This channel started out as a overland channel. Travelled South America, North America all the way to Alaska. After that crossed Canada and the U.S.A to ship our Land Rover Defender to Europe. This was a nonstop trip that took twenty one months. Back home in South Africa the content still includes trips around Southern Africa. I am now doing some Black Smith work with the odd video. I will have content of British Motorcycles being ridden( Vincent, B.S.A Goldstar and Triumph Tiger500).
Vincent 1000cc, a legend in the mountains.

"Plenty of English oaks" Very apt for the king of English bikes. Well done sir for using it as intended rather than just a display in some motor museum. 😁
Spot on with your observations.
Back in the 60s i bought a Vincent Comet single. I loved the high footrests, girdraulic forks and flat Vincent (straight handlebars) ..in my wildest dreams it could have been a twin, but for £150 it was all i could afford. A new Shadow was £250 at the time and way out of reach for a teenager
@@CollinSingleton-c6g The Comet must have been quite new when you bought it.

Does anyone hire out Vincents by any chance?
@@edwardwilson4974 I don't think so. Definitely not in South Africa.

Your Vinny sounds great, sounds like she wants go to 6000.
Great ride Phil!
@@ericsmit7588 Thanks Eric.
Very cool , what a great Heart beat !
Thanks, winter has just set in here in not sunny Devon. I'd better sort out a dji for next summer. When the Vincent was younger we had so much less traffic and better road surfaces, still know where the best kept secret roads are though. I think of my Harley as new at 26 but that's not much less than the Vincent was when I started biking. Terrible image quality short on my channel. Must try harder but I'll leave the baffles in. Have a great summer and good luck with your channel.
Time flies, this Vincent is 70 years old. It makes a lot of sence to improve the quality of your videos. That way you can watch them over and over again.
WOW!!!
Love the speedo bobbing up and down on the girdraulic front forks. Bout the closest I will get to that view, thanks.
A brilliant ride on a proper bike loved the crackle on the overrun .You cannot want more from an old stately English motorcycle 😊
Indeed old chap.
nothing sounds as good as a big Vinnie!
Love the sound. Braaaap!
My grandfather died last week in his late 80s and he owned multiple Vincent's over his lifetime. The one I remember sitting on when I was very little, in the late 90's/early 00's, was his last which I believe was a C Series Rapide. Sadly that was sold very soon after as he hung up his riding boots and used the money to buy a Volvo estate. At the time my father was more into modern sports bikes so it made sense to sell it (although I think in hindsight collectively we wish we had stayed custodians of it now 😅). Currently, I ride around on my 2011 Kawasaki W800, but at some point I have said to myself I will own a Vincent. (For now) finding and watching these videos are about as close as I can get to having an idea of what he would have felt. As others have said keep these videos coming, there will always be someone that is truly interested in these magnificent machines !
@@RQBassist Sorry to hear about your grandfather. This Vincent is also a Series C Rapide. Luckily it should always be possible to acquire one of these for many years into the future.
Superb
Excellent! Is this is the road that was under repair some while back, and it is still not finished. A lovely ride though with very little other traffic. Many thanks for posting this one Phil. Chris B.
@@453421abcdefg12345 Hopefully it will be repaired before next winter.
Keep them coming, appreciate someone making these style videos about the Vincent. Most are just kept in museums and don’t see the light of day.
But, what’s with the clutch lever?
The lever is the decompression lever. Used only to start the bike.
What a sound!! Nothing like it!
Best bike video i have seen! Phantastic bike, super landscape, best sound! How did you manage to capt the sound so well?
@@manfredruhmer6355 Thanks. It has taken me some time with many test runs to figure out a way to avoid wind noise. I use a separate microphone and recorder inside a "dead cat" housing.
@PhilUys the work was worth it. To hear so clearly the sound is the difference to other videos, where they impose you to hear some awfull music instead! Thanks for the answer!
i`m torn... cape whit eye singing ,and that beautiful bike..... just kiddin`they`re both awesome😉😍👍👍👍
We have tons of those little birds that make more noise than the Vincent 🙂 We have lived happily together for the last thirty years.

Il rumore del motore è una sinfonia di Vivaldi ! 👍

Beautiful machine! 👍🏍🏍👍
@@johngarrity7777 Thanks.
vl'a la merveille!!!!
Not beasts. Hand made motorcycles with good roadholding and excellent brakes for the time. Top speed of110, maybe 120. Their beauty was to cruise at 80 all day, purring like a cat. I always found anything over 80 was uncomfortable unless you had a fairing or laid on the gas tank. The unique Rollie Free achieved 150 on a specially prepared model, lying flat on the machine after shaving his hair off, having a bathing cap painted on his head and wearing swimming trunks and sandshoes to comply with the protective head, clothing and footwear rules. Superb machines, now objects of investment and speculation.
@@kevinmoor6408 It is true over 80 mph the wind wants to blow you of the back off the seat. That is why I have a sheepskin for added friction. It does not look pretty but it works.

Vincent's ain't the fastest thing anymore, and havnt been for many decades. Get over yourself. 😂

is that a rocket stove made out of a huge turbo???? if it is, its ingenious... please tell me you have a video about the stove?????????? very very well regards guys
No, it is not a rocket stove but works more like a wood stove. Front load for wood or charcoal with good air regulation. The chimney can take a metal grid to boil water or even make a potjie from the heat escaping. The other nice thing is that it is cast iron and holds plenty of heat for heating purposes when out camping. It is also not a big turbo although it looks like one. It is an AIR BOLWER similar to a water pump. The innards have been removed. I added the steel door on the front and the air regulation slide at the bottom. It looks cool and works really well. I named it ' The Black Mamba'
@@PhilUys Jis Oom, daai is a nice gadget and design. My channel is/was about prepping and that would make a flippen nice addition to prepping gear, also for long term accommodation. Much regards to the design and initiative.
Try revving it over 3000rpm - it might go a bit quicker!
Those birds were hilarious - as you started the beast - 'oh no, he's starting that thing again.' This motorcycle is from an era when the British really could make things...and beautifully as well. These incredible machines are rare and much sought after. Thanks very much for the lift!
An interesting fact about those birds. They are very recent in our province. They have migrated some 1700km south. The beast will chase them back north again.

I know how legendary this bike is (my father had one many years ago), and that the quality and riding experience is the most important here, but just out of curiosity... What is the fuel consumption? I mean... It's an old-fashion big engine, with a (deliciously) very low rev... I want to have an idea of how it compares with modern bikes. Greetings from Brazil! 🇧🇷
I have never specifically measured mine but the literature says 53mpg or 22.5 km per liter. What would modern bikes do. The Vincent is 1000cc.
@@PhilUys That's actually pretty good! It's equivalent to a 250~300cc!
