How to Setup a Digital Tap Menu Using Taplist.io | Walkthrough and Setup!
I own 2 Grainfather GF30s and they have built in cooling jackets, so much easier than a cooling coil to clean. Your list is wrong!!!
Im going to build something similar. That screen is a good idea. I think you also have to isolate the beerline against condensation. You dont want mold in the wall.
Have fun! I really enjoy it. Regarding the mold - I have not seen anything of concern yet.
I have been using the original BRUAMEISTER 50L. Absolutely the BEST! HANDS DOWN! this was the first one if not one of the first to market with single vessel. Absolute high quality. Easiest to run as it pumps from the bottom. NO FITTINGS TO CHANGE POSITION AS YOU BREW. Never have to disconnect here and connect there.... Dough in , Mash, Lift lauder and drain (and sparge if you wish), boil, chill...done. NEVER DISCONNECT, move to another port and re-connect etc. ALL super high-quality SS. What you expect from German engineering. Worth the price All day long!!!
You are not comparing like with like! The variety of malts would surely affect the potential efficiency. You should be doing each recipe both the "proper" way and the "cold way" and comparing. I have consequently stopped watching the video half way through :) I had been hoping for a revelation! Actually I'd already seen the Brulosophy episode on this topic.
So with the clawhammer system, without sparging you can expect to get 60% efficiency?
Currently getting about 70%, I cant recall the examples I recorded in this video but keep in mind the sample size is small. Efficiency is impacted by a ton of different factors. The equipment you use is just one factor.
HI Matt! I just purchased my system and I have been missing my expected OG by 12-13 points on each brew. I use Brewfather to create recipes and use the default equipment profile for the 120V Clawhammer system. Its expecting an efficiency of about 70%, does that seem to high and possibly the reason for missing my OG by the same measured amount? Im really stumped on this. Otherwise love the system!
Hello, was it a one time miss or are you consistently under by that much? Missing OG can be caused by a ton of factors but there are some things that may be able to help. 1: double crush grains, BIAB allows for that. 2: Sparge instead of doing full water volume in mash. (I have a video on sparging) 3: Account for the volume loss and use either less water or more grain when planning 4: Take pre-boil gravity readings and adjust with DME until you can get more data.
@@TroubleBrewing so far i have been missing consistently about the same amount. I will try double crushing next time to see if that helps as i have read for a no sparge BIAB, double crushing helps a lot. I will look to keep some dme on hand going forward to be safe as well because if I used any less water, I wouldnt hit my batch volume. Thanks for the response
Love the funky 80,s retro background tunes lol 🎉😅
On a Wemos D1 I flashed Tasmota 14.2.0 Sensor release. I had to change to D6(GPIO12) = DAT and D5(GPIO14) = SCK. Now HX711 weight is displayed. But I am still struggeling with the wireing of the sensors
13:30 you mean celsius or fahre these fermentation degrees?
Fahrenheit
wanted to see how the new inline worked , how much it made ? did you post another video with full working explanation ?
Great run down and review. And OBTW, I love, love, LOVED you in Harry Potter!
I just purchased the same sink/faucet and am curious why you initially clean off the Clawhammer outside as opposed the sink. Because of all the hop debris? Are there some things you’re not comfortable pouring down the drain? Thanks!
I usually do my best to remove the hop debris so it does not go into the pump.
@@TroubleBrewing thanks! Forgot you’re using a pump for the draining.
How much watts of do you think this cooler cool? Lets day a PC drawing around 800 watts from the wall.
I got my most efficient lauter and sparge by accident. My mash tun is a cooler with a steel braid strainer. I cleaned out my mash tun, dumped in the strike water, stirred in the grains, then realized I left the strainer out. Rather than messing up my temperature at that point, I let the mash sit for two hours. Then I scooped the grain out of the cooler into buckets, cleaned out the spigot so it wouldn't clog, put the strainer back in, put the mash back into the cooler, and rinsed the scoop and the buckets with sparge water. I ended up with a higher gravity than I was shooting for. That extended mash coupled with the extra handling must have squeezed more of the goodies out of the grain.
Trying to decide on the 10 gallon or 20 gallon I want to do high gravity beers and wines. Do you think the 10 has done everything you wanted to do.
Oh yep! I dont have issues with high gravity stuff, you can always bump up gravity by adding DME/sugar as well.
Very helpful video, thanks for that. I saw that the bottling/canning pressure is 6 psi, but what is the pressure, temperature and for how long do you carbonate the beer? Thank you!
I typically do 35psi for 1 day and then go down to serving pressure (10 psi), Its fine after one day but after a few more days the carb level is perfect.
@@TroubleBrewing , Thanks pal! Cheers!
Excellent video, thank you! Will be trying this later in the week. Cheers!
This is amazing!! I would love to attempt this. Thank you so much! Liked and subscribed 😊
I would think that for salts if you put 7 gal worth in up front and then mashed with 6 and sparged with 1 would be the same as if you spread out the salts over mash and sparge
I would agree with that! I cant recall what was exactly discussed in this video but that is how I do water chemistry and just account for the final volume!
If we need cooler temperature, do you think we can use alcohol instead of glycol ?
Im not sure! I would think you could, but I would double check the impact alcohol may have against the components that it would be in contact with.
Wow Man! thanks so much for putting this together. I actually have a spreadsheet on SS conical fermenters that I just spent several hours making today - then I found this! so much bet ter than mine. 🤣 THANK YOU
How do you avoid over filing the keg (which I'm assuming will just spill out the gas disconnect)? Could you use a check valve gas disconnect which I'm thinking will just stop the flow when liquid hits it? My brew batches are normally a couple of litres more than the 19 litre corny and i transfer into a purged but open corny so I see when it's full and i just bottle the extra.
What about the vevor?
I didn't understand why you needed the reducer? Could you elaborate? And does the reducer reduce the overal effect?
the reducer was just so I could connect the duct to the equipment.
Great video! When you note that you aren't going to use glycol or a fan for your lines because they are less than 6 feet, are you referring to the length of the lines outside of the keezer? Or the total length of the lines? I'm looking to move my beer taps to the top of my bar and I am going to need to run my lines outside of my kegerator. The length from kegerator to tower is probably about 3 feet and the last thing I want is foamy beer! Thanks!
There is probably about 3 feet of line outside my keezer. Regarding the foam, the first pour every day is a bit foamy but after that it pours just like normal for the day. That first pour gets the line cold enough where it is not a problem. Up to you though!
@@TroubleBrewing Thanks for the reply! I'll give it a shot. Guess I can always find some way to cool it later if the beer is a bit foamy. Again great video and thanks for answering my question. Cheers!
I saw u like harry potter ❤
2 Questions...if you have multiple fermenters, you would just have multiple pumps in the ice chest correct? Also, are you going to make any more videos? Enjoy them very much.
Correct! One for each fermenter. Also I’m working on an update video for one of my older videos right now. Life kinda got busy with the kids so that’s why I’m not uploading on a schedule anymore. I may upload more in the future though. Happy you enjoy the videos!
@@TroubleBrewing I get it...I have 6 kids...same wife....beer leads to kids...kids lead to beer..repeat.
Everyone should really understand the Beer coming from the Keg to the Taps MUST be relatively COLD and it's a shame, but I would have liked to see him pour beer. Because it would be a ton of foam beer. He doesn't have a true method or proper insulation to keep the Beer at a cold temp to avoid foaming. Let me know if anyone has built something like he has shown and it worked. I'd be VERY surprised to see no foam. Especially if the beer sits in the line for more than 10 minutes then pour from the Tap. ANYONE'S Thoughts???
Hello! The first pour of the day I would say the glass is half foam and if you let it settle for about 5 minutes you just top it back off. You mention that it would take 10 minutes for you to have another foam issue, this is just not the case unless you have a very warm place were the lines would be. After the first pour there are no issues for the day. You can go through the trouble of keeping the lines cold; which I do link to a resource on how to do that, but I find that just waiting 5 minutes after the first pour of the day is not significant enough of an issue to set this up. Up to you though! Let me know if you have questions.
You should have a lot more subscribers!! Watched like 5 of your videos in a row.
Thanks for checking out my videos and I appreciate it!
Something to be cognizant of is that you're pulling a vacuum on the inside of your house. Air will need to come back in from the outside to replenish what you're exhausting. Those big fans move a lot of air. This can be dangerous if you're also running a natural gas furnace or water heater as the exhaust can be caused to back up into your house and lead to carbon monoxide issues.
Good call out! I do have a window I can open up in the same room.
Your a hero and should be recognized for the beer nobel prize. I was about to literally do this same experiment with 4 batches of the same exact grain bill and see the efficiency results. Saved me a lot of work and now my wife wont divorce me. Subbed
I whole heartedly agree, I'd love to see the numbers for 4 simple and identical grain bills, like 4 smashes but the fact that you have done this at all is awesome! I have just today heard of overnight mashing as well... I may not have to chose between remembering my kids faces and making beer any more!
You seem to have missed Klarstein.
Ill have to check this out when I have some down time! Thanks!
I've in the process of trying to do this myself, but I'm having some calibration issues. I've been nosing around with a multimeter to see if I can find anything strange, but haven't yet. Do you have any advise on how to troubleshoot the wiring, or are there any resources online that could be useful?
There are similar videos to mine that setup the same thing but the software side is a bit different. Also there is a similar video that does this but its for propane tanks. You can poke around but I think we probably cover similar things on the hardware side. What issues are you seeing with calibration? I have recently been messing with this again and I have noticed one thing that I'm working through, so I'm curious if we are seeing similar issues.
great interview.
No one noticed the SNES mario music but me?!?!??! Love it 🎶
Wow dude thank you for putting in this work. You da mon. ya mon.
Thanks for this video and Excel sheet. However, should the low-budget fermenter Best Value be the Anvil Crucible instead of the Anvil Foundry, as this is an AIO system?
Good catch! Mistype on my part. Corrected!
Great video!
You can pull up and twist the ring on your lid's pressure release valve 90 degrees to lock it into an open position.
Matt, really well done video and I’m about to embark on the same journey of three taps through the wall. A year later, do you have anything you wish you would have done differently or is the system doing well?
Thanks for checking out the video! Overall I wouldn't change a thing. I do find that the first pour pours more foam then subsequent ones (im assuming this is because the lines above the freezer are room temperature?) So maybe implement some system to keep the lines cold above the freezer. But this really is not a big deal and I only would consider this if I'm really bored one day... The only other thing I can think of is I find that you really need to torque down on the handles so they don't move around on ya and you may need 2 people to tighten those down. Cheers!
What does dedicated site mean? Could you add a definition at the bottom to explain what each column means and why you decided to include it. Thx
Hello! Dedicated site just means that the manufacturer has a dedicated site to sell the product. Its not a massive deal, just decided to include it in the spreadsheet.
How did you get the circ pump stay attached to the bottom of the cooler?
My pump just sits at the bottom. The weight of the pump just drags it down. Does your pump float?
I was wondering if your inline fan is still working? I did something similar and the fan quit on the first brew. Maybe moisture or just junk. Thank you!
Yep, no issues here. Sorry to hear your fan is not working. Did you use the same fan I did?
It looked similar but not exactly the same. I was looking for one that had a good rating for being water resistant/waterproof. Great to hear yours is still working and see they still have it. Cheers and thanks for the quick response
@@jimlewis7938 yea get that return done! They are not cheep!

elementary brewing co. sent me your way. thought id check it out. looks good. i struggle sometimes as well making beer clear. perhaps if i skim the protein and use whirlfloc i think id be golden. i bought some finings so ill use it on my next beer. light lager is my next to brew but not sure when ill get around to it. have a few recipes that im going to flip a coin and see which one will be next
Thanks for checking out the video! I find that time is always the best thing to get beers clear! Most of my lagers need a few weeks. I also skip the lagering phase because im lazy so that also doesnt help lol.
Hi Matt. Thanks for the video, I'm likely to create a fermentation chamber similar to yours, given I'm in a colder climate (Tasmania, Australia). Now that you've had this chamber for a few years, have you found that it works perfectly every time, or is there anything that you'd do differently? i.e. extra heating elements? Does it stay cool enough on it's own during Summer to not require a cooling system? Thanks in advance.
I have not had an issue with it! Kept it warm enough for lagers.
