Thanks for sharing, great work on your journey! Early 20’s here…I definitely notice a difference when I go through periods of not drinking vs when I notice I’ve been drinking more often or consecutively. Especially having a totally clear mind, and as someone who works out and has a family history of kidney issues it is important that I take my health serious while in my youth. ESPECIALLY after COVID and society getting used to sitting down more and looking at screens. My friends are on their health, wellness and mindful journeys as well so we are able to share a drink or two, but we work out together as well, and hold each other accountable for periods of non smoking/drinking/sweets etc. So I am currently sharing the link to this video to them as well. I just hit three months on my bday (9/29), and some of the folks at my bday dinner really had an issue with me not drinking. Although I didn't end up drinking, I did start to wonder if maybe I should have a drink once and a while, just to keep the peace (very Libra thinking, lol). But I know how I am - one drink will lead to two, then five, then shots. Same old, same old. My liver and my wallet are good on all that, lol. One of the biggest changes I noticed, is that my intuition has been off the charts since I slowed down with the drinking. The things I just "know" is wild. That alone makes me want to keep going. And seeing that you just hit two years, and are still living life to the fullest, I'm just going to keep going. Being the DD isn't all that bad 😅. Thanks for the good word, Rome. Always appreciated.

Thanks for this, I’ve actually been thinking about it. I was telling my fiancée that me personally I think I will quit drinking after we get married this year. I don’t drink often anyway but I noticed when I do especially when I have more time on my hand like recently being unemployed or during the pandemic happened I do it more than I’ve likes to once I’ve looked back on it. I’ve also been working on the no self gratification after watching that video yall made. Me and the fiancée making a purity covenant for our pre marital class has helped but times when I’ve been home by myself has honestly been tough though 😂.

I had a DUI recently, no accident just was making a habit out of getting twisted and driving home afterwards. In NY they have programs to try and curb the risks of drug driving. After going to the classes I had to reevaluate why do I drink. I'm not fully sober but I am keeping my risky, reckless, destructive side in check. I have always had the capacity to be myself without booze and I'm always going to prioritize that over everything else. Thanks for being a shining sober beacon Rome!

I appreciate you sharing your story that led you to not drinking. Congratulations on two years. Your discipline is admirable. I’ve cut back a lot but, I do struggle if there is alcohol in the room. I started drinking at 15, and I’m a Gen X-er! in my 20’s , when I would black out, and wake up throwing up, having bruises and not remembering how I got the bruises, I learned how to drink responsibly. By having water backs, and eating food, like bread, or fries. If food wasn’t available I had a signal to let me know when to stop. If I dropped an F bomb😂 In my 30’s I became a bartender, and learned what alcohol doesn’t mix and how the more sugar in a drink makes a person more sick, and have a worse hangover. I try not to drink much because I don’t sleep well when I drink. BUT, it’s hard for me to not drink if I’m around alcohol. Another trigger is watching someone drink on tv. If there is alcohol in my house because someone brought it over and left it, I’m making a drink, especially if I don’t have to get up in the morning. Exercising discipline is key for me to control my triggers 💪🏾

That’s good for you. There are probably many alcoholics who wish & pray that they could quit overnight. It truly is a sickness. Alcohol can kill you for trying to quit it. That’s crazy! And it’s legal. Smh.

From age of 14 to now I'm 23 years old currently N the site is something that's plagued me for that long.
