I made a walnut desk with a built-in piano. Covers of popular songs, film scores, & original pieces.
Pure Imagination | Walnut Piano
I love melancholy arrangements of happy songs.
As usual life gets in the way of a regular upload schedule, but this piece has been completely stuck in my head for a while and I really wanted to get it out as I felt I had some nifty ideas for an arrangement.
I do admit: In making this video, I have been reminded of how time-consuming these videos can be. In the time since I've last uploaded I would say my improv style has changed a bit, whereby I've developed a bit of a more refined left-hand technique to incorporate more variety into my playing instead of just running octave/thirds over and over. Hopefully that'll give me some motivation to work on some more music.
Until such time, please enjoy.

Halo OST Suite - A Nocturne | Walnut Piano
มุมมอง 672ปีที่แล้ว
I have returned with a mended keyboard and I am finally settled and ready to put out some more music. Here's one I've wanted to do for a while: the immortal Halo OST from Martin O'Donnell, reimagined as a nocturne. We're using the Spitfire Labs "Soft Piano" VST for this one which is mic'd up very close to the hammer action, hence all the mechanical sound which I absolutely love and find very fi...
The Christmas Song | Nat King Cole | Solo Piano Arrangement
มุมมอง 5822 ปีที่แล้ว
Christmas classics are classics for a reason. The immortal Nat King Cole is no exception. Hope you enjoy, this was a fun one to make. Nice and quiet Sunday at home. Some super crunchy chords in this one, and somewhat unexpected while reading through a lead sheet in preparation for it. Will probably take a little break from jazzy type stuff after Christmas, focus back on more classically oriente...
Somewhere Over The Rainbow | Jazz Variation | Walnut Piano

Apologies for the hair fluttering on my jacket. 1) We have a golden retriever. 2) It is freezing outside and I have a heater aimed at my face 24/7. This interpretation/variation is very, very heavily inspired by the version on TH-cam by Rupert Austin - if he sees this, I am forever honored. I'm still very much learning "to jazz"; but since I started working on light jazz variations of songs I a...
An achingly beautiful excerpt from an otherwise extremely difficult piece of music. | Rach 3
มุมมอง 4692 ปีที่แล้ว
The Rach 3 ossia cadenza is possibly my favorite section of my favorite piece of music ever written. I know I say that a lot, but I think I really mean it with this one. - Headphones recommended. A few recurrent questions: Q: How did you make the desk? A: Bought a slab of black walnut and milled it down with an epoxy inlay and skeletonized a StudioLogic SL88 to mount underneath it. Will do a vi...
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas | Walnut Piano

My favorite time of the year. Not much to say today; more on the way shortly. Thanks for being patient with me, busy few weeks. We'll get back to it. - Headphones recommended. A few recurrent questions: Q: How did you make the desk? A: Bought a slab of black walnut and milled it down with an epoxy inlay and skeletonized a StudioLogic SL88 to mount underneath it. Will do a video on this at some ...
Free Session № 12 | Walnut Piano

Experimenting with changing the direction of the visualizer here. I'm still sort of in a "jazz" mood after I figured out a few chords I really liked when I made the Amazing Grace video (go watch it if you haven't seen it!), and so I'm messing around with a few of those tonalities here. the V flat 9 chord is a vibe and some of the passing tones/transitional chords sound really neat, so why not p...
Casper's Lullaby | Casper OST | Solo Piano Arrangement
มุมมอง 9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Thank you for your patience :) Hectic week at work and I figured it would be better to just take a break, regroup, and come back with some music I was better prepared for. To be honest I've been waiting on this one for quite a while and I was originally planning on saving it for like the week before Halloween but I think it fits earlier in the Fall lineup, so it's fitting that we'll do it on Oc...
A classical pianist tries to play jazzy Amazing Grace | Solo Piano Arrangement
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Tonight: a classical pianist tries to jazz. Results are mixed. Disclaimer, I got a 100% classical conservatory education. I do not understand jazz gypsy magic, nor do I pretend to. I know some basic chords and I know how to noodle. Behold. I am happy to hear suggestions on how to improve my crappy jazz. This week's Spooktober piece is getting pushed out to Wednesday; I need a little more time t...
Free Sessions № 11 | Walnut Piano
มุมมอง 3812 ปีที่แล้ว
Recommend putting this one on in the and going about your normal nightly browsing. Mixing things up a little, not enough time to render the visualizer this week. Hope you like. Let me know what you think about this angle, might do more like this in the future. Headphones recommended. A few recurrent questions: Q: How did you make the desk? A: Bought a slab of black walnut and milled it down wit...
Victor's Piano Solo (but he doesn't get interrupted) | Corpse Bride OST | Solo Piano Arrangement
มุมมอง 6432 ปีที่แล้ว
Before you all jump on me for the title: yes I realize Danny Elfman wrote an actual ending to the piece. But what if there was more? It was just getting good, right? Victor's obviously a phenomenal pianist, I bet it was about to get rad. So here's my guess on what came next. I think this is probably the piece of music that started my own personal love affair with c# minor, the easiest of all ke...
KYGO | Variations on Piano Jam № 3 | Solo Piano
มุมมอง 9212 ปีที่แล้ว
Fresh off the requests from the previous video. I exist to please. So I'm sitting at work today trying to figure out what I'm going to do for Wednesdays video because I don't plan my life that far in advance, when I see a guy named Luke pop up in my comments and say "Hey, try Kygo Piano Jams" which I've never heard of before so I figure I'll give it a listen. Super chill vibe, figure I'd run a ...
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, but it's a Chopin Nocturne | Transylvanian Lullaby
มุมมอง 1.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
For a comedy film, this was an oddly beautiful score. Spooktember continues! This is the name I've chosen for it at this point so I have to commit to it. Swapped out the "Come Little Children" entry for this which I think actually fits the theme better all things considered, but otherwise everything else will play out as scheduled. I've played enough Chopin in my life to understand that throwin...
THE SCIENTIST | Coldplay | Minimalist Piano Arrangement
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Coldplay was requested; I am obliged. Reuploaded because I screwed up the premiere. Ignore me. Nothing much to say about this one; super quick, quiet. With the covers I'm not familiar with I sometimes have to sit with them for a while and figure out what I'm going to do to make it unique; not so with this one. Have heard this song more times than I would even think possible in my life. Going fo...

Hello. Wonderful rendering. Did you upload the sheet music in the end?
Actually just learned how to play this myself. Used this video to learn. Very easy once you get the fingering down. Thanks 👍
My buddy thinks he knows how to play this but he doesn't.
Too big. This song is is beautiful in its simplicity. Too many notes in yhis rendition

*Whispers* Can i keep you?.
Wow that is a beautiful piano, and the sound is amazing too. I’ve been playing for about 7 years now and I don’t comment much on piano videos anymore, but your playing style is very soothing and every note seems perfectly played. Keep up the content and I’m excited to see more!!
i havent moved like this by music in so long
Excellent performance. Don’t disappear for so long anymore 🙃
Will try not to :)
I really want to see this channel explode as it should. These may not be helpful critiques; feel free to ignore them, but: I can't help but think the thumbnails are beautifully made, but might be too compressed for mobile screens and look fuzzy on displays. The second critique: I bet there'd be more audience retention if the keys fell to the keyboard as you're about to press them instead of ascending after being pressed. It kind of hijacks that part of the brain that gives anticipation and wants to see something happen as opposed to "yeah, I already know they hit that key"
Would agree with the thumbnail thing - I have kept them similar for consistency but I can mess with some easier to view ideas. I have tried the notes going the opposite way a few times. I'm not sure how I feel about it, although the few times I did test it out the animation was probably a bit slow so I'll mess with it in the future. Regarding fame/exposure on TH-cam; I have a little group of people who like and comment on the videos and honestly that means the world to me :) It would be cool for the channel to blow up, but I mostly do this to relax, catalog the music I've played (as I've already forgotten more pieces than I know) and also so my parents can still listen to me play as we live in different states now.
@@walnutpianoI can say as an adhd watcher, slow moving piano notes that come down as you're about to hit em are far worse than more quickly moving notes, but I do think descending notes would be better in nearly every way than the ascending notes. And I totally understand what you mean about fame not really being a motivator, but it's just that the quality of these videos deserves more. If more traction means you can more consistently make the kind of stuff you want at the rate you want with a hungry audience waiting as long as it takes, I'd love to see that happen
Saw the new Wonka movie and this has been in my head ever since. Love to see it appearing around outside the theaters
toe curling chords. sounds fantastic! keep up the great work!
Gorgeous, I love the pondering style you explore with all your songs!
So happy to hear you and your beautiful piano up and running! Thank you.
Very enjoyable to listen to! Great to see a new video from you 🙂
Missed you bro !
Sometimes, when I am just randomly scrolling TH-cam I come about one of your videos. I love your Hans Zimmer covers the most. This one is also special. It is an absolute riddle to me as to why you do not have many more subscribers. Thank you for the awesome content! ❤
So so beautiful! I feel like dreaming ✨
So happy to see another one of your videos! Love the piece and what you did with it. You really inspire me to work on my own piano technique.
Hey man, I rarely comment on pretty much anything, but I've been watching your content for a bit now and I just wanted to let you know that I have been loving the work you're doing. I've been waiting for a new upload for the past 6 months, and as per usual, you delivered above my expectations. I cant wait to see what you play in the future!
I love your walnut piano desk. I would like to build one myself for my kawai mp11. Thank you for filming this and the inspiration. Also you are an incredible musician.
I absolutely love this, because I'm in love with both Chopin and the Young Frankenstein theme🥹 thank youu❤
My royal python’s name is Casper (he’s all white w/blue eyes). I tell him this is his theme song 🤍🩵👻
Love when your sessions come across my playlists. As lovely as the first time I heard it.
So beautiful
nice & smooth
Could you post a Synthesia version of this so I can see the notes better?
You have my up-vote sir. Thank You!
It's too beautiful, I have no words 🥺
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, And folks dressed up like Eskimos. Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe, Help to make the season bright, Tiny tots with their eyes all a-glow, Will find it hard to sleep tonight. They know that Santa's on his way He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh, And ev'ry mother's child is gonna spy, To see if reindeer really know how to fly. And so I'm offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two, Although it's been said Many times, Many ways Merry Christmas to you. And so I'm offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two, Although it's been said Many times, Many ways Merry Christmas to you

Hey man, possible to buy the sheet music?

Wonderfully played!
