    I’m getting ready to embark on installing the AEV RT 2.5 in. lift on my EcoDiesel JT. Any tips or advice you care to offer before my journey begins? I’m nervous about fighting to remove the OEM upper control arm bolt. The instructions mention rotating the axle forward is the bolt is removed in order to angle it away from the exhaust. It also mentions lowering the exhaust too. Besides that step everything else seems pretty straight forward. BTW, are you in the Air Force and if so what is your AFSC?

    • @LowlanderNate
      @LowlanderNate 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That bolt is tricky for sure. I ended up using a large screwdriver as a punch and knocking it out the backside with a hammer. I’m sure it scraped some shielding a bit but it worked for me. Sadly I was not in the Air Force, but thank you for serving!

    I recently installed this damper on my Gladiator Mojave version. It made a slightly noticable difference. The bolt and nut AEV sends with this damper has a loose fit in the square top part of the mount. If you have a pre 21 and a half model year truck your bolt is probably correct. If not, do yourself a favor and get the pre 21 bolt and lock nut for this setup. It made a noticable difference in the feel on my rig.

    Nice job. It looks like you put in a different track bar than the factory one. I dont see one that comes with the kit either. Just winding if it’s necessary to have a new one or if the factory one can be used.

    Buy cetane diesel fuel addative: Diesel fuel combustion depends on the auto-ignition quality of the fuel. Super-Tane improves diesel fuel cetane rating from 4 to 8 points, thus improving fuel quality, combustion and engine efficiency. Higher cetane diesel fuel makes your diesel truck, car, boat or equipment run more efficiently and more quietly, gives you more power and makes the engines easier to start while cutting down on black smoke emissions and DEF.

    Yea the fuel costs more than gas. But a gas Gladiator on the same trip, same load would be lucky to average 20 mpg, never mind 27! So you take that into consideration, that’s like 33% better. So if gas is say $3.00 gal, like here in Florida, with diesel at $4.25? Again that’s ? 30% different. So it’s close at the cost per mile. But it’s the relaxed power driving up through the mountain passes with no downshifts, that would be least 2-3 gears on the gas truck. The best a friend gets in his gas Gladiator is 16 city depending upon red lights and traffic 18 if both are very light. , 24 highway at 65. What do you get, remember to add in the altitude.

      @LowlanderNate for whatever it's worth I installed these last night. You can actually grab the lower control arm and pull/roll the wheel backwards just enough to get a pry bar in the bolt hole between on the geo bracket so you can get the LCA bolt in. Once LCA was in was able to get the UCA in the geo bracket (also completely removed the UCAs) I got this idea from JK gears and gadgets, saw him do same. If not, I probably would have done the same thing as you. The instructions are terrible

  • @user-my6zh8rd8v
    @user-my6zh8rd8v ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you ever reinstall the upper control arm heat shields? The top hole for the bolt can still be accessed, but the geometry correction brackets block the side mounting hole. Curious how you may have attached it.

    You are not pronouncing the sub model correctly. And you referred to the DEF filter regeneration instead of the DPF. The reason you are having trouble with it needing to regen is caused by in town driving and idling to much. Instead of the Def system operating properly it is sooting up the DPF and having to inject diesel into the DPF filter to burn it out. That is why you have very little DEF consumption. Look at the Banks Videos and they explain how the complete system works 👍

    At one year with mine, and almost 30,000 miles. No issues. GD tune, running hot shots additive. I'm only getting 24-25 on the highway, but I have a rubicon with stock tires/rims, stubby front bumper, and half rack with rooftop tent. These engines like to run. They don't do well sitting around waiting for recreational use. They really do best when you run them a lot. Mine is my daily driver unless it's nice out (then I run my motorcycle or electric unicycle).

    I am curious about your fuel economy now that you are lifted and have 37s on it. I have a Wrangler JLU Sport EcoDiesel. I got mine lifted in December and have 33s on it. My average fuel economy dropped 4.5 MPG from January 1, 2023 to August 2, 2023 versus all of 2022. What has your experience been? I love the look of the lift and the slightly larger tires and don't regret my decision to lift it.

    • @LowlanderNate
      @LowlanderNate ปีที่แล้ว

    Diesel is the real deal on a hardcore off roader like this. I have done the math and even with more expensive maintenances and DEF refilling, it still comes comfortably on top of the gas V6. The added engine cost takes you some miles to upset it then it becomes a savings machine. All this without even mentioning the added durability, reliability, and all mighty torque !
