Talking pure profit potential, yeah it's worth it to do even just 1 rotation of grass into silage on any field that can support it. Boils down to if that's what you actually want to do though

Don't get me wrong they can definitely be fun but you hit the nail on the head - insanely tedious without mods and/or someone else to help you. Base game they are just beyond time consuming to farm at scale

@MisterTaters yeah I like farming them, I agree its fun but as we both said: Kinda annoying without friends or mods that atleast solve the storage :D Otherwise I'm constantly driving around and dumping potatoes while the helper stopped due to the tank beeing full haha

@@MisterTaters Thanks man, you should be able to turn on super thanks in the TH-cam creator studio in settings. There should be an option to turn it on. Hopefully I'll be able to catch you live at some point, regardless still enjoy watching them through. This channel deserves more recognition. Just seen it is enabled when clicking on the dots on video, so I will sort a tip out for you when I'm with it :)

I've seen some people saying this, but I enjoyed FS25 quite a lot today and there was a lot of new stuff in game

@@MisterTaters The only one thing i wanted from FS 25 is optimisation.

When I start a game it is lower fps while all the shaders load in but after a few seconds it runs fine on my rig at least

I'd have to double check that but even if they are the same profit as canola, it takes half as much time to grow so that's pretty good profitwise

@MisterTaters Yeah fair point. I have a spreadsheet from farmercop I think. Fs likes to tweak the values.

Definitely makes it's money back quickly! That being said I wish it was a little MORE passive. Or way more passive

@@MisterTaters True. It's a good income sourcce, but it's tedious work to load all the pallets if you actually want to make money on it. I make roughly 40k per year on it so at least it's relatively profitable for me. If you grow rape or potatoes you get like a 2% harvest bonus as long as it's in range for the bees.

@@poleno49 the problem is indeed that it spawns only one pallet that you have to remove manually before the next one spawns and that there is no autosell option or distribution once you have a big production going. That being said with mods or putting the spawn point next to a shed where you can easily throw it in, it's a good source of extra income for a small bit of work. Just plop down a couple of hives next to each field and it's easy profit.

@@jasperb7890 But if you download autoload it isnt that big issue, if you dont wanna download autoload then it can take longer time.

Even with autoload I gotta go out there and grab the pallet. Handful of mods take away a lot of the tedium as jasper said but base game checking the honey every month and moving the pallets is a little annoying for the low amount of profit it brings

FS22 is my first of the series, but I do remember it was the first to have productions. And they must have patched the sunflower thing since launch since the numbers are much more favorable for oil now!

Potatoes unfortunately don't have any productions in base game fs22 so I can't trash talk them in this video! But I definitely do in my crop tier list

As I stated in the beginning of the video, my rankings are based on the base game outside of courseplay, so I don't consider those mods at all. Any crop can be made harder or easier with all the mods out there. For what it's worth though, I've used both of the mods you talked about extensively in my potato farm video, and I will tell you potatoes are still very tedious unless you go hyper-unrealistic with the Colossus harvester header

you don't HAVE to use straw for TMR but it makes it way cheaper to produce than not using it

I may return to it at some point (especially in FS25) but it would be long form videos of the whole series instead of short episodes

Oh yeah those rows were all sorts of messy. To be fair that field was a little too cramped for real potato farmin', I did what I could!

@MisterTaters The first time when you really had that big harvest and you got all of those modded potato harvesters and all of the wagons. Did you just lease all those?

Are you talking about the harvesters and trailers starting around 1:28:20? If so, yeah I just leased them all out, I think I had a lot of money coming soon from the french fries so I wasn't too worried about money, and I don't think I had any loans either
