    Please don't change anything. I say that to say, what you are doing is important. It is the highest motivation to which a teacher can aspire. Serving others! I've loved all your videos and I love the mental health discussions. No one wants to admit they struggle mentally. I know I don't, but it sure is helpful to have some insight, that maybe, I was heading in an unhealthy direction mentally and how to course correct. Your videos are giving me that. Plus, I enjoy the woodworking!!

    A technique for getting around the lack of a table saw to make edges parallel is to rip the non-jointed edge on the band saw like you did then running the board through the planer on the jointed edge. I know a professional furniture maker that does this for all their boards even though he has a table saw.

    The price for Odie’s Oil in NZ is almost double the price in the US. I use it on many projects and it does go a LONG way. Oh… the price has gone up about 20% in the past 18 months or so.

      I just had a look at the Odie's Oil website. Yeah, it's $55 US, which is $92.70 NZ for 9 ounces. Still a lot for a little! Including shipping it's about $142 NZ from the website.

    Im sorry but its not the manufacturer to blame for the cost of these oils etc, but the manufacturing costs have risen to create these oils have.

    Have a play with making your own. I genuinely agree with you that a lot of finishes are outrageously expensive. But beeswax and regular timber oils are not. And they go a long way. Consider it. It’s a cool science along with making your own paint somewhere down the line

    Stanley started out in New Britain which is in Connecticut. They are quite the yanks. Leonard Bailey didn't work for Stanley either. Stanley bought him out. Stanley buys everyone out. It's what they do.

    There are 2 sets of numbers on your honing guide, chisel projection and plane iron projection, you use them to set the angle. 25º is 50mm, 30º is 30mm projection. It makes it a lot easier and more consistent to set it up.
