Siliskie Land Management
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 พ.ย. 2020
I am going to cover quite a bit of different things on this channel. I own a Land Management Business, as well as a Sawmill/Wood working business. I am a outdoor enthusiast who spends a lot of time doing habitat improvements on my families property in Central IL. I will try and cover a little bit of everything I do from running the sawmill, cutting trees, planting food plots, clearing land with my forestry mulcher, wood working projects etc.
2024 Polaris Xpedition 1" seat risers
I have purchased 1" aluminum square tubing to make my own seat risers, instead of purchasing some online premade. I saved a ton of money doing it this way and got a height for the riser that I couldn't find anyone offered. I will ride with this height for a while and see how it works for my needs, if it doesn't I will change it and find something that does.

2024 Polaris Xpedition XP5 Northstar initial review and sound deadening material installation
มุมมอง 4.3K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
I purchased a new 2024 Polaris Xpedition XP5 Northstar, while waiting on it to be built and shipped to the dealer, I watched a ton of videos showing how noisy they were and what a few people did to try and remedy that. I had some Fat Mat brand sound deadening material left over from another project, I installed it inside the cab, and outside the cab above the engine. I also cut 1/2" high densit...
Field edge and food plot project

Just working on a fun project close to my house, get to experiment with a few things I have been wanting to try out for some food plots and deer habitat.
2" trash pump and IBC tote irrigation system
มุมมอง 3.4Kปีที่แล้ว
I made this trash pump and IBC tote irrigation system so that I could water remote areas in my yard for an upcoming project. I also will be using it to water my food plots for my wildlife, and as a fire fighting setup when we do prescribed burns on our timber ground and our crp fields. I had the IBC tote, and purchased the trash pump and hose from Harbor Freight, the pump and hose was around $4...
Planting Spring Food Plots 2023
มุมมอง 54ปีที่แล้ว
a short video showing ground preparations, drilling beans with my 3 point hitch converted John Deere Van Brunt grain drill, and planting corn with my 3 point hitch converted John Deere 494A planter. Not a lot of talking and explanations in this video, I had some difficulties with my go pro and the weather didnt allow me a whole lot of opportunity for planting, I had to jump on it when it allowe...
Walking a property to bid it for Forestry Mulching and spraying
มุมมอง 22ปีที่แล้ว
trying out a little different video, showing the beginning process of cleaning up a property. I am walking it to assess it, so I can try to give the most accurate bid to the land owner. This property is enrolled in the EQIP Forestry Management program. I will provide forestry mulching services and then do a follow up with a chemical treatment on any regrowth.
Automatic Chicken Water system
มุมมอง 123ปีที่แล้ว
I am building an automatic chicken watering system. Used a 55 gallon food grade barrel, a hose bib, stainless steel washing machine connector, and some 1/2" pvc pipe. Also explain some of the upcoming projects that I might be videoing at the end of the video.
Finishing part of my yard around my chicken coop and shed
มุมมอง 63ปีที่แล้ว
I am taking a part of my yard that was around my chicken coop and behind my shed. It was always muddy, and the grass never grew, I put rock in the areas we walk quite often to take care of the chickens, and then regraded and seeded part of the yard.
Pollinators Field Maintenance and Wildlife habitat improvements
มุมมอง 207ปีที่แล้ว
We are doing some prescribed maintenance on one of our Pollinators fields. There was quite a bit of Cottonwood trees that were growing up in the field so per our plan we spot burn what is necessary and remove the trees. Then a small glimpse of what we do to manipulate the deer movement and to provide all the animals with a little structure to hide in or bed near.
Short video splitting firewood
มุมมอง 88ปีที่แล้ว
This is a short video I made splitting firewood with my Halverson HWP 140B firewood processor that I am running on my Takeuchi TL12R2. I will post more videos running it and show different angles of it operating as I run it more splitting my firewood for next fall/winter. In those later videos I will explain the things I like and dislike (if any) about it, and the things I have learned to do an...
Reclaiming a property for a new land owner.
มุมมอง 307ปีที่แล้ว
Working on a property just down the road from my house. Taking a VERY overgrown property and clearing it out to fit the new land owners needs.
Controlled burn on one of our CRP fields
มุมมอง 2.1Kปีที่แล้ว
This is one of our Pollinators fields, it has some Cottonwood trees growing in it, so we are doing a selective burn in a small area so that we can pull the trees out of it, which is part of our maintenance plan through our NRCS office (who wrote the CRP plan) Some of the video is a little shaky and I also keep calling the downwind and upwind sides "downhill and uphill" I was trying to film with...
What size tires
33" System 3 XCR 450's
@ looks 👍
It’s a shame you have to do that for the money we spend on these units. You can’t tell me that Yamaha , Polaris and Can Am can’t develop some sound deadening material to install at the factory. There has to be some kind of polymer or rubber compound available to kill the sound. It’s not like the entire machine has to be covered in it, just the floor board and back of the cab facing the engine.
I agree completely, with the extensive R&D they did on this model, they surely had a decibel meter in there at some point.
Nice upgrades. You would think Polaris would add noise canceling considering how loud these machines are. They have nice radio radio systems already need to add this option.
YES.
Nice job on that front rack light down low. I mounted one on top, but that low light looks pretty useful.
Could have set up an impact sprinkler on pressure rated PVC and secured it with a tpost.
yeah, I could have. But this is what works best for our needs.
Thanks for putting this up. I'd like to have the seat a little taller but was dumbfounded by the fact that you can only get 2"+ seat risers for this.
They have worked out great so far. My kids can drive it easily with the 1" risers. And it is still easy enough for older landowners to get in and ride around their properties with me.
Good job on the mods. Like the mud flap idea. Noticed on mine all the mud that gets way up in there.
I would probably use a thinner rubber for that if I were to do it again. Those were left over from another project, so I used them. It has saved a ton of time cleaning the machine. I removed them the other day to see what had landed behind them and it was only a couple handfuls of dirt to remove on each side. I might cuss the driver side one when I have to change the clutch belt on the trail and have to remove it without power tools, but we will burn that bridge if and when it gets here.
Im happy with my 1998 Lada Niva 1.7 4x4 2121 ❤
I have a 2024 Northstar Ultimate 2 door and I am very happy with it
I finally had a chance to sit in an xpedition at my local dealership. I found it comfortable . I am 6’1’’ . Maybe the only change I would want is to add a seat cushion to straighten out the back rest. I am use to my can am defender upright seating. Nice idea on the aluminum 👍.
Thanks, I have had them in for a little bit now and done some riding in the timber on our property and on the roads around our area. I am happy with them so far; my kids say they can see better when they are driving it so that's a plus too. I am about 5' 10" ish but I prefer to sit lower, this riser isn't too terribly high. The real test will be in a couple weeks when I have an 83-year-old farmer in my machine, see how it is for him to get in and out, and another friend is 6'6" see how he fits in there with the risers.
Do it hold a lot of heat in the inside?
No it does not, the Air conditioning system works really well in this. I live in Central IL where it gets pretty hot and very humid. Yesterday was mid 90's real temp with 100% humidity. I did some fencing along our property line about 4pm and the A/C had no problem at all cooling the inside off and keeping up easily with any ambient heat.
Very nice!
Might as well buy one of those Toyota trucks the terrorist like
I am not a terrorist, so I don't have a use for one of those.
You should mount some pod lights on the back of your cab to see when backing up in the dark
I am considering that, I don't do a ton of riding at night but on the occasions that I do it would be nice to have them.
That’s a nice machine. 👍.
Thank you
Once you start you can’t stop
Just buy a Jeep already
I have had jeeps, everything from CJ 7's to TJ's. This stock suspension machine is far more capable than any relatively stock jeep I have had or ridden in. If I wanted a jeep I would have bought one.
These junks are so overpriced like you said buy a Jeep and upgrade the suspension and then you have a real machine this thing's all plastic in this little junk engine when you can have an actual vehicle I'm lost
Nice machine! with that much seat riser is it hard to buckle or unbuckle the seat belt? Thanks
I don't use the seat belts, I bought a seat belt blank to put into the buckle and get around the safety part. I bought 1" Aluminum square tubing today, I am going to make my own risers that are a little shorter and see how that works out.
Get the heavier weights polaris offers. It’s free. Way better. Like way better and no noticeable power change. Your muffler guard will start to peel soon on the bottom right. 800 miles on my xp5. The ride and stereo are unreal
I just did the comfort clutch from Polaris last Friday. I put 33" system 3 tires on it also. these two things along with the sound proofing I have done have made a huge difference. I can't wait to take it to the trails in Northern Wisconsin and see how it does up there. It is great on our property and riding around our area but those are pretty smooth roads, and relatively smooth trails.
Nice work. Does anyone make an aftermarket muffler for these machines? A quieter version? Seems to me like a lot of the noise is muffler noise.
Aftermarket Assassin's makes an exhaust system with a quiet core option. Supposedly makes it quieter. I'm. Ot sure if I want to try that option yet or not, we go to Northern Wisconsin riding the trails and I habe heard they are a little stricter on Modified exhaust systems up there.
I have the XP 2 door Northstar, it's a shame that Polaris didn't do a much better job with the noise. I've clutched mine and it's better, but still working with Speedwerx to improve their kit functionality. I also added quite a bit of sound deadening materials.
I agree, at this price point we shouldn't have to do upgrades to improve the sound. I'm pretty happy with the results I got from my sound deadening. My next steps are to either do the factory clutch rework, or get an aftermarket clutch kit, then get 32" or 33" tires.
@@siliskielandmanagement120 I have 32" Tusk Terrabites. I honestly would just do the free Polaris clutch upgrade, I wouldn't waste money on a kit.
Awesome, I applaud your innovation, even though it’s a temporary set-up, it looks great.
Thank you, I cant take full credit, I saw a similar video on here and since I have a ton of IBC totes figured I could make one for myself. If I were to keep the IBC tote set up, I think I would find an old running gear and put 3 or 4 totes inline on it plumb them in series and put the pump on the end of it so that I could have up to 1100 gallons of water. I think that would be a decent set up for our property and what we need.
You’re going to need a bigger tractor and trailer setup to drag 4 and a half tons of water to the fields.
