It was a Samyang 85mm T1.8 lens with a magnifying diopter on it. It essentially just allowed me to get really close to thing while keeping them in focus 😊

I used to watch comedy whenever I was depressed. It stopped helping, so I stopped doing it. Like that episode of The Simpsons where Bart sold his soul and he suddenly couldn’t laugh anymore. I’m not sure what caused it. But I don’t really feel like going to the trouble of figuring it out.

Dwayne’s obsession with Nietzche ties in with his need to win in order to fulfill the will to power. It’s part of the same toxic mindset of superiority over others being the ultimate goal in life

there are a lot of comments on a 3 year old+ video, so i don't expect you to read this, but this video helped me through a little rut <3 Steve Carell's role in this movie helped me see that "victory" can still be found even at the brink of "defeat." or to put it into terms that don't include silly phrases like "winning" and "losing" ------- his role helped me see that I can still have hope and happiness even in the lowest, toughest places. i hope if anyone else reads this, if you are going through something and can't see the end of it, keep pushing. I did, sometimes out of spite, and I can assure you that there is hope here. i promise.

You’re basically talking about the voice of reason. Many times they have outside character being a voice of reason for the scene or whole episode. Dee was supposed to be that but since she convinced them to be crazy as the guys they alternate with that voice of reason. Sometimes it’s Dennis, other times Mac or Dee and rarely Charlie and Frank. Take that scene where Mac and Dennis say to Charlie that they don’t want a wild card for example, and Charlie doesn’t even listen and says what they say “he doesn’t even gets us man” Then Dennis says “we’re talking about you!!” That Dennis line shouldn’t be that funny, if you think about it as a punchline it’s nothing special in what Dennis said. But since it was setup by Charlie’s madness the line is hilarious. That’s the recipe in comedy shows, you got extremely dumb and selfish, even mad plus the voice of reason which kinda represents us the viewers. I think you’re talking about that.

I mocked this film as hope porn for a long time cause I thought love or happy endings or finding help to come out of depression was just sth that movies cause they sold good. Also cause everyone I've been growing up with just obsesses over work instead of facing their feelings, so I thought it was the norm. But the other day I met a stranger and saw that he was feeling the exact thing as me, and I swear I felt alive. I wish I had been open minded longer.

Sephiroth from the original final fantasy 7 is another great example. You don’t see him for ages but you hear about him and see the aftermath of what he is capable of in a slow buildup. He kills all the guards in shinra hq after they capture you, he kills the massive snake that one shots you when you first fight it… just a beast of an intro
