. You could use a peeler to get the cabbage nice and thin but that may take a while. Chunky is also fine if you chop with a knife. I just like mine thin. This is not a pickle that you put in a jar and store for weeks. It is more of a side dish to have with things like cold meats. I like it on Boxing Day after you have had lots of rich food on Christmas Day. I hope you like it. I am making mine on Christmas Eve to be eaten between Boxing Day and New Year.
Hello I live in Sweden so the flour is not available here, but ordered from England, the ultra fine flour. I was so happy to find your channel!! You explain so well and seem to bake so well 🙂 Now I'm going to open my bag and make your mushroom pie! Hoping for more recipes....😀
This looks really good. I'm just gonna make a bone broth and add the pancetta. To have with my steak an Eggs.
You can get a special glove which will protect your hands from one of the Chinese shops
So sorry, 2 yr later, where and what is it called? I need to make pickle cabbage for my aunt and family after an insomniac night when I ate an entire bowl of this, it was supposed to be for new years day. It was chunkier but my aunts 92, and she added other herbs or spices, garlic maybe I don't know, but I want to take a jar of this up to Scotland for her to make amends. She wasn't cross, but maybe inside she thought I acted selfish so I want to give back Only problem is I'm the worst cook in the universe. Gloves would really help. And any other tips please.
Great Charl, looking good can’t wait to try some xxxx
This looks soooo good 😍

Thanks for sharing. I will have to try this. Please, tell me where you bought that gas burner from, I love it. Thanks
Hi, I think I got it from Go Outdoors or Millets. It is a camping stove and takes a little gas canister. Very handy and doesn't have a loud fan like the induction hob. They are not expensive.
Thanks for sharing its very helpfull for me.I will come back again.. Best wishes #KitchenGranny Heike
I am really pleased you found it helpful. Thank you
