I moved to Portland Oregon from Joshua Tree CA in 2020 having always lived in S CA. CA got too hot! I love fog, rain, and cool weather - like in Scotland - so knew I'd love it here. It is beautiful and full of adventures.
@JasmineApple That's because they're warmed by the Japanese current, which keeps it above freezing most of the time. You even see windmill palm trees around town.
Wow, Jasmine! I love how you covered Portland’s beautiful outdoor region, as well the city of Portland. I have been to Portland and you showed me all the places I missed, a motivation to return. Love that knitted cap on you. I think that’s something you should consider wearing more often!
"Beauty's in the eye of the beholder", as the saying goes. many Portland residents don't appreciate the natural beauty they have in and around the city. I do.
I really enjoyed your video, I’m glad you went alone and didn’t miss out. You have a great sense of adventure! I’m trying to plan travel alone which will be a first for me! I like to go to Portland every summer, I love it so much there. I was tickled to see you flying out of my area in the San Fernando Valley!
Thank you! Traveling alone can be intimidating! But also a lot of fun - you can take time to do the things you want to do. Even when I meet friends for vacation, I'll often schedule to show up a day early or stay a few days later, just to do some things I REALLY want to do, that my friends mught not. And, yeah, Burbank airport is the best! Hope you have a blast on your 1st solo travel adventure!
@@JasmineApple That place is horrible! Drugs and garbage all over the place. Those Progressive Monsters have ruined it just like they have in San Fran, LA, Seattle, Chicago, NYC, Boston.
Old town was where I stayed & really convenient to everything. So you can't go wrong with hotel there, or the adjacent downtown area. It's also close to public transportation, which I also used. I hope you have a great time!
I KNOW!!! I missed soooo much!! I am planning to go back. I did do the Shanghai Tunnels, though - that was so interesting. And there is a voodoo's donuts at Universal Citywalk, which is near where I live. It usually has a line to get in, but it's on my list of things to try! Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment!
Thank you! I tried to get to the Japanese Gardens before they closed, but didn't make it in time. The surrounding streets, though, had beautiful Japanese influences, so I have no doubt that the Japanese Gardens are beautiful! I will definitely make it there on my next trip to Portland.
Hi! Yeah, there were a lot of homeless in old town, tents on the street under burnside bridge. But I didn't see drug activity or mental illness - just people without a home. They also weren't begging or hassling anyone. They left me alone & I left them alone. That's really the only place I saw them, & while I was a little nervous the first night I got there, no one ever threatened me. I hope you have a great time while you're there!
What a great video summary of Portland. You touch on all the places I want to visit. Thank you !!
Thank you so much!

That is so cool! I loved Portland as well! I've never been to Scotland, but it is on my bucket list!
I forgot what it looked like there in the winter, which looks like fall or spring here in Salt Lake, lol!
That is the furthest north I've been on the west coast. I was surprised how mild it was in the winter!

Is she being serious in this video?
When you say, "she," are you asking if I'm serious? And if you're asking if I'm serious, can you clarify why you're asking?

Portland legalized all drugs 2 yrs ago and has the cheapest fentanyl in the country.
You didn't visit any McMenamins or Shanghai Tunnels, Voodoo Donuts, Dutch Bros, Hagg Lake [town underneath], OMSI, the list goes on and on

Great video! In the summer, it's beautiful. My favorite places to visit are the Japanese Garden and NW 23rd Ave.

Good, video! I’m going there next month. Are the homeless as bad as everyone says?
