I tried smaller lights in my house. But I found that with my 8ft ceilings it was very difficult to achieve glare free lighting with minimal shadows and a excessive quantity of lights. Changed all recessed lights to 6" and am happier.

I thought the whole idea of backsplash was for keeping it clean in the back of your wall, so why not extend it out to the end of the wall, or have it extend out from the counter?

As an Electrician, I love working on jobs that use professional lighting design such as banks and hotels. The light layout seems a little random but always turns out amazing. I wish I had that skill.

I think I solved the corner space problem. Do a pizza oven! Or maybe block it off and put a water filter system and a tankless water heater.

Would this also apply to floors !? Am debating between two wood floors . One has a warmer feel because it has a little red tones - the other more of yellow tones . Both beautiful- I can’t decide 😅

So we’re doing a new build. I have all the doors in white traditional shaker. Where would I add just a plain front slab door to my kitchen, so it complements the shaker? You are so good at this!!!! I love watching your videos !!😊

White oak is still trending, right? I CANNOT find thin shaker in white oak! Even custom! It’s “Quarter Sawn oak” but I don’t think it’s White Oak. 🤔

What about Quarter Sawn oak? Trending?

Oh wow- I have all three! If only I had seen this six months ago. Remodeled in Spring 2024 - pull out trash- broke within two months of install because of poor install and heavy use. Bought a free standing trash hideaway cabinet with a drawer that’s working great- best part is that it moved the trash out of the main worn area, Give us a little worktop, and drop point. Lazy Susan corners- with L Door. working well, but one has already started to sag and rub cabinet bottom! Also, would be great if they were designed to self-balance. Drawers in lower pantry- this one works well for us because we can see the stuff in the back. Downside - cannot adjust them to different heights as you start rearranging your kitchen over time.

IMO, thinking about trends is the entire problem. Worrying if something is in-style or not, or trying to predict if something will be in style in the future is why so much garbage is bought. Those "skinny shaker" designs look like trash. It has nothing to do with what's current or out of date--they just look bad.

I like the European fronts for cabinets for the reason of less to clean.

We just installed frameless flat front cabinets and they look great!

Oh well... My rental will be completely renovated and on the MLS by the end of the month. The inside, including the kitchen, is bright white with gray and brushed nickel hardware and accessories. Hopefully, they will see your video after buying. lol Thanks for another excellent video!

As an accent that can be changed up when your tastes change, absolutely. Love the idea of using soft or creamy toned white cabinets,..then bring in replaceable accent items that after several years or more you can change to “update” your space,.. without remodeling it.

Your comment about smelling the rotten mould brought memories of our last big flood and how the water laid about for weeks. The smell was terrible

My dad built his house on a floodplain. The living area is 6 feet off the ground. He carted soil to make two hills which the house sits beside. I never had flood water inside. If we ever do, it will be a national disaster . He knew what this area was about and built accordingly

That edge profile at 9:38 -- I've never seen anything like it and I absolutely love it. I'm in the middle of kitchen planning and I already told the fabricator that I want an ogee edge. But he hasn't started yet so I think I'll send him a picture and ask if he can do that. Gorgeous!

Hey Liz, I am from Jamaica your videos are alway purposely constructed to deliver helpful information.

Be careful with a frameless cabinet. It easy for the cabinet to rack and not stay square. I would choose a framed full overlay over a frameless full overlay cabinet. I currently in the planning stages of our kitchen project and having difficulty deciding if the range or sink should be in the middle of the kitchen. We have a L shaped kitchen with the refrigerator on one end of the L. I like the range in the middle as a focal point but from a functional aspect the sink seems to be the better option. Thoughts? 10’6”x13’6”

I cant stop laughing… my fav lines are “why am i shouting” and “let grey die the death its deserves” TOTALLY AGREE!! Grey is so depressing. Oh yeah add “wtf cabinetry” to the list that made me laugh!! This is why i love being a NY-er!! I can totally get your humor!
