What’s the next step if this doesn’t work

To those people with new laptops, like 2021-2023, possibly newer too - on some (or maybe all?) Dell laptops - it won't power up, after extensive period (or not so extensive) of not using it. This happens even if there is power in the battery. The quick solution is to plug the AC adapter and it will power on. No idea why this happens, probably just a bug, but so just you know - and try this , before taking the laptop apart :)

i got desperate and simple set a timer for 30 seconds and pressed the power button down for 30 seconds. let go, pressed once and it turned on

Good evening, it is 2024 and I got stuck with a black display after replacing a faulty fan on my Inspiron 15 model 5570, I have done some of the tricks here advised but to no avail, question: is the back cover has to be put back in place in order to try the fix? A seven year old video, and sill helping people. Followed your video and my laptop is up and running again. I read somewhere that you have to unplug the CMOS battery too. Didn't know where it was and if my vostro even has one. Anyway, anyone know why this happens do Dell laptops?

In some cases dell laptops may not start (or even react to attached power brick!) if CMOS battery is dead. It may be a circle metal thing with CR2032 on it or circle-ish thing in a yellow sleeve

I had a laptop down for 6 months. The computer decided not to boot. No no KB lights and nothing on the screen. I did have blinking lights on the front of the laptop. I had purchased a warranty at the time of purchase from Amazon and had filed a claim. I was not able to work on it until today. I had sensitive data on the laptop. I followed the example in this video and the laptop started to turn on. Thank you.

With open lead put your laptop upside down. Doesn't have to be fully open. Just upside down. Now with power cord disconnected press power button for minimum 30 seconds. Put your laptop back to upward position. Connect your power supply to your laptop. You should now see the power light on your laptop somewhere. Press power button and laptop should get up. I belive there is a sensor inside the laptop which always knows when laptop is Up or upside down position. Now with combination of procedure above it resets some power components, don't ask me why. In my case once laptop get power back up I noticed my battery was completely drain si it looks even in default conditions it still needs to have some power in the batter for start up and it did not matter the power cable was connected or not. Why? Hmmm, looks like Dell does not want to use longer your laptop then the warranty it has and is asking you to contact and pay for extended service/warranty.... just my guess. 😎

Is there an explanation regarding why this works? Is this a permanent fix or will it happen again? Please anyone who has info in these 2 questions let us know. Thank You
