Merry Christmas 2024 Jasmine. Like the old timey jazzy hollywood christmas music.
Thank you! Hope your Christmas was merry & bright!
Just discovered your videos! I enjoy your friendly approach it reminds me of a very kind neighbor suggesting some fun places to visit! Thank you
@@nintendogamedude Awww, thank you so much!! You made my day!!
Neat train ride 🚂 Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas! Hope you had a good one! 🎄🎄🎄
Thank you so much for re-visiting this railroad! Whilst visiting from England during Easter this year I was able to ride the Balboa Park Miniature Railway down in San Diego. I have friends there and visit as often as possible, I would love to spend more time up in Los Angeles County though. I've only spent one day of my life in LA when I arrived on the Sunset Limited Amtrak sleeper train into Los Angeles Union Station from New Orleans. I'd love to see you cover Union Station, it is a stunning piece of architecture and a destination in its own right in my opinion. I could easily spend some time there and not even catch a train♥️
Thank you so much!!! Yeah, Union Station is a gem! It is on my list to cover it. It's not only historically rich, but is still used every single day, by Amtrak, and also as a connector for the Metro trains & buses.
Good evening Jasmine, I've just woken up, 7am Monday, I'll take all the video in when I'm properly awake... Merry Christmas 🎄🤶
Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄 Hope you had a really good one!
'Not (s)he who begins, but (s)he who perseveres' is the ship's motto because the Vespucci a training ship that was specifically built as a sailing extension of the Naval Academy for the cadets at the end of their 1st year, from June to August, so that they can have a taste of the hardships of being a sailor in a pre-technological navy, but also learn how to be an effective leader as soon as they graduate from the Academy as Midshipmen. The reason is simple: once onboard, the cadets are treated as common sailors: they keep the ship clean (yes, including shining the brass!), climb up the masts to operate the sails, and perform the most menial tasks you can possibly imagine IN ADDITION TO their regular military training. The scope of all of that is to teach them humility, tenacity, patience, and respect for those who may not hold a prestigious rank, but with their daily work, still help the ship go on. Developing such a high degree of awareness eventually 'maketh the man (or the woman)', i.e. produces an officer who is a gentle(wo)man, polite, professional, and gracious, but also very mindful of the (wo)men whom he or she will be responsible for as a future officer. That is why, for anyone to be successful, it is not enough to start a training path: you've got to persevere up to the last bit of that path, at which point, you'll be able to lead others to do the same.
Thank you so much for this info! It makes a lot of sense and should be the training for all military (and leadership positings in general) -- having respect for what your subordinates do is so important. Again, thank you for this info! I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
Hey I just remembered Las Posadas on Olvera St starts monday night, Dec 16.... If you get there early you can get a nice patio seat at the El Paseo Inn Restaurant.
Thank you for this info! I didn't get a chance to get there, though. But I have it on my list for next year! Hope you had a great Christmas!
There's nothing German about this. Just a bunch of tent on a damn parking lot. Cash grab😢.
Have you been to a German Christmas market? What's it like? This year I had 2 relatives who had milestone birthdays & 2 high school reunions to go to, none of them in California! So 4 trips back to my home state of KY. Not complaining -- I love spending time with my family & friends! But I really do want to go to Germany at Christmastime and experience a real Christmas market. Maybe next year!
@JasmineApple , the closest is Biergarten in Huntington Beach and Sawdust Arts Winter Festival in Laguna Beach.
I am loving your video's, it is your Griffith Park & Southern Railroad video that caught my eye to your channel today. I'm from England and have been to SoCal twice, i cannot wait to return, i would move there tomorrow if i could.
Thank you so much! You've made my day! I've never been to England, but it's on my bucket list!
@JasmineApple when you come to the UK I would definitely advise you to go to Edinburgh, Scotland followed by a visit to the Scottish Highlands. The further North West you go in Scotland the more beautiful the Highlands become! I really want to hike to the back of the Hollywood sign when I next get to travel♥️
Entirely too expensive, but thank you for sharing this wonderful video!
Thank you! I agree, it is expensive. But I still had a blast!
Great video Jas. So what else is on your christmas adventure list. Hope it's Griffith park for the train ride and zoo walk. (I miss the free christmas drive thru by L.A.D.W.P.)
I miss the free Christmas drive thru as well! I'm gonna try to get to the Griffith Park train ride -- not sure I can do the zoo walk, though!
@@JasmineApple I never knew about it until I saw a mention in the LA Weekly back in 2004. It only started since 1995 by the DWP. They used the same "corny" lights every year, but it was kind of comforting to know what to expect and the "music" playing while you drove by. I worked in Van Nuys in 2008 and drove past griffith park every day, so I would always stop by to see the lights until they stopped for awhile.
I hope you go to the farmers market too 🎄
I'll be out of town for the BH farmer's market, so I won't be able to make it!
Rodeo drive doesn’t do tacky Christmas decorations 😂 everything seems so classy 🎄
No, they do not! It's one of the reasons I like going there!
Thanks for the video Jasmine... Why do I see homeless like skid row, etc on TH-cam, your videos makes it look not as bad as some say... Excellent decorations, Have a great Xmas if I don't see you before 😊
I don't know that I've ever seen homeless in Beverly Hills. It's a separate, incorporated city from Los Angeles with its own fire & police. Their higher-income/peoperty tax revenue means they can hire more police per square mile than LAPD. So they aggressively keep the homeless out & crime low. LAPD - large as it is - doesn't have an equivalent staff or budget. Crime is higher & LAPD are spread thin. So if the worst thing you're doing is sleeping on the street, they'll mostly leave you alone. The homeless tend to congregate together for safety & camraderie. It's a hugely complicated problem with no single or easy solution.
Those birds appear to actually be ravens gathering to roost.
I'm heart-broken! I truly thought they were swallows, but after reading your comment, I looked up the differences, & crows are much larger than swallows. So, you are probably right. Sigh ... I was so happy that I had seen them, and now ... sigh ...
Check the yelp reviews people. This place is below 2 stars. Reported long waits for basic products and the igloo event is just shut down. As well as much of the food is just store bought premade items way over priced. Check yelp its a trap.
There was a long line for the pasta wheel, where I ate - took me about 30 minutes. The igloo areas were pretty high priced - lowest price was $180 - so I'm not surprised there were no takers. But the food being store bought? I didn't see this when I was there. The Pasta Wheel was making the food in its tent. It was a little pricey but not more than I've seen at places like Descanso Gardens, or other holiday-type events. I still had a blast!
Hi, great wholesome video and like your editing style! Keep it up!

I’ve seen old street lamps that need some repairs from the 20’s or 30’s next to the five freeway a little street I don’t know the name of the street but about nine street lamps need some renovating I think it’s in commerce
@@ralphbenites1312 Some of these street lamps are still used all over the city. If you go downtown to Broadway, you'll see the Broadway rose. I've seen these old street lamps in Hollywood, Echo Park & other places, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were also in Commerce. I hope they get repaired! They're too beautiful to just languish as old, broken relics!

Thanks for sharing. Is this the On board experience or the Italian Vibes Experience? The ship is docking in Mumbai next week and only the latter is available. Can you let me know which one you booked since you were able to get on board and explore? (I am looking to book the same) Currently the website mentions that the on board experience is sold out and only the Italian Vibes is available. So just want to confirm whether we will be able to get inside with this ticket.
@@ihsaanm97 You won't be able to get on board with the Italian Vibes experience. There is a small Italian Village with exhibits & food vendors - that is what you get with the Italian Vibes experience, & you can take photos of the ship from shore. The Italian village was fine, & the exhibits were okay, but I didn't think they were worth mentioning in the video.
Gus was giving you a big smooch! 🤗

It's called Bronson Canyon. If you head north on Canyon Drive, you'll go straight into the park.

Cool! 😎👍🏼💯
Be a winning horse I bet I know how he will be spending his retirement 😉 3:56 😂
Haha! A very happy horse!
It is going to port in Phuket, Thailand now. How about the ship compare to the Sails in San Francisco?
Is that the one docked at the Hyde Street Pier? If so, I haven't been to that one. I toured the Jeremiah O'Brien, which is at Fisherman's Wharf, last March. I wouldn't compare to the Amerigo Vespucci, though -- The Amerigo Vespucci is a sailboat, but the Jeremiah O'Brien -- built only 18 years later -- was a steam engine powered by coal. I'm hoping to get back to San Francisco this March. I'll try to check that ship out then!
Did they allow you to go to the cabin inside the ship?
We could not go in the cabins. I would have loved to have seen them!
Nice video! It is a shame that this museum closed down recently.
@@medialex78 Nooooo!!! I didn't realize that! I wonder what's going to happen to their collection.

Very cool 😎 I’ve only been to a local race in Boise it was fun 👍
@@SomeplaceOrAnother Thank you! Horse races are a lot of fun! I've wanted to go to Santa Anita here in LA, but just haven't made it yet.
Thank you for this. I'm writing a book that takes place in LA. I needed a secluded park for one of my characters to go to. The video and history were so interesting and helpful. ❤
@@Sweetheartstoryreviews awesome!! I'm a pretty voracious reader - when you finish your book, let me know!! I'd love to read it! You might want to consider Ernest E Debs park, in East LA. The park itself is pretty large, but the is a section of the park at the top of a hill with fantastic views of downtown LA. I did a video of the Audobon center in the park, but that's not the section I'm referring to - I haven't been to this part of the park yet. But one of its coolest features of this park is a hidden swing - you can swing out over the hill with the LA skyline in the distance - at sunset, you can get pretty incredible views. If your character is looking for solitude, the lake, the swing, the urban skyline in a wooded setting - it's pretty darn cool!
@@JasmineApple Oh wow, that sounds amazing! I will totally research that. Your videos are making me want to go visit LA (I'm in Utah). I've been before, but when I was a teenager visiting my grandfather in Highland. But as an adult, the traffic scares me. But maybe someday I'll gather my braves. I'm a brand new baby author, so my book probably won't be ready for about 2 years, but I'd love to send you an ecopy when it's ready. ❤❤❤
Nice review, this deli is between Fairfax High School and CBS where the price is right was aired.
@@larrywong6331 Thank you! Fairfax is a very cool area. Bit of trivia - I was on The Price is Right back in the 80s. My dad LOVED the show, so when he came out to visit one year, I took him to a taping. It was on his birthday. I didn't know it at the time, but they interview all the audience members before you go in. I watched as they interviewed the people in front of me, & they liked bubbly people, so when it was my turn, I was as happy & bubbly as I could be!! During the show I was the very last contestant to get called down. You have to bid on some item, & being the last one down, I was the 1st to bid. I don't remember what it was, but I bid $350. The guy next to me was the last to bid, & he bid $351 -- $1 more than me!! -- & he won & got onstage. We got cool consolation prizes, though. Since it was my dad's birthday, I gave all the consolation prizes (except some make up) to him. It was fun!!
Cool art museum 👍
Hello, Looking for some advice. Never been to San Fran. Mostly there to board the Amtrak California Zephyr to Chicago over by Oakland but spending a half day across the bridge in San Fran. The plan is to take Cab to Trolley car, Trolley Car to Lombard. Walk down Lombard. Walk to Pier for Alcatraz tour. Cab back to hotel near Oakland. (Gotta get up early for Amtrak the following morning) I got the walk part down from Lombard, but never done a trolley car. Flying into Oakland, cab to nearby hotel, Cab across the bridge. Would I be correct in that I should have the cab drop off near Union Square to buy a Hyde line ticket to get to the top end of Lombard?
@@GaryWaterman-z5k Trolley cars & cable cars are 2 different things, so you want to be sure you use the right terminology, in case you need to ask questions. You'll want to take a cab to Market & Powell streets - that's where you'll catch the Hyde cable car to Lombard. The trolley cars also stop at Market & Powell - they run along Market Street & don't go to Lombard at all. Trolley cars are old-fashioned cars, but they have a cable on top that connects to wires that run above the cars. Cable cars don't look like they're connected to anything. The cable car line starts at Powell Street - that's where the large wooden tuntable is that turns the cable cars around to head back up the hill. The reason you don't want to start at Union Square, is because the cable cars are often full by the time the cable car gets there, & they'll just pass you by. It's off-season, so you might not have that problem, but since you're on a tight schedule, why risk it? Also, you can get a ticket on your phone - download the Muni App, & you'll be able to get your ticket. There is a booth at Market & Powell, if you want to buy a physical ticket, too. And you can buy a ticket on the cable car. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! Have fun!!
Lovely video! So concise and to the point! Loved your voice too (so soothing and calm). You just are so knowledgeable (do you study a place before you go there?).
Thank you so much!! Most of the time, I do try to study a place ahead of time, with a general idea of how to approach it. With the Autry, I went & enjoyed it, & learned about it first. Then came back home to work on the story I wanted to tell, and then went back to the Autry to film it. Sometimes, like with the Amerigo Vespucci, I only get one chance to visit, so even if I don't know much about it, I'll film as much as I can, then go back over the footage at home to research the details, & do an overdub.
Love your videos! Discovered a lot of cool places in California through them ❤ keep up the good work 😊
Thank you!! So glad to hear!
Oh Jasmine! I am overwhelmed by the experience you have shared with me. Since I cannot be there, It is a real feast for the eyes. So much great work all in one place. And a beautiful place it is. Thank you.
