Cool design and excellent video showing it's OK to live real life and still be able to make progress. 🙂Subscribed and liked -
Interesting idea. Looking forward to more vlogs.
Thanks!
It was very interesting to watch! Thank you! 😌
Thanks for watching!
Great video! The game is very chill, Well done. Although it's aesthetic ok, I found it quite unappealing. I think a combination of hexagons and pentagons would have worked better. As you said at 15:00, the core gameplay loop was somewhat lacking. However, the mechanics were well-executed, and I view this as a valuable learning experience. Can't want for the next video!
Thanks! I agree, I wish I could've made the planet round instead
Great vlog. I would say next time put some more screenshots/videos from your game as you go along. But you're fun to listen to, and I wish you all the best!
Thanks for the feedback! :)
Cute kitty 😊
Thanks! :)
Hey Elisabeth, Your vlogs are wonderful, please keep making them! :) I think you should be able to create a planet out of hexagons by using a Goldberg polyhedron with 12 additional pentagons. Since you have some time, I was wondering if you perhaps have looked into the Tilt Five system for your new game development?
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I haven't heard of the Tilt Five system, I'll have to look it up :)
I think people need to move away from college spending 200 grand on something you can easily learn for free just isn’t feasible or smart anymore having a house is better
Right now, I’m a Jack of all trades :( but I just use scratch to make decent games
I really enjoy your devlogs and the idea and art from unread messages. I didn't think another devlog could give me the same chilling vibe that ThinMatrix devlogs do, but you did it. Great video! I wish you all the best on your game development journey.
Thanks so much! ThinMatrix is one of the inspirations for my video style, so that compliment means a lot!! :)
Are you doing play testing?
I'm doing playtesting for the full version with just family and friends, but I also have a demo up on Steam that I welcome feedback on!
Thanks for inspiring me to get into game development 💕
Wow, so glad to hear that!! Good luck on your game dev journey, I'm sure it'll be fun :)
Running to wishlist this now💕✌️
Thanks so much! :)
horse!
Such a pretty horse !
Thank you! :)
I'm glad to see that the game's coming along really well! I'm excited to play the full game when it's done! Good luck on the rest of development!
Thanks so much!!
First gamedev video with horsefriend subplot.
I wasn't expecting a horse, great video though
Thanks!
The music is meh
Absolutely unnecessary comment dude 😭
I hate the music bro It's not cozy game when it's so loud
yaaay!!!
Looks great, I like the added bloom to the neon style
Thanks!
Yes, that was great to see your process. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! :)
Simple and effective. Its great to see an alternative to paid flashy project management tools.
Thanks! I really like being able to make my system exactly how I want it :)
This was a nice cozy video! I'd be waiting for the video on how the demo release impacted your game in the future! :)
Thanks for watching! I'll be sure to incorporate that into a future video :)
Loved this video! and your game looks really cool :)
Thanks so much! :)
4x10hr work week... is your primary job by chance in healthcare? Just wondering because I am in that boat, but for me it makes independent game development a bit *more* difficult due to being extra tired more often than not. :P
I work in web dev, but I have a pretty relaxed workplace, so I'm allowed to be pretty flexible with my hours. I definitely get what you mean with being extra tired though. Pretty much all of my game dev gets done on the weekends 😅
Are you a Nanowrimo-er turned game dev? This spreadsheet is so cute. I'll have to try something like it!
I am! I've never won Nano, but I've written drafts of a novel and several novellas separately 😊
I really like the black background on the spreadsheets, it really makes everything pop! I might just have to start doing that myself, thanks
Glad you found it helpful!!
I think your spreadsheet is brilliant, I love how you’ve translated game dev into pages and chapters, its a really refreshing take on project management
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
I think its always interesting the different ways that people manage tasks, writing, and just the overall way they portray everything. You definitely have an interesting medium, especially with the type writer. Great video, good luck.
Thanks! :)
Big fan of
Thanks!
Hey! I played the demo and absolutely loved it 😄 I saw in one of your other devlogs you said you sometimes struggle with music, I'd love to help out with that if you're open to the idea! I sent you an email, let me know if you want to discuss further 😊
Thanks so much, I just emailed you back!
Lol. I'm starting work on an indie game and was just goofing around while taking a break. YT recommended you and the first thing I see is the typewriter. I have an Olympia SM9 that I just adore. Every now and then, when feeling uninspired, I clear a desk or counter and go to work on it. Anyway, thought it was cool.
Oh cool! I have a Smith-Corona Silent and an Olympia Splendid 66. Since I'm surrounded by computers all the time, using a typewriter feels like magic :)
Good call on doing a Dev Log!
Thanks!
Boy it tough around Level 8!
Keep it up!
Will do!
creativity points awarded - a dev log showing typing on an ancient manual typewriter and cooking enchiladas
Good job on all your hard work !
Thank you!
A very cozy devlog! Loved it and your game even though it's a small, out of the league style game... It's hard to find the audience but People are there to play and keep making.💎🙂❤️
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the encouragement :)
Heres my critque Negatives: - Between round dialogue with the bot should have some form of sound effect like how you recieve a ding when the bot talks to you during the round ( really just the first 2 lvls ) - Message controls get buggy when beside each other - Id like the option to drag a path or something rather than having to click tile by tile to form the entire path. - Seems very repetitive once you learn the few mechanics. Probably introduce more mechanics untill you have enough to randomize to some extent so that each level can pull a few dif mechanics from the pool rather than having to utilize all of them each level. Just code a bunch and keep the ones that are fun. - Completing the round isn't incredibly clear untill the nice falling animation plays and the level transitions. Make it feel more rewarding for the player when they complete a round before you play the transition animation. Maybe that means having an animation where the packets get sent from starting tower to the final tower or some flashy light up animation. - Theres no scoring system. Most puzzle games balance themselves so that casuals can complete the puzzle but get a lower score and other plays can push themselves to complete a level to perfection allowing for a wider audience and more gameplay. - Background story is kind of boring. It could be great if the game had an interwoven story line with interesting interactions instead of just side of the map basic dialogue. Matching the player up against some ai drama could carry the entire game's success. Positives: - I do like the art style - Very well suited for a mobile app so long as you can make the controls work. - Could easily experiment with some gamemodes. Try putting a countdown timer limit forcing the player into a time crunch, maybe extend that and when they complete it generate an extension of the map and they keep going for a highscore so long as they can outpace the continuos timer.
Thanks for the feedback! The full game will have several more mechanics and more story content :)
I've never seen someone use index cards on a typewriter, that's so unique.
most people will click on the video to see the actual game. however, you spend most of your time not showing it. i think showing the game atleast earlier on + more footage would help you reach more people
Thank you for the feedback! I'll be sure to incorporate it into my future videos :)
Good job with the puzzle levels and difficulty curve so far (im on level 11 as I write this), I really enjoy playing around with it and figuring it out. I love the colors, pastel and neon glow on a black background with gray tile markers, it just works. Nice music, sets a really nice ambience. Somehow dreamy yet gets you focused. Good effin job so far, very impressed with the demo! Get it gurl! Wishlisted! (one last note, the reflections are a really nice touch visually). *Edit* Whats going on with this AI? My buddy was reset?! EDIT: WAIT...free will settings??? GET OUT?? Ahhh!
Thanks so much, this comment means a lot! :)
