From an old school taper,this is an excellent audio and video recording What your rig setup?..just curious..
Sorry I’m just seeing this! Pretty simple setup: Audio is a pair of SM81’s to a Zoom H6 panned to about 60% stereo. Video is my Sony FX30 + Sigma 28-70/2.8 shot in 10bit 4k60. Sync’d with very light post production in FCPX.

It still kind of boggles my mind that I can experience high quality sound and video from a taper. I don’t know how much you fiddled with this, but the sound quality is excellent.
The audio is basically raw, in FCPX I just pan to stereo 60%, click the button to normalize loudness a bit, and use the built-in music EQ curve. Takes less than 90 seconds. I think the real difference I digital recorders - and I only record 24-bit wav, not 32. I mean it has to be digital recording, because the SM81 was released in the 70’s and tapers often use far nicer mics.

Still amazes me how back in like 1990 I lived in South Sacramento and my girlfriend and I would go to this tiny little (but nice) bar near out apartments and see Cake play. This was before their first album even and they were I think only a three or four piece band. But we loved seeing them there with all the other 12 people who came. It’s fantastic to see them still at it and doing well!
Yeah to be honest I was kind of surprised how great they still are live. Some genres of music are just timeless and they can still make it happen.
Such a missed opportunity to just start right at the drop... They should have had a longer intro music so they could fuss about and be ready for the drop. C'mon guys.
Saw these Guys at House of Blues in Orlando years ago. It's still my favorite live show I've ever attended. I went in a fan, but didn't expect to be blown away like that. I guess I expected something more quiet and unassuming, but they played with such confidence and swagger. EDIT: they do seem much more low-key in this performance some 20 years later. We all got older and slower.
He is singing seriously out of tune and it sounds terrible.
@rmkensington Yeah, it's not great. It did make me wonder, "How high was I at that show?" Pretty high. Still, I choose to keep those good memories intact and avoid watching any more live performances from these guys going forward. It really just proves what I always say, Good friends make good times.

Tired of seeing these boys plagued by technical difficulties and sound issues. I think sound issues have occurred at like 3 of my 6 shows. Frustrating to see my favorite band experience so many bumps on their road to the top. I’m here for it all though, thanks for the recording. Wish they put out more vids!

Yeah lots of good sounds here. I also loved what they were doing in Must Come Down, I hope I get to hear that live again very soon. Maybe next time I see them there won’t be the constant jackhammers and road construction in the background.
