Chronic Tension has a lot of negative effects in the body. And chronic tension originates from the nervous system. Once you release the nerves, you can release a lot of what is holding you back in life.
When you experience real healing, there is no question that things have improved. It's a sure thing that what you dealt with is gone or different. And when you experience this, you may feel grief. Grief that you didn't know this level of healing existed.
I hope this video is helpful. Enjoy.

    Interesting perspective. I also found your choice of words interesting. Particularly when you were talking about the need to go into your body and how we need to “move” our feelings. I’m curious why you chose the word “move” and what that means exactly. I agree with you completely, about the need to go into our feelings and our bodies. Past traumas can be held in our bodies, in the form of tension, but there is also other reasons that Body can have tension: because most people do not understand what their Bodies need. They don’t understand what Body is trying to ask them for. Thanks for sharing your views and knowledge

    I agree so hard. It’s so sad that modern and common therapeutic techniques are so part-focused and lack holistic understanding so deeply that they don’t usually work for a lot of things. I had the same experience as that guy. Until Feldenkrais and somatic I didn’t know what it meant to feel regulated, not in pain or grounded. I injured myself so much in yoga and just kept doing it bc I didn’t know how to listen to my body. Even mindfulness practice didn’t bring me there. Learning to intentionally recognize and respond to my body may never have come naturally or with chiro or PT. Still working on it but every week a new breakthrough. Trying to hold the intention not to be bitter about the time wasted with all the appointments and money wasted. That’s a part of it I guess ✨ awesome new setting for the vid x

      Yup. I find it interesting and sad that the control aspect is all about making it “law” that only approved people can have direct contact with the spirit world or god. And that god is supposed to be outside of you when all it takes is some meditation to see that god or spirit w/e is everywhere, everything and most important, is you. I wonder how it was originally. I am sure it was a lot more similar to eastern philosophies when Jesus was really teaching - the witch/mage that he was!

    There is a Boulder Back Pain study (published by JAMA in 2023 I believe) that proves that mind body treatments are VERY successful compared to placebo. Alan Gordon (Author of The Way Out: A Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven Approach to Healing Chronic Pain) was one of the people directing the study and working with the participants. You seem you feel you are alone in this message but there are so many in the space and Dr. John Sarno (author of "Healing Back Pain" and other books was working (at NYU Rehabilitation Hospital ) and telling people that they could recover from their pain by this approach over 30 years ago. Aside from the Dr. Sarno people, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, and other modalities also get this and help people heal from chronic pain and other symptoms. This is a growing area so if you don't want to be getting this word and want to be doing something else you don't have to be doing this as there is a whole industry now.

    Dude this is really cool. Love the different ways to imagine/visualize/focus on the feeling of relaxing. That awareness kind of grows even after just a few reps where I can really start to identify and get familiar with the feeling and help with gaining control of the relaxation. I kind of feel like in a way it's similar to some toe exercises where I'm trying to do stuff like lift the big toe and not the others and vice versa. It's like a practice of reconnecting the mind to the body or something. Strengthening neural pathways or some proper term I don't know lol.

    Since starting practicing Qigong, I've come to the conclusion that all those years of going to the gym and lifting weights was not the best for me. It puts a lot of force and weight on limited movements and in movements you really don't use much in real life. I also developed a tight, rigid, and uncoordinated body with no flow. I can still do strength work in my practices but in natural movements and in flow. Wow it has really improved how I move and flow in sport and on the motocross bike. Just learning to read your state and let go of tension allows you to move so much better. My flexibility is improving but it's not something that I'm focusing on at this point. I didn't realize how uncoordinated how I was in how I moved. I'm also trying meditation a bit and breathing work. This type of movement work also teaches you to move in a relaxed state which is interesting too.

    What has helped me be more aware of my body is to literally sit in silence and stillness for like 30 seconds a day and then slowly ramp up from there. When I say stillness, I mean other that breathing I am completely still ignore the itchiness, hair tickling my face, cramps, aches, pains, like completely 100% still, not even a twitch. It is a lot harder than it sounds but it has helped me get in touch with my body and thoughts in deeper ways.

    I've recently been thinking a decent amount about how I feel like my nervous system is just shot. I sometimes get slightly shaky like I've just had way too much caffeine and I see on my garmin watch that it shows I've been stressed damn near all day every day. I recently became free from my corporate job and am slowly working to develop better daily habits and routines. I need to set a schedule or I just avoid everything. So going into this work, I'm not sure I follow. Are we talking about body scanning and trying to consciously identify places where we are physically holding tension and then relax that body part and practicing awareness of that with the conscious relaxation? Lot of good talk and points in this video and the background makes me miss the forest (I'm in southern AZ).

    • @artofopening
      @artofopening 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is very conceptual talk. It’s a general understanding of what needs to happen. I find it incredibly huge to just have this understanding which is why I’m spending so much time on it. As for specifics, you can work on releasing tension in meditations, stretching, or standing. But generally once you start working with tension on a real level, you are constantly working on it throughout your day.

    I battle self doubt and self sabotage, I discourage myself from things that are working. I have used your catalog of videos in my rehabilitation efforts, but this self destructive behavior is insidious with its ability to sow self doubt I think I could benefit from assistance from a coach like yourself. Your work is so intersectional that it's not clear where I might go to find someone and what to look for. Can you elaborate the process of finding a coach?

    • @artofopening
      @artofopening 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Be as humble and curious as possible. Seek out coach’s/mentors that you resonate with and feel you can learn from. You’ll know when you see and feel them. Don’t expect them to do anything for you. Come in with beginners mind and learn as much as possible from them. Be a sponge. Then move on the next mentor/coach, or head out on your own and apply, apply, apply.

  • @cristinacuciuc2046
    @cristinacuciuc2046 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Yeah, as a first step, you got to embrace that awareness of yourself, be curious and explore your being, choose to come up from that place of fear and other bad, damaging, low vibrational feelings that ultimately create the emotional, psychological and physical tension. Then you do the work.. the breathing, the stretching, the meditation.. make good choices for yourself. We do have to keep in mind that this is a continuous process and we got to be mindful of it, generate a state of presence as much as we can. It is a slow process, at first it would seem like you don't see much change but staying on the path will allow your nervous system to reboot and write new programs that are beneficial and serve your intentions.. I mean, now you are the pilot, you get to decide the route, the speed.. and the cherry on top is that you also get to enjoy the scenery.. I'm at beginner level (shout out to all "Worms World Party" fans out there!) .. just started to acknowledge myself.. you know.. process my emotions and breathe.. Thank you Mitch! It’s Central Sensitization….when our brain becomes hyper vigilant to internal/external stimuli, and overexcites our nerves thus creating pain in our body. Long time Fibromyalgia sufferers (like myself) are experts at this overstimulation of our nervous systems…without proper understanding the key origins of our body pain, it’s impossible to heal/lessen our pain. This constant, chronic pain will leave our bodies completely fatigued, stiff, with improper REM sleep.

    • @SandySez
      @SandySez 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's taken me 3+ decades with Fibro to figure this out! I began to understand that my nervous system was involved, but framed it more as a casualty than a culprit (still focusing primarily on the chronic pain), until finally, I'm focusing on the nervous system and neuroplasticity as 'the root' of it all.

    I was raised in a sedentary household with my grandparents. They worked and took good care of me, but we weren’t active at all, nor was there an emphasis on eating healthy foods. After living 38 years without working and fighting opiate addiction, and not eating healthy, I started working and eating only whole foods. The job helped me get out of active addiction. And I’ve never felt better emotionally and physically. I had to take charge of my own health and wellbeing by starting out ASAP. There was no change or reward in staying sedentary, addicted or overweight for me. I sought out a physically demanding job in hardwood flooring to keep me moving from the floor and up, numerous times in a day. This is my best advice for anyone seeking major change in physicality, and emotionally. Eating whole foods was the clutch to my increase in energy and muscle repair. These are the most effective and simple steps anyone can access.

    Great video but there has been 3 ads so far right when I start to relax. Maybe you don't have any control over where they are placed. Thanks for great meditation videos.
