The King of KAMUT - Bob Quinn's Story - From 50 Grains to 100,000 Acres of Organic Wheat
Bob Quinn of Big Sandy, Montana tells his story of how he came upon this mysterious grain at the county fair. A man asked Bob if he'd like to see some "King Tut's Wheat" from Egypt. It was really just a novelty item that he took home and didn't think much about but decades later, he and his father would grow that wheat into a whole industry of organic, all natural, easy to digest wheat that is now a huge hit in Italy for it's quality, taste and texture.
The Italians love it for it's similarity to Durum Semolina and it was in Italy that the original Food Nanny, Liz Edmunds, first encountered this wheat. Now the Food Nanny store and brand carry this wheat and have made it available to everyone in the USA as the number one distributor.

RECIPE HERE BELOW You've gotta try this! Food Nanny Victoria Sponge Cake 🍰 1, 15.25 ounce box vanilla/yellow cake mix •¾ cup White Kamut Flour •1 cup brown sugar •½ teaspoon French salt •1 ⅓ cups water room temperature •1 cup sour cream •2 Tablespoons coconut oil •2 teaspoon vanilla extract •3 large eggs 1- Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2- spray two 9 inch round cake pans with cooking spray with flour ! 3- ��In a large bowl, add cake mix, flour, sugar, salt and stir together. Add water, sour cream, coconut oil, vanilla and stir until combined. Add 3 eggs !one at a time, stirring after each one until ingredients are thoroughly mixed. 4-Divide batter evenly between the 2 pans which will each be ¾ full. Place on middle rack of oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a little crumb on it. 5- Remove out of pans and onto cooling racks ! Once cooled frost with buttercream and Jam 🙌🏻! Butter Cream 🧈 2 sticks butter 2-3 cups powder sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla 1-2 tablespoons of milk or heavy cream Mix together until smooth ! Jam for frosting cake 🍰 1 cup of any of these jams ! Strawberry rhubarb or plain strawberry or raspberry jam!!! Dust the top with powder sugar ( as much as you desire 🤤) Going to love it ❤️🔥 #kamut #victoriasponge #cake

Dang girl, you’ve got the energy of an infomercial! White flour always makes fluffy bread. That’s not whole grain there. Where can I get kamut kernels to mill it fresh at home?

We carry whatever you need - the Whole Wheat Kamut flour, the Whole Wheat Kamut berries for grinding, and also - what we call our White Kamut which has the whole bran removed and makes it light and fluffy for baking or making pasta. The Italians love this wheat and we do too. Thanks for watching!

@@thefoodnanny Great to know! Thanks. Kamut/Khorasan is one of the very few food products where when people say it tastes "Buttery" or "Nutty", it actually does. So buttery, that I find even on just toast I use less butter. As far as the "nutty" claims on so many products, I have no idea what kind of nuts such people eat.

i just made the cookies and they are very good and so pretty, you don't really taste lavender alot just a hint when you take the bite, when you chew you taste the lemon and the shortbread, i give it a thumbs up - delicious!!

Hi Lizi! This video is SO SO helpful to watch again after making your bread this past year. I watched it when I first bought your book and I'm watching again today to brush up on tips from you! Ok I have two questions: first is, I want to know if I can double or even triple a batch if I have a big enough bowl, or will it compromise the end result? I ask because I am making a lot for Christmas gifts and if I can save some time by doubling or tripling batch I am going to. Second question is, if I can double or triple, that will mean half of my dough will need to wait a little longer to go into the pans and rise etc. because there is only so much room in my oven. Is that longer wait time for the dough to be divided up into pans going to compromise the end result? Thank you for everything! Your bread has been miraculous for my family as there are gluten intolerances but they can eat this bread. ❤
Thank you so much! I love this! You will want to work backwards from how many pans you have available because the bread will rise quickly so I wouldn’t mix up any more than you can bake at once. Happy Baking!! 🍞
So plain regular yogurt or plain Greek yogurt? Also, if you don’t have the French salt, can we just use any salt
Yes, look for the best tasting salt you have. We love the flavor and crunch of French salt. 😊😊
And a plain, full fat yogurt is the best to work with.

how much powdered sugar, in your book says reg sugar?
In my Sourdough Discard book, we use 3/4 c powdered sugar for the dough and 2 cups powdered sugar in the glaze ❤️

I did the exact measurements as my King Arthur flour which I make every week. Can you please do an episode on kamut dutch oven bread for me? When I first saw The Food Nanny all those years ago (10-15?)on BYUtv, her message was infectious. My children were very small then and we were struggling. Her message helped me see the ”big picture” of what I wanted us to be in the future. It is more than a simple meal plan that kept me organized and saving money, it was a blueprint for family togetherness that we established early. Kids are now grown and in their teens and twenties and they still know dinner is always on the table every night and all are welcome ❤ Love You Liz Edmunds and Lizi Heaps!!!
