Replacement MK4 1.8T Camshaft Position Hall Sensor
Re-upload from my other channel (2015).
In this step-by-step video I am replacing the camshaft position (AKA Hall) sensor on my '03 GTI 20th. I used the MTC branded sensor from ECS Tuning. My car was throwing the P1340 G40 camshaft position sensor 028 incorrect allocation code. There has been an intermittent slight rough idle where it dips ~50RPM then returns to normal.
UPDATE 12/14/15: CEL has not been on for a couple months and the idling has gotten much better since the sensor replacement.
Thanks for watching!

    Following the video and after removing screw holding the “fly wheel” it is stuck. I could not pull it off. Assuming there is no other screw holding it on, how can I get it off without breaking it??? Thanks.

    I keep cranking my engine to expose the ignition rotor screw but it's like it doesn't exist. I've checked both sides, where the copper strip is and the other side. Why isn't it showing up!!!!

    Hey I just wanted to thank you for this video , my 2000 Honda wouldn't start last Saturday and I am not much of a mechanic believe me. Anyhow I had power so I new it was the distributer and by watching your video I was able to put the ignition coil in myself it wasn't as quick as you did as I had a couple of screws that were stripped but I got it done so thank you so much.

    Sorry bro, don't monitor every comment. And you're correct, I'm not an expert. I just did a video on how to replace the ignition coil. Ask your mechanic or a Honda dealer how to check it with a multimeter. Honestly, not even worth the trouble. Just replace it anyways.

    Thanks for the video. My car died on me last night while i was driving a drunk friend to get some taco bell. Traced the problem down to the ignition and thankfully had someone pull in and offer to give me a tow. Your video helped me out greatly in replacing the ignition coil in my 99 civic EX. Thank you very much!

    I drive a 98 Civic Ex for a month now and recently it started to shut off on me randomly. I was going 45 mph and boom, it shut off. I had to pull over and reignite the car. It started up perfectly fine, then it happen again the next day. I ran a scan and two codes appear; 0135 oxygen sensor and 1362 ignition bypass. Which one should I attempt first to fix this problem!? Help please.

  • @tubeacount

    Hey. My 2000 civic sometimes has a rough start. I've changed 3 out of the 4 spark plugs(4th one won't) come out. I changed the plugs as well. Do you think it's a good idea to change the ignition coil? It mostly happens on a cold start. Warm engine start is no problem.

    The car seemed more responsive, not much power gained to be honest. You need serious engine and drivetrain work to get much power out of these engines. But do expect more mpg and better response once you do both installs.

    A new Ignition Control Module was $110. An entire rebuilt distributor was $200. I just bought a new one and it works like a charm.

  • @slicknick50
    @slicknick50 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's an interesting one, and here's what I'd do. Go ahead and check all the easy stuff. Spark plugs, wires, and distributor cap. Make sure the distributor connector isn't corroded and it has a solid connection. Other than that, I'd try a new distributor.

    I replaced my coil about 3 months ago and my car was running fine. Just last weekend my car wouldnt start and i checked the spark and there was none. I assumed the coil was fautly so i had it tested and the resistance was a tad high so they gave me a replacement. I put the new one in and it still doesnt spark. Could this be the ignition control module is bad? Please Help.

  • @7eat9productions
    @7eat9productions 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video is the best I have seen so far!! If your car cranks but does not turn on it's your ignition coil. If one day your car was working perfectly and you came out a few hours or the next day to turn it on and it doesn't then it's your ignition coil. But first check all your fuses and see if you have fuel. also check if you have spark with the spark plug wire; screw driver trick. If no spark it's your ignition coil!

  • @slicknick50
    @slicknick50 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I honestly don't know. I sold the car so I can't test it out myself :(

  • @slicknick50

    If buy a tach kit brand new, they usually have instructions on how to do so. If not, your local shop could help ya out and probably not even charge you. Could also try searching Google, I'm sure plenty of others have installed tachs.
