UK65/US65 with 0802 - 19000kv vs. 17500kv
Both whoops fly very similar in this comparison.
At the beginning both fly the same, but after voltage drops, the 19000kv gives an advantage of a little bit bigger thrust.
all-in-all both fly at similar speed, but I prefer the 19000kv
it just feels better, that's all
Same configuration on both flights, only motors are different.

More efficient motor for the UK65/US65: betafpv 0802 17500kv

Searching continues for the best motor for indoor brushless whoop. I would really like to know why the 0802 motor is so much more efficient than 0603. Is it the larger stator diameter or is the number of magnets: 0802 has 9n12p configuration, 0603 - 9n10p. Someone should try Racerstar 0603 motors with 1mm prop-shaft, which are 9n12p not 9n10p like these which have 0.8mm prop-shaft (I don’t have...

Nice one! Man I am loving the mobula!
Hi, have you tried the happymodel 19000kV vs the BetaFPV 19500kV (roughly same kV from 2 different manufacturers). But initially, my BetaFPV 19500kV has pretty short flight time, only 2:30-2:50 on 300mAh. Under 2 mins for 250mAh 1S. Looks like your Happy model 19000kV on 240mAh already has much better efficiency than my betaFPV 19500kV. My setup is 21.9g and I've made sure that the connector is cause of voltage sag (changing new connectors few times and used solid pin PH 2.0)
Hi, as per advertised the 0802 1700kv are optimised for 2s. Will those motors run on 1s too ?
They would, on this video they run on 1s. Although I would rather recommend 19000 kv for 1s if you want to fly faster.
There is a bug or something with 0603 and blheli_s that causes excessive regenerative breaking. That's why 0802 are so much more efficient.
what is the total weight with the battery installed?
In the description: AUW: 35.5g (all up weight)
nice flving and comparision, but do you really need crossfire for indoor :)
Yes. But not for range but for smaller latency. Flying in small spaces require fast response which is much better with crossfire. And also I must say that indoor there are much more 2.4GHz noise from wifi which also makes frsky less ideal.
Great video and flying. How are you not having a lot of battery sag? Is it the xt30 connectors?
Exactly, XT30 connector are much heavier, but they give so much less battery sag that compensate for the weight. You must remember that new PH plug might work fine, but after few cycles of connecting the battery they tend to get hot during flying (which indicate some resistance and voltage drop). XT30 you may use few thousand times without any degradation in performance. Thanks for your kind opinion.
I changed motors 0603, but when I started to use 0802 they didn't have enough thurst to elevate my us65 ( uruav frame, original props). Can you guess why is happenning this? Filter, configuration, blheli issue? Please help me, I don't want to waste 4 0802. Every motor turns un the right direction, It doesn't look like a motor fail, although It could but turning when they should.
What was the kv of 0603 motors and what was the kv of 0802 motors?
@@tomaszegowski16070603=19000 kv 0802=mobula 7 original ones, 19000 kv
I really can't think of the cause. How heavy is your whoop with battery? us65 original props as far as I can remember have 0.8mm hole, 0802 motor have 1mm shaft. Did you have a proper hole in props (are they sitting firmly?). Check if all the motor connection is ok. Wiggle the connectors. With battery connector do the same. Reset all the flight controller settings, reset all blheli settings.
The 0802’s are pulling about 3.5 amps, while the 0603’s are pulling 5.5 amps... That is a HUGE difference.. I am pretty amazed at how much more efficient they are..
I doubt he had a current sensor there so it's probably the virtual current that guesses amps based on prior calibration and throttle position.
There seems to be a problem with BHeli_S that makes the 0603 use 30% more power that it's supposed to. No joke. It's documented on this homepage mshtools.co.nf/2019/03/01/0603-vs-0802/ For some reason BLHeli_S applies active braking on every PWM cycle on the 0603 motor. Normally a motor should obviously only brake when needed, so the 0603 uses up 30% more energy. Mikhail made a custom version of BLHeli_S that disables active braking, for use with the 0603 motors. But then you don't have active braking at all :/ Best advice would be to upgrade to 0802 motors that doesn't have that problem, since BLHeli_S isn't being actively developed and there probably won't ever be a fix.
PS: Both the 0802s and 0603s are 9N12P motors, I just counted the stators and poles in my 0603.
Awesome man!! How did you get the wider 450 to fit the battery holder? Or is it wide enough anyway? Thanks man
Came here to find the answer to this.
So crazy! Again, how did you wire the crossfire nano rx to the uk65 board!?!?
Crazybee flight controller which comes with uk65/us65 has a tx and rx dedicated to control video transmitter via smart audio. I used the same rx, set it to crsf and soldered crossfire nano.
Thank you!!! I managed to do it! Soldered the nano to the rx3 and tx3 and then soldered the vtx smartaudio to the ch4 of the nano :) No more D16 buggy failsafe ! really nice! Thank you again!!!
Hi! Nice vid again!!! How the hell did you wire the crossfire nano on the stock uk65 board?????
Managed to do it!!! Rx3 + Tx3 then smartaudio to the nano itself (ch4)
Your rssi keep 99,working? I now using beta65 pro 1s swap to 75mm frame n 0802 19k kv. My whoop distance to short..
I use crossfire on my whoops. The 99 rssi ('link quality' to be precise) is accurate. You need to fly really far away to get lower link quality with crossfire.
Now i am using futaba sfhss. I dnt know why the distance very close..not reach 100m. Less than 50m. What tx u use? Tbs nano rx?
Never used futaba, but if it's working on 2.4GHz in house with wifi than this may cause some problems. I use crossfire micro TX set to 250mW and crossfire nano RX with one dipole antenna situated on the ducts of the frame.
Myślę nad odbiornikiem crossfire nano. Nie widziałem żeby ktoś w tak małych dronach go uzywal .Trudno przylutować go do płytki? Mam x-lite aparature i chce dokupić moduł crossfire
Thanks for review. Now i am using 0603 betfpv motor...to fast battery drain using 1s 300mah 30c. If 0802 motor more efficient..then will change to it. Thanks
Well you've convinced me.. just ordered the betafpv 0802 17500kv motors, heh! Thanks for the video!
My pleasure.
Yeahh nice test , like
Thank you.
Dude xt30 connector ? Interesting... looks like it works pretty good against voltage sag.
Do you think 0703s be ok too?
I don't think 0703 motor is any better than 0603. All 0703 motors I've tried were in 9n10p configuration (9 coils 10 magnets). I think 9n12p is a better solution and this is the one used in 0802 motors. So in my opinion 0703 will not be OK.
@@tomaszegowski1607 k have them on my 75mm

W efekcie bateria mniej siada i dron lata żwawiej.

Dlaczego masz mieszane uczucia? Polecam jednak raczej 0802 19000kv niż to 17500kv z filmiku. 17500kv pod koniec baterii jest troszeczkę słabawe.
@@tomaszegowski1607 bo prędkość chyba podobna? a te 080219000kV nie będą też szybciej chlały lipo? a co sądzisz o 0803? testowałeś już może?
No prędkość podobna, ale prądu bierze o jakieś 40 procent mniej, więc czysty zysk.

crossfire without telemetry?
I set my crossfire to 150hz mode with telemetry. Rssi on eight channel showed on osd on upper left corner. I have been flying with a sound ringing when crossfire sets itself to 50hz mode and still then felt like it was faster than frsky.
Tomasz Łęgowski could you share your wiring? CRSF on Rx3 and Tx3? What about SmartAudio?
I use only 3 wires for connecting crossfire nano to crazybee flight controller: 5v, ground and Ch 1 out set to crsf protocol. Crsf wire is connected to rx1 on the flight controller (so I can't use smart audio for the camera). You may use one of the other 3 remaining pins on nano receiver to connect it directly to the camera to use smart audio directly from the transmitter although I never tried this solution. I just don't use smart audio. I don't use two way connection for crsf because I don't need any telemetry on the transmitter. Betaflight Osd is enough for me.
Fascinating. They say a big V8 Corvette is actually very efficient on the hwy because of the massive torque and tall gearing lets it cruise at a lower RPM. Do the props have the same pitch? If so, well maybe there are smooth bearings in the 803 vs the cheap bushings in the 603...
Both motors have the same construction and same bearings. On both flights I used same props (e010 Eachine props). In my opinion the vast difference in efficiency comes from the difference in magnets. 0603 have 9 coils and 10 magnets on the rotor. 0802 have 9 coils but 12 magnets. All motors I have tried with 9n10p configuration were very inefficient even though I tried several timing settings.
@@tomaszegowski1607 I thought the 603 used bushings instead of bearings - that's why they're kinda cheap.
Happymodel and Eachine 0603 and 0802 have oil bearings not ball bearings. I'm not sure that's bad. I had a few ball bearings go bad on such a small motors and none of the oil bearings.
Iv been getting about 3mins flight times with 19000kv and less sag than the stock motors! Any chance you can share your pids cause I'm getting vibrations/ocilation through to the camera? Thanks
Which props do you use? I use Eachine e010 props 4 bladed with 0.8mm shaft hole in which I must drill a 1mm hole. I ask because I see how less they vibrate comparing to other props. Especially the 31mm props with 1mm available at Banggood. If you use less vibrating props betaflight pid and filter settings aren't that important. But if you use more vibrating props all you do in betaflight doesn't really help. I use slightly modified project mockingbird v3 tune which you can find through Google. If using that tune you have vibrations you may have bad props (which you should feel with your hand) or bad motors. But sometimes vibrations may be caused by other factors (bad battery connection can also cause instability easily confused with vibrations).
@@tomaszegowski1607 ok thanks for the help bro. I redrilled the holes cause I noticed they where sitting a bit high that sorted it right out! My bad lol
Nice flying mate! I was thinking about buying the 19000kv motors. How hot are the motors coming back doing 3mins plus... and are your still using the stock batts that come with the ur/uk65??
0802 19000kv motors on 1s, as I was flying on this video don't get hot at all. On both flights I used 220mah 45c Brainergy battery (similar to tattu 220mah 45c). With stock 250mah 40c it flies well but you don't get any more punch, only a little longer flight. I prefer 220mah.
Will it still turtle mode with the 17500 and 19000 kv 802?
Sure. Turtle mode isn't affected in any way by this motor change.
Hej Tomasz, I really like your comparison vids and music taste. Looking for more :) Have you tried new brushless whoop props by GemFan and HQProp?
Thank you. I ordered small Gemfans, hope they will ship fast.
Tomasz Łęgowski the gemfan props are definitely good props, very durable and the only bad part is they suck down the battery a bit more but they are very good. The hq props are good and they are a bit better for amp draw but they are not durable at all. They break and bend very easily! All in all I’m pretty happy we finally have good prop options.
I'm considering replacement motors for my 0603. I like the power of the stock motor but surely flight time is pretty bad. I've noticed the stock motor power varies dramatically from full to empty battery. Since these motors draw so much less amps is the power drop off last dramatic? How's are the flying characteristics happymodel 0802 19000kv vs stock 0603 19000kv?
0802 19000kv isn't slower than 0603 19000kv. Quite the opposite. Because of less voltage sag you have more thrust. Whoop with 0802 motors is only a 1 gram heavier but you don't feel it in flight.
@@tomaszegowski1607 thanks for the quick reply. Now I need to find where I can get them quickly in the USA
Nice comparison. They almost look the same while they fly. Although the camera from the Happy Model is slightly better. Did you squeeze the lemon at the flights or where you cruising?
I tried to fly as fast as I could without crashing. I'm sure someone who is a better pilot could fly faster. The only moment I felt I was flying at the limit of the whoop was at the end of the battery with 17500kv motors. Voltage sag makes the 17500kv whoop a little underpowered.
What batteries are you using?
Eachine 250 mah 40c that are in the package with us65/uk65
Great comparison, I just brought 0802 16000kv motors as I've heard that it is more efficient and gives extra flight time. Would be interested how they compare to the 17500kv motor.
@@DigitalDamnation I'm afraid 16000kv on 1s is too slow. I flew 0802 16000kv on 1s but on a 75mm whoop with 40mm props and it was nice in home.
