    Hmmm I always wondered ... by the time of 3 Kingdoms and to Jin Dynasty wouldn't Ancient China not have exactly been China then? Given we got 16 Kingdoms and Northern Southern Dynasties that amount of chaos and with non Han Chinese peoples ruling these kingdoms how did this recalibrate back to Sui then Tang then again 5 Dynasties and 10 Kingdoms more chaos .... surely then any other nation be it Korea Japan India or Russia or even Western civilization could've tried thier luck on China then?

    • @HeroicHistory-china
      @HeroicHistory-china 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      even during those chaotic times like the Three Kingdoms, Jin Dynasty, and the periods of the Sixteen Kingdoms and Northern and Southern Dynasties, it was still very much Ancient China. You see, although there were non-Han Chinese peoples ruling some of those kingdoms, there was a whole lot of cultural exchange and assimilation going on. The Han culture was already so deeply rooted and influential that it had a way of kind of "pulling things back together" in a sense. And when it came to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, they were able to build on that existing cultural foundation and bring about a new era of prosperity and unity. The idea that other nations could've just "tried their luck" on China isn't really how it worked. China had its own internal dynamics, its own history of resilience and adaptation that kept it going strong. Plus, the geographical and cultural barriers were also factors. It wasn't like it was easy for other civilizations to just waltz in and take over. China has always had its own unique path of development, and even through all that chaos, it managed to find its way back to stability and growth time and time again.

    My favorite Han Dynasty general and there were PLENTY of them. Han Xin was unique, he always marched to the beat of his own drum. Misfits and loners will identify with Han Xin, he was as individualistic as can be, he never fit in, but he had a great mind and obviously a brilliant strategist. Arguably it was Xin who finally brought Xiang Yu to his knees and led to Xiang's final defeat at Gaixia battle. Xin got a bum deal later on bc Liu Bang promised he wouldn't be killed under certain pretext, but Liu's devious wife Empress Lu and Xiao He conspired and still killed him. Without Xin arguably there would be no Han Dynasty

      Well one thing he had in mind throughout his career was "loyalty to the Han", in the pov of pretty much all warlords at the time, Cao Cao's act of seizing the imperial court and relocating it to Xuchang was more or less an act of betraying the Han and using the Emperor as a puppet. Meanwhile Liu Bei opposed Cao Cao and was supposedly of Imperial lineage, so in Zhao Yun, allegiance to Liu Bei = allegiance to the Han. So him siding with Cao Cao would be unlikely I'm afraid.

    I want to add some information to open our understanding about three kingdoms. Three Kingdoms is real historical kingdoms, with real historical content. To state is as real is based on archaeological finding, kingdoms historian text at that time and after it, and from well known writer literary work that can have more complete story, because it take source from several historical text and traditional folk story that inheritage in local society that anchestor related to Three Kingdoms, the well known writer name is LuoGuanZhong that lived in 14th A.D, he made Romance of Three Kingdoms story mostly based on real Empire historical text from Historian name ChenShou that lived on Three Kingdoms era (3rd A.D), and also take some source from another historian that also lived on Three Kingdoms era from Cao Wei Kingdom his name is Sima Yi, and also a little bit from traditional folk story that inheritaged the story because their anchestor related with Three Kingdoms. So story of Three Kingdoms is real story. So what the problem, the problem occure because modern day Chinese Scholars that study this ancient history are less competent, lack of confidence in their own study, unable to have creativity in their mind to been able to understand the complete history of Three Kindoms. They are bunch of pessimistic scholars that causing wrong leading information rumor in society.

      I will give an example real info about Guan Yu The Giant Warlord that possess Superhuman Strenght, Height and Weapon...The Height of Guan Yu is 9 feet based on Romance of Three Kingdoms, Zhang Fei is 8 feet, Liu Pei is 7 feet. The weapon that Guan Yu wield is Green Dragon Crescent Long Sabre. White Reddish Face with Long Beard. Wearing Green Cloth. Guan Yu is killed after his right arm been poisoned by poisonous arrow, that make him unstable to wield his heavy weapon, and later his been trapped and killed by cunning enemy. He is beheaded, his head and body separately burried in different places. His weapon weight around 44,5 kg. Remember Guan Yu is Giant General, not ordinary size human, and already practice weight lifting and martial art before join Liu Bei).

      1 Che (Ruler) in Late Eastern Han Dynasty is 23.5 cm (updated). But 1 feet in Late Eastern Han Dynasty is same with Qin Teracotta Warrior Statue feet, because that statue using real heigh of live Army (heigh of Qin Teracotta Warrior are from 175-200cm) , so 1 feet in Qin and Han Dynasty is similar with 1 feet nowadays. So are they using Che (Ruler) (23,5 cm) or Feet (30 cm) ??? Is still debated. If using Che (23,5 cm) , Cao Cao height is 157,45 cm. Guan Yu height 211,5 cm if using Che (23,5 cm). But still debated are they in that era using ruler Che or using Feet as Measurement, because if they using feet, then their average feet is in same size with nowadays feet size (1 feet = 30 cm). Me personally is more agree that there are two measurement that used in that era using Che (Ruler)(23,5cm) and Feet (30cm), for Che (Ruler) is common used for measure ordinary height person, but for some figure that have height over average ordinary person, they using feet measurement, like Guan Yu height (they must be using feet measurement to make it easy to measure it, similar with Zhang Fei height they also using feet, so if Zhang Fei state 8 , it means 8 feet, meanwhile Zhuke Liang 8, means 8 Che)

    Wait if Qin Shihuang was also obsessed with immortality ... wouldn't he have succumbed sooner than later even before unifying the 7 states as surely even other states could have exploited this and sent some alchemist fangshi with faux type immortality pills to slowly wear him down ...

    • @HeroicHistory-china
      @HeroicHistory-china 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Modern Chinese perspectives on Qin Shihuang are quite mixed. On one hand, he is recognized as a pivotal figure who unified China and laid the foundations for the future imperial system. His contributions to standardizing measurements, currency, and writing systems, as well as initiating massive infrastructure projects like the Great Wall, are highly regarded. On the other hand, his rule is also remembered for its harshness, including heavy taxation, forced labor, and brutal suppression of dissent. Had Qin Shihuang lived longer, it's uncertain if he would have been able to maintain his dominance against figures like Liu Bang and Xiang Yu. The Qin Dynasty faced significant internal strife and rebellions following his death, largely due to his oppressive policies. Liu Bang and Xiang Yu were formidable leaders, and the collapse of the Qin Dynasty was as much about the unsustainable nature of Qin Shihuang's rule as it was about the abilities of these rival leaders. Regarding his obsession with immortality, Qin Shihuang's pursuit of elixirs and alchemical remedies likely hastened his demise rather than prolonging his life. Had other states known about his vulnerability and exploited it with fake immortality pills, it's conceivable they could have weakened him further. However, his death at the age of 49 already underscores the danger and irony of his quest for eternal life.

      @@HeroicHistory-china wait hasn't modern scholarship established the Qin laws whilst strict they also ensured order and it was more of the former nobles of defeated states like Chu just sought opportunities to rebel and they weren't too happy about their homeland being taken by Qin?

    • @zhuangsaur227

      @HeroicHistory-china hello again! I wonder ... Xiangyu was from Chu and Chu was the largest state with huge amounts of resources and people despite its corrupt government and leadership... why didnt Qin tackle Chu earlier and perhaps kill or get rid of all the nobles or the Xiang house clan so a future Xiangyu would not have posed a threat? Given Baiqi flooded Ying and to add insult to injury destroyed the ancient tombs of Chu King's as he marched in with Qin forces then amd yet Chu was able to recover by the time of Qin Shihuang enough to mount resistance as even Wang Jian had to take his time to take down Chu and Chu did give Qin a bloody nose at times in the major battles until Qin was able to overcome Chu as the Chu campaign dwarfed even Changping so surely Qin could have tackled Chu and then dealt with other states and ensured any Chu nobility was either executed or diminished to the point of no future vengeful rebels??? Is that not pragmatic as the Chu folk were not exactly 100% welcoming of Qin and not to mention the saying even down to 3 generations of Chu will stand and take down the Qin ... 🤔

    • @HeroicHistory-china
      @HeroicHistory-china 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Chu was a huge and powerful state, making it tough for Qin to take down easily. Even after Bai Qi's big wins, Chu managed to bounce back because of its size and resources. Qin often had to deal with multiple threats, so they couldn't focus solely on Chu. They tried to isolate and weaken other states first to avoid being attacked from all sides. Wang Jian's long campaigns show just how strong Chu was. Even after all the efforts, Chu's people still had a strong sense of identity and resistance. This deep-rooted animosity made it hard for Qin to completely control them. Eliminating all Chu nobles would have been nearly impossible and wouldn't have guaranteed peace. The cultural and historical pride of Chu meant that resistance was always bubbling under the surface. Ultimately, Qin's strategy was to gradually conquer each state, but the spirit of Chu people and their resistance played a big role in the eventual fall of the Qin Dynasty.

    • @HeroicHistory-china
      @HeroicHistory-china 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The conquered peoples, especially in culturally distinct regions like Chu, were not happy about their homeland being under Qin control. The harsh methods used by the Qin to enforce their rule and the suppression of local traditions and autonomy further fueled discontent and resistance among the former nobles and the general populace alike. This widespread dissatisfaction contributed to the eventual downfall of the Qin Dynasty.

    What do modern Chinese think of Qin Shihuang? Given many historical sources state he was a tyrant and yet without him China would not have been the same in 2000 years of history....

    True history? LUBU NEVER EXIST IN HISTORY!! He was part of hundreds of fiction characters created by Luo Guan Zhong publisher to spice up his novel. True history of 3 kingdoms can be found in Beijing's national archive library where all stories were taken and ONLY taken from ancient records found by archeologists from Royal tombs. The records also matched with one another even they were discovered in different tombs. You will be surprised to find a real HISTORY of 3 kingdoms, such as Liubei a local governor, not sandal maker. Zhangfei a treasury and excel in caligraphy and poem. Lubu and Diaochan were both never EVER explained in any records, therefore they are part of fiction character. Liubei also never volunteered to protect Xuzhou against Caocao and never took any part of Red cliff battle. He however allied with Caocao against Yuanshu and defeated by Sunce who served as Yuanshu vanguard. In Luo's novel, suprisingly mentioned Sunce was busy expanding his domain in South, which was not true at all. To explain the confusion people have. Luo Guanzhong was a novelist, not a historian. He own large business of publishing stories. This is the time when China invented printing press, where they can print stories in thousands per day, compared to other nation that still relying on human power to copy every single word one by one. China in Ming dynasty was prosperous and everyone demanded for entertainment. Many folklore stories for the first time created, printed in this era, hence creating so many legendary stories such as Lore of Guanyin, Erlang, Naza, Journey to the West, Xijinkuei, Women of Yang family, Yuefei, 4 heavenly kings, and of course The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Stories so good, that people build temples to worship fictional characters that linked to historical figure which makes people really believe Monkey King really existed in reality. To even think Luo has a very detail of conversations from commanders, generals even kings from 1000 years prior to his era was simply impossible. Even nowadays it's like you know what Trump, Obama, Clinton talked to each other in their secret meeting. Luo hired dozens of novelist, few historians (people who travel from 1 town to another to collect folk stories), and poets to spice up the whole grand novel. Even for poems in 3 kingdoms novel, they are irrelevant as 1000 years of span, the poetry in Han dynasty is wayyyyyy different style, writings, and sounded compared to Ming dynasty. It's like you compare 1024 culture to 2024 culture, wayyyyyy different. The British at that time won't understand the English you speak nowadays. Not mention if u talk to grandparents with 50 years age gap, they already confuse ur words. lol.

      Thank you for the clarification. It's correct that Diao Chan is a fictional character and not a historical figure, but Lü Bu did indeed exist in history. I am certainly aware of and can distinguish between the novels "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and "Records of the Three Kingdoms," as well as the actual historical events. Additionally, Lü Bu's tomb is located in Hunfeng Village, Hunfeng Township, Xiuwu County, Henan Province, and it has now become a protected cultural heritage site at the county level in China.

      Lǚbù is real in history... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%BC_Bu Liubei is also a part of the Red cliff war According to a popular Chinese comments, Luo guanzhong's this novel is 70% real and 30% fictional.

      Every Chinese dynasty has their official historic book, from Han to Qing, there are 24 history books. This history period is recorded in Records of the Three Kingdoms(三國志),don't confused with the Romance of three kingdoms(三國演義), which is a novel. And you should also know that Chinese character is rarely changed during more than 1000 years, a good Chinese high school student can read a book writen 2000 years ago after his ancient Chinese education(which is 文言文, is like Latin to English). maybe you have no time to read the books, but at least the Wikipedia is a good start.

      Anyone with basic education can distinguish a (at least famous) history figure and a fictional character even if some of they can't distinguish novel plot and real history of a real person, nobody in China believe monkey king is real except young children and fools.

    I wonder Zhuge Liang if he didnt work for Liu Bei and IF Xu Shu never left Liu Bei .... and wasnt the Long Zhong plan really not feasible? Or how Zhuge Liang chose to launch his expeditions against Wei after Liu Beis death ....

    • @HeroicHistory-china

      If Zhuge Liang hadn't worked for Liu Bei and if Xu Shu had stayed, things might have been very different. Xu Shu was talented, but Zhuge Liang had a unique strategic vision that Liu Bei greatly benefited from. Zhuge Liang's Longzhong Plan was ambitious, aiming to form an alliance with Sun Quan and attack Cao Cao's Wei from two fronts. Many believe this plan was too risky and difficult to execute due to logistical challenges and the need to maintain a stable alliance with Sun Quan. After Liu Bei's death, Zhuge Liang launched multiple campaigns against Wei, trying to fulfill Liu Bei's dream of restoring the Han Dynasty. These campaigns showed Zhuge Liang's brilliance but ultimately failed due to lack of resources and strong Wei resistance. Without Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei might not have achieved as much. Zhuge Liang's intelligence and strategic insights were crucial to Shu-Han's success, even if some of his plans didn't fully work out.

      @HeroicHistory-china why was there Liu Beis desire to restore China to the Han Dynasty? What was so unique about the Han Dynasty? Given it had its share of lousy rulers and it initially wasn't exactly the Pro Insta Confucian golden age glorious Neo Zhou Dynasty fantasy of Confucius given early Han Dynasty under Liu Bang had adopted the policies and admin of Qin ...

      @@HeroicHistory-chinawhat is the or what was important about Jing Province? Is it some strategic land that allows control or is it rich in food and natural resources and land? Given if Liu Bei had Shu Han which is of the ancient Shu and Ba provinces the Qin had conquered which already has rich food resources hence Sichuan today is known for its food basin resources so why Jing Province?

      Liu Bei wanted to restore the Han Dynasty because it had a strong legacy of unity and prosperity. He saw himself as part of that heritage and believed reviving the Han would legitimize his rule. The Han Dynasty was remembered fondly for its cultural achievements, economic stability, and Confucian values, even though it had its share of bad rulers. By aligning himself with the Han, Liu Bei aimed to bring back stability and gain support from those loyal to the Han legacy.

      Jing Province was important because it was strategically located along the Yangtze River, making it key for controlling the region and launching military campaigns. It was also a fertile and economically valuable area, rich in resources and crucial for sustaining an army. Despite the wealth in Shu and Ba, Jing's strategic position and resources made it a hotly contested area during the Three Kingdoms period.
