    New subscriber here your channel says 517 I think you should frame that five dollar bill. I love old Ford trucks I have a 1970 Ford F 100 short bed with a big block 390 it was my first truck. I'm sad to say this but it has been sitting in the same spot for 25 years and there was nothing wrong with the truck or motor just minor repairs and money needed. Congratulations on your channel you have made it over the first big step that is starting the channel. On the topic of motors 390 and 460 both good but parts for a 302 are probably cheaper and easier to get.

    • @HilltopRetroShop
      @HilltopRetroShop 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks a lot! Yeah I need to find me a good frame that I can hang it up on the wall in lol. That’s awesome, I kinda know how you feel with how long it’s taken me to get my Camaro back on the road. It’s been in pieces since 2016 and had I know it was going to take that long I’d just drove it for a couple more years and enjoyed it. I’d say the 302 would be the more affordable option but would it be as fun? Lol idk I figure I’ll ride the 351 out for as long as I can and if something goes bad on it, then cross that bridge and decide what to do then. Thanks for the sub!

    I had a 77 F150 ranger 2 wd. Yes all those things I said were an option for the year look into it. Anyway. Mine had a 351 modified in it. I easily put 150k miles on it. Sounds sick a/f with true duals and flow masters. If you're building a race truck go ahead and yank that motor. If you want a daily with tons of power tune it up and leave it alone. Yeah maybe it's not everyone's favorite but that sucker will last! I had a hard time finding performance parts for it. That was the only downfall.

    • @HilltopRetroShop
      @HilltopRetroShop 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Nice! My dad has a 77 F150 custom 4x4 and he has a 351M and loves it. It’s really gonna be a cool parts getter / daily so doesn’t have to be insane.I’ve heard it’s alittle hard to find parts for them but I havnt checked myself.

    • @captainchristianguy3307
      @captainchristianguy3307 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@HilltopRetroShop you can find them but they're expensive. I had mine for 8 years and drove it everywhere. I mean everywhere. Only thing I can suggest is mine had a 2 barrel 2150 carb. I replaced it about once every two years. The crap they put in the gas here tears up the seals. That's about it other than tune ups and oil changes you're gonna love it! Sure it's not a FE block but the power you'll get will whoop a 302 and it's definitely enough. I can't praise the reliability enough.

I built my own true duals and put two flowmaster 40 series on it. It sounded menacing. Like it was better than a big block for some reason. Bone stock. Well, I pulled the exhaust manifolds and honed them out at every angle lol! Burned up a few stones. Totally worth it.

The Big Blocks just sank in the real mudholes. It actually seemed to run pretty good. Again it was just a smog 350 but one of my heads were cracked and the 305 heads were the quickest fix. Long story but honestly it ran pretty good with them. I ran it that way for several years without issue.
