I have a Rane One and am trying to midi map the samples from Mix Emergency to the sample pads on the Rane One. How do you assign them so the sample from ME is only activated with the sample pad is pressed? It seems to assign the samples to the pad itself so even if I select a hot cue the sample from ME triggers.
New user here. Great tutorial. I know you did this awhile back, but where did you get the video you loaded to the media sequencer? looking for these to use in my setup as well.
Question about your midi mapping Joshua. So when I fire off a sample on my serato controller, I mapped a sample to trigger in ME (eg airhorn/djLogo). However, no matter what pad mode I’m in, the particular pad triggers the logo. Is there a workaround via advanced midi mapping or something I can do?
Which controller- I believe there is a way, depending on the unit. In some I know you basically have to use a custom pad mode, and map both SDJ & ME to it.
@@djjoshuacarl thanks I’ll try mapping to the custom pad mode (Rane four) 🙏 ♥️
thank you for this tutor its well appreciated i learnt a lot now
10 mins into the video and still haven’t learned a thing. SMH
“Im gonna cut the banter”….”Been a busy week, Celtics are in the playoffs…”😂 Just bustin your balls a bit 3:00 into the banter. I’ll keep watching
Hahhaha… guilt as charged!
Hello! Great video, thank you! I have a question though: How did you get the lights paired with the software? I know the MOKA SFX and Both Titan 2 lights have Wireless DMX. Could you show or explain how to do that (when you have a moment)?
It’s not something I can really explain in a reply here but if you just search “connecting wireless DMX” there are quite a few instructional videos, but it’s pretty much as simple as pairing your transmitter to the same channel as the lights, and then selecting a DMX channel and you’re done. As far as getting the lights to move to the music as I mentioned the video that’s utilizing the Chase sequences that are available in SoundSwitch
Thanks for the info on Attributes. I'm going to try editing them on my lights now. 🙂
This was a pain to watch you struggle figuring out to remove the screw from the hex post.😢
Just about to do an install. Without me trawling through 3 hours of footage what do you mean please?
Hello Joshua! I have a quick question: I've been using Soundswitch (and investigating about DMX for the first time with it) this week using a gigbar + 4 both 360 titan tubes. I created using your tutorial a few autoloops and attribute cues. However, when I autoscript a song the autoscript ALWAYS use the same attribute cues which makes the lights a bit repetitive. I know I can go into advanced mode and select priorities there, but is there something I'm missing to avoid this? If I create a blank project and autoscript a song it feels way more dynamic without any attribute cue created... Dunno if I explained properly, would highly appreciate some help here, I'm sure it's a pretty simple thing after all. Thanks!
Yeah, you have to go into the advanced part of auto scripts and add them there, if your attributes are in a folder, you have to open the folder on that page, and pick a bunch. For my autoloops I went in an added them manually. For scripts I let them go wherever
@@djjoshuacarl the only problem I see when I do autoscripting is that it always use the same attribute cues and going advanced for each song feels like a step back... thanks for the quick response btw!
Why have I not subscribed up until now?! Great video Joshua!
This is really fantastically well done for people to get started with attribute cues and these lights. I actually didn't realize they didn't work outside of 12 channel mode - that's weird. Just a small tip - when you're giving credit to something you ah-tribute the credit. If you were going to get a new hat with some cool characteristics they'd be the hat's (h)at-ributes. Just a pronunciation thing because English can be dumb. I love how you focused on keeping colors consistent - way too many lose that.
Hello, great video dude! Please could u tell me how can I find such video samples you are using like the Homer Simpson for instance? what's name of those video format? Best
Bruh …this is amazing! We’ll done …I gotta get mine set up like thsi
Thanks man!!!!
A colossal waste of time
This is one of the best videos for SoundSwitch! I have watched them all Daryl Bennett. You break down into simple steps to create a beautiful light show!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽Thanks Marty… if it wasn’t for Daryl, I wouldn’t have figured out 1/2 this stuff; dude is crushing it. Luckily the SoundSwitch community has a lot of Fart-Smella’s who don’t mind sharing their knowledge 🤪
what macbook would you recommend to run sound switch + mixemergency + serato stems
ME AND SS are very low stress. But stems can be an investment … I wanted zeros hiccups, so I balled out and got a 2023 m.2 16” -- it doesn’t even flinch at that workload
@@djjoshuacarl appreciate your insight, some of my dj friends think those macs were a bit much but none of them really do stems, video and or soundswitch, I currently do stems and mixemergency on a 2016 16" and it goes ok but I know I could push things alot more.. my 2016 will be a good backup but def be nice to step upto a m1 and m2
@@dannyillness 100✅ But the way technology is advancing, if you happen to the kind of artist who “likes their gadgets” you are better off erroring on the side of too much today; and just enough in 4 years. That being said; I have a handful of homies on 2012 mbps, and some on scratch live. Just really depends on your own personal end-game
@@djjoshuacarl cheers man, I have bitten the bullet and invested in my dj work and brought my very first brand new macbook 2023 m2 16" every other macbook and dj laptop I have and used have always been 2nd hand and usually done me well but is cool to get a new machine and looking forward to see the creative stuff im gonna do. Thanks for your info and insight ... one request I am keen to put to you is how do you setup your macbook or what would you recommend to optimise and get the best out of your mac, be cool to get a clip of you giving a breakdown on how you setup your mac or things you find useful
what is the competitor to jammtext you mentioned ? I can't find where you said it
Flyboost IDK if they are in business anymore
Where can i get those video drops? Or what are those files called? On the sample bank
Basically you create a file with an alpha channel. Then, in the player tick-box the “ALPHA CHANEL” box. And the back ground will disappear For the moment we were rendering these as HAP (codec) but I’m actually looking into a newer codec as HAP is antiquated. In a pinch, you can remove the background sometimes by changing the blend-mode on the sample (to screen, and a few others) I did these all in premiere. Drop me a message in IG, I’ll send you a few to get started
@@djjoshuacarl Hi I was wondering we’re can i get the sample bank (Dam son we’re you find this )
thanks
Massive tutorial - thank you so much!!
I stream on twitch and dj with music videos. I use OBS studio on a separate windows PC. I’m currently using Serato Video on a Mac😊. I go out of my Mac Book HDMI into a capture card then into my separate windows laptop PC. Then bring it up as a source…. Is it worth moving to Mix Emergency? Serato Video is working fine.. What’s the difference between Mix Emergency and Serato Video between?
Thank you 💪🏾💜

THIS IS SO GOOD I HAVE LEARNT A LOT TODAY ITS BEEN A YEAR SINCE I STARTED MY TH-cam CHANNEL WITH VIDEO MIXING BUT I NEED TO ADD THIS SMALL IMPORTANT THINGS. JAMMTEXT AND THE NDI MEVO IS A MUST HAVE THIS END MONTH. 👊👊👍👍
is there a easier way to play drops without emergecy.emergency.. like set one in a desktop or that animation that pops when it goes to sleep..
This was awesome Thank You for creating this
Glad I could help!
number on rule of djs from the 80s never ever use to many effects in any mix
It doesn’t have a dedicated sample volume knob. I think the go around there is to remap the second mic volume knob to the sampler volume control.
It doesn’t have a dedicated sample volume. Lots of people are remapping there 2 mic knob for the sampler knob.
!
Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. Your video helped so much and it still was a bitch to install!. Much respect!!!
2h57 pour monter un innofader ??? 🤪🤪🤪
Can you post a video on how to do this?
Prettt sure thats what this video is lol . There's plenty on TH-cam. Its pretty simple no soldering needed. Mine comes in today so this will help me out
I use a cd and wax paper underneath the platter.
There is a sampler volume. And it’s been there from the beginning. U push the shift and. Use the beat knob to raise n lower
Ayyye great one; learn something new everyday---Funny that when I mentioned to Rane/InMusic, they just didnt say that!
@@djjoshuacarl yeah it got me at first until I watch another video and I was like ok so don’t feel bad. A lot of people don’t know one of my friends was about to remap when I showed him it was there. By the way how you enjoying it. I love it I never get bored with it
i have pioneer DDJ1000 Rekordbox, i am thinking of replacing it with rane-one dj controller, do it or not? thanks!
That’s really a style/preference question. I would say if you sticking to mostly electronic music, not a lot of scratching and whatnot the 1000 is great on both RKB AND SERATO. But “that feel” of a moving platter is legit for sure . I’ve never been a cdj guy, so for me it was a long times coming.
@@djjoshuacarl use to used technics sl1210, just sold it out and got this ddj1000, still missed my 1210's, and still has all my vinyl collection, huh, trying to sell them too! just got used of rekordbox, and just contemplating if i go with rane one or just stay with my ddj1000! i am not a turntable list, just clean mixing, my thing! free style mixing!
@@DjDandyLiveMixing I hear that, I’m dying for SkratchAttach to come out! (tone-arms for the ONE-- not that anyone but us care about still spinning vinyl. But it’s great that it’ll be an option on the unit. It’s the Cole’s thing I’ve ever felt to vinyl, I even like the response better than the Rane-Twelve
Thanks you for this sir .. I’m just discovering you October 10 2021
Nice man! What delay did you use then?
great show

Good stuff! Thank you.
my right deck doesn’t show the loop number like yours just shows left deck
Really good points about Keylock - Is there anyway to set more than 5 cue markers in Serato DJ Pro? Would be a shame since there is 8 buttons per side on the 72. Anyone know? NO mention in the official Rane page.
You don’t mean cue points do you? You can do 8 per channel. I have to be confusing what your asking bud .
@@djjoshuacarl - Ok - I mean inside the software "Serato DJ Pro" - there is quick keys if doing a beat grid layout or other edits when you are 'offline' (setting up a file) and the quick keys only give you 5 cue points per channel - serato.com/latest/blog/17257/pro-tips-serato-dj-keyboard-shortcuts - I wonder if there is a key combo to make up for the 3 extra .. if you can understand what I mean. Yes I know you can make 8 cue points while actually spinning live no problems.. just talking about pre-production. :) Cheers.
@ yeah, you have to shut off performance layout of the pads, or maybe its jeat jump. one of those toggles view of all the cue points
@ oh oh gotcha, being able to fire the cues. Not really. But there are work around. Try the SeRato IOS app, or get a simple midi app and map all the cues to that. But not in the keyboard.
Can you do all of these things on the Rane 70 too?
there's no screen, all these tips have to do with the screen
where'd you get the skin for your mixer?
dj_soo 12inchskinz
Joshua Carl magnetic?
Joshua Carl also, been using the mixer for like a year and a half and I didn’t know about the key lock on/off on the screen! I’ve been using the control in the transport pad mode all this time...
Great video. Straight and to the point.
