From taping up loose wires to testing the rear ATV winch and repairing the air filter hose, we're starting to bring this Big Boss back to life immediately. It’s clear there’s more work to do, so stay tuned for future updates as I order parts and give it the TLC it deserves!

Sami bale grab. Cool to see a made-in-Estonia product. Is it good?
Yeah its awesome, I'm very happy with it. Got it very lightly used for just $600! I like Sami products, wish there was more of it around here.
@@woodlandwrench I have Sami PH200 log grapple. Back for the Massey, to carry out wood from the forest. Also, have a Sami rock bucket. Good products
Hi, for my 6x6, I bought a winch relay with wireless remote controlls, connected them in paralell, nice to be able to use when out in the woods... there should be a relay for the switch to, mine was located under the panel in front, just behind the head lamp.
Hey, thanks for watching and for sharing your setup! A winch relay with wireless controls sounds like a great upgrade, especially for working in the woods. I’ll check behind the headlamp for the switch relay, appreciate the tip! 🥰
Yes it is a brake lever. Yes, the button is for the winch, but not front and back as you think, but one at a time. the cables to the winch relay are usually routed a little differently, it doesn't really matter where.😊
I see, well I was half right at least! Thanks for bringing some clarity on this, I appreciate it 😇
Congratulations! A Big Boss is a must in the forest and on the farm. I have had mine (2010 model) for 8 years now. Cannot live without it - absolutely a necessity in the forest and around the farm. I use mine all the time - and it is my go-to vehicle. It has to be heavy loads before I take the tractor. But I can see you have your work cut out for you repairing it. But once you get it fixed it will be a very valuable tool for you. Regarding the stuff you were in doubt of: The switch on the left handlebar is for the winch (3 wires for winching in and out). The green plastic is the light for the indicator (it is broken). I cannot emphasise how important it is to check/change the oil (engine, gearbox, middle dif and front dif (Demand Drive)). Get yourself an oil change kit from e.g. Motorspeed.no - and change all the fluids. Also try to fix- or even better - replace the broken speedometer - it contains the second "brain" of the ATV. Give me a shout if you need tips and tricks and what to look out for in your "new" Big Boss. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for the detailed advice and encouragement! It’s great to hear how essential your Big Boss has been-definitely inspiring. I’ll prioritize the oil changes and look into replacing the speedometer. I might just take you up on the offer for tips as I go! Thanks again! 😊
Thank you for the video. I know very little of ATVs, so I can't give you any help on the switches, cut wires or burned fuses. Wiring in general I do know a little bit. Sounds to me like some time will be needed to trace those cut wires to discover where they connected in the past and if they are in good condition to use them again or bypass them. I look forward to seeing the next video. Have a blessed day!
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts! Tracing the cut wires is a great idea. I'll definitely be diving into that soon, so stay tuned for that! Thanks and a blessed day to you as well! 🥰
Før clutch-bytte står for tur evt.

@jix177 Indeed so! Better late than never. Thank you for watching ❤️
Great seeing you on youtube again, always enjoy your videos, you have a nice calmness and realness to you. Looking forward to the logging videos! You have probably answered this before but how many hectares of forest land do you own and work on?
@PurplePunchini Thanks! I appreciate the kind words and am glad to hear you enjoyed the video! ❤️ If I recall, we're about 80 hectares, of which ~45 is forest. It's a medium-sized property around here. Logging videos are coming! I'm just waiting for some decent frost and preferably a bit of snow, too. Would be nice to keep the logs clean when winching so they don't eat sawblades! $$$ (Edit: I miscalculated the property size. It's 800 acres, not hectares! (80 hectares))
@@woodlandwrench Right! I always just assumed it was for the firm ground for the tractor you waited for the frost and snow but of course it helps with the log skidding as well. Do you always skid the logs out to the roads or do you ever enter the forest with the timber trailer? We have a bit of forest in southern Sweden, skidding isn't very common down here, we either drive the tractor with timber trailer as close as possible an winch to the trailer or rent in a forwarder when felling. Then again it's not something we do very often ourself anymore, more for firewood. I enjoy your way of using the old Massey out there, must get pretty hairy sometimes 😅
@@PurplePunchini Yeah the frozen ground has many benefits, especially with some snow on top. Tractor makes less of an impact on the ground, easier to drive on, logs slide better and they stay clean. And also, working in the cold weather is nice! I only drive the blue tractor with the timber trailer on my roads. It's too heavy and doesn't float very well on those road tyres. And since I do snowplowing with it, I can't risk breaking things or getting stuck when there is snow coming down. Interesting to hear that you guys don't skid. We skid quite a bit around here. My neighbor skids the entire sticks and then buck them at designated areas where he picks them up with the timber trailer. If you have nice access and even grounds, then the timber trailer would do just fine. I do have access to a decent amount that I would only need the timber trailer for, but far from all of it! I need a skidder ^^ Some people do hire in forwarders and timberjacks to extract their forests, but we're talking 1000m3+ of logs then, at least. I love logging with the chainsaw, so I'd rather do it myself by hand. Especially since I don't have sections of thousands of m3 that are easily accessible by the timberjacks anyway. Extracting timber here is expensive, for the most part anyway. I could do it in a few areas, but I'll only do it if I absolutely have to. Yeah the old Massey can be both fun and scary! Haha. Thanks for the comment!
@@woodlandwrench Unless we are clear-felling a big area we also always use chainsaws, i agree that it's more intimate and fun. But Sweden is kind of filled with old second hand forwarders, old Volvos, Rottne, Kockums and Ösa that are for sale quite cheap. Even a small land owner can quite cheaply rent or buy a forwarder. But then again, southern Sweden is quite flat compared to Norway, i think there is a big difference in terrain. It's possible they skid more in the north, never looked it up. I can understand not wanting to drive that nice New Holland out into rough terrain on road tires and with that front loader on. We drive an old Deutz 7206 that has seen better days and we are not afraid to put scratches on it. And only two-wheel drive, we have gotten stuck more than once.. Anyway i don't want to fill up your comment section with this. Thanks for answering my questions. Again looking forward to your forestry videos!
@@PurplePunchini It's always fun to hear how things are done elsewhere, I appreciate the conversation. I envy your marketplace having lots of old equipment for a decent price. They are far between here, and if you do find one it's probably located 5 hours from where I live and you can easily expect to pay $20k for a scrap metal worthy forwarder and then another $3k for shipping, haha. I know many of the old rigs are exported to Sweden and Finland where they are restored/rebuilt to go many more miles. I guess the terrain is easier on the machines over there. It's the same with 18 wheelers, they can go 1m+ km in Sweden, but you'd be lucky to get 400-600k out of it here. Apparently everything just gets beaten to death in our country, haha.
Good to be prepared fpr winter. Thank you for the video.

Realltivey easy fix. Freinds of mine had a7840 with some like 12 to 15.000 hoers on the clock witch when they traded it against a ta115 they had to crall under to actu8 the solenoid toload it on the dealerstruck.
I have sometimes replaced the solonoid for Transmission on my NH 8560. Not always that i could messure difference to the other solonoids, but it help to replace them. Solonoids is a weaknes on New holland
@jeppeknattrup Thanks for the comment! Maybe it's worth just replacing it if / when the error comes back.
Sau i kål😂

Tip. The diagnostic connector has been mounted in 2 places. Early models unded the right hand trim and later models on the rear pillar.
Hmm. Is it the same one I used to access the HH menu, or should there be a secondary one on the pillar?
@woodlandwrench Its the same one. In the HH menu you can retrieve the error codes for the different components and thats what they are referring to
@@emilhamilton5200 Ahh. Thank you! Really appreciated 😊
Jag hade en New Holland förut… jävla problemtraktor…
All brands have problem tractors. Especially once you get into the 2004+ models with a lot of electronics and automatic gear boxes, they can become a pain and expensive to maintain.
I agree with another comment. It seems like a loose or dirty connection that has at least temporarily been improved. If you disconnected any other connections after you last checked for error codes and before using the tractor to move the hay bale, then somewhere in those places is likely the issue. And you found one connector without the seal, so perhaps there is another similar one that needs attention. If those are Deutsch connectors, the seals are supposed to do very well, but maybe still a periodic disconnect and reconnect is beneficial for even a little surface corrosion to be scuffed through and a good connection made again. Thank you for sharing the video.
That does sound logical. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! ❤️
A loose connection. Easy fix. My tractor has a bad neutral safety switch. I just jiggle the shifter till it starts. But someday, I will have to fix it, right.
Yeah you're probably right! If it pops up again I'll just have to figure out which connector it was, but that shouldn't take too long. Thanks for the comment ❤️
