Im having trouble finding the 3 part series fo this. Where is part 2? Did you scratch up the pasture before seeding or direct sow into existing grass?
I direct seed into the grass and then cut the grass. The cut grass acts as a layer of soil to protect the seed and hold moister. I do not disturb the soil at all. Sorry you can't find the other video. Have a great week.
Wonder how many years they have to grow before we see a flower/ready to plant in ground. I want to try!
You should see significant growth in the first year under perfect conditions
Great information! thank you for documenting this. I am just planning my greenhouse and this is very valuable
Glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with your greenhouse.
You should have bought a hydraulic top link, they are great
They seem very nice but I don’t have back hydraulics. Thanks for the feedback
We have sheep and I went the high tensile electric way to start. Then just 2 days ago I watched a neighbors dog run straight through it. I instantly went and bought the red brand woven wire and will putting up shortly. I wish I would have seen this video to begin with, but you live and you learn. How well do you reckon the woven wire protects against dogs and coyotes? I can only assume it’s much safer. Anyway, thanks for the video!
I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I’ve had great success with my woven wire. Save your high tensile and use it as a one line hot wire on the inside just 18” above the ground. This is more to keep the sheep (goats more than sheep) from leaning up against the woven wire when shedding fur. Have a great week.
you did big mistake you lost important thing first collect opiem after save seed
Flexible top link should always be run on a rotary cutter, it's hard on them when you run a solid top link.
Sounds good. Thanks for the tip. Have a great week.
Just about to finish mine. 6x3 meters or 20x10 feet. Did a pretty deep footer 50cm or 1.64 feet. Dug the trenches with a shovel, did all the work myself. On top of the foundation a layed a wall out of bricks, height of 4 bricks, then wooden planks screwed in to the bricks. On top of all that the greenhouse. Gets about 6 hours of direct sunlight. Could borrow some of the tools needed from friends. My costs as of now: Greenhouse plus delivery $1900 Gravel for the foundation and bricks $350 Cement $300 Bricks(reused old bricks) free Equipment etc. $350 Total $ 2900 Costs in Sweden
That sounds like a great setup. Keep me posted on how you use it in the cold Sweden winter. Have a great weekend
Where do you buy the wrench Abruzzi? Anywhere local? I’m from Winfield. Thanks
Fayette Co- Op. Thanks for reaching out. Have a great week.
Thanks for sharing these upgrades. Did you buy that brush guard in the front of the hood too?
I did. I purchased from Scott's Kubota in Russellville, Alabama. Probably the best parts and customer service I have ever worked with. Great group. Be careful of aftermarket and make sure you measure your guard before getting the brush part - there are different sizes for some and it can cost you extra if you order for the year and make of tractor without measuring. Have a great week.
@@StewartFarmApiary thanks for tip!
@@FLOrchardHome you are very welcome
What ratio of tea towater do you mix in your sprayer when you spray the fields?
Straight tea. It is not going to burn your plants. It’s all organic. The more the better
My costs: Planta Sungrow 32' and 3 non-auto windows, shipping - $5800 Ground work and 18" gravel - $4000 8" Concrete Slab - $3930 Electrical run - $1000 Soil - $1000 Wood for raised beds inside - $650 Total - $16,380 not including heater, plants, etc.
... and just to head off the 'why not just bury the feet, etc.' question. We get 65mph winds here in Maine all winter. The greenhouse would blow away. A wood base might last 4 - 5 years because of the harsh winters here.
I totally get it - I lived in Rhode Island and know the winds of New England well. Thanks for the feedback. I’m sure you love it. Have a great week
I’ve only seen pars matched up with hydraulic top link 20 7/8 - 30 7/8.
thanks for the feedback
I’m sick of the earthway shooting the seed to the left. I use for food plots and I have heavy and light strips where the seed goes to the left
I just simply think there are better options and products out there after using both. The Solo spreader was a game changer for me with the spreading and the easy cleanup. I'll never go back to the old Earthway again.
Thank you for this!
You are very welcome. Thank you for the feedback. Have a great week.
I don't fool with goats anymore because they find it to be a game to get out. Cows and sheep stay in easy. I like woven but 5 strand high tensile is way cheaper, it is. Use wood corners and timeless posts. Done.
Great feedback. Thanks and have a great week.
Great video, help full. Thanks
Thank you for the kind words. Have a great week.
Can i use these for figs?
I think they will be too narrow for a fig tree
Carlos "bronze" muscadine.
Thank you.
We are doing same in central KY. 2 years in, already seeing amazing progress.
Yes - time and patience. It’s amazing. Thanks for the feedback.
I totally agree. But so many farmers are spraying- ? I don’t get it.
Simply doing what their fathers and grandfathers did. No change is the lazy way. Thanks for the feedback.
Love the series! The reason a north/south orientation is preferable is regardless of your latitude there will be equal full sun to all plants in the greenhouse. East/west orientation will put more sun on the south face in the spring and fall. If you’re trying to extend the growing season, N/S works best. If you have issues with too much sun, shade fabric is the answer.
Thanks for the feedback. I have not had any trouble with equal sun. The greenhouse is mainly for germination-young growth, and off season warmth for perennials. I use a shade fabric ( 50%) all summer. Thanks again - have a great week.
Hate your sweater, VOTE BLUE
What are you talking about. It a TRIUMPH SWEATSHIRT. what does a motorcycle have to do with voting??
I just got some clippings from a friend and have just transferred to potting soil now how long does it take for them to flower? The leaves are about a foot long now.
It’s hard to say - the clipping I propagated just had numerous blooms on them. You should target for around 9 months with perfect conditions
Thanks for sharing this great idea❤
Thank you for the kind words. I hope you can find them useful. Have a great week
plant the asian one... its superb.. this one is badd
Thanks. I’ll add to my list of seeds to purchase. These actually turned out really nice. Maybe give them another chance. Have a great week.
@@StewartFarmApiary thanks my man. I tried the round one and low yield and I tried Asian one long and huge yield also prune 2 days i do and add some miracle grow and vegetable wastes
How did yow anchor down the wood frame?
I didn't. I have a friend that is an engineer and he calculated the weight and height of the structure as well as the placement. There was not a need in my case. My winds come from the west - I positioned the greenhouse to where the least amount of wind resistance would be where the doors are and it also added to airflow ( which has greatly helped to reduce the heat in the summer). I hope this helps............with the 6x6 treated and it only being 8' tall there just wasn't a reason. I also have a lot of trees around the greenhouse which cuts down on wind resistance also.
We find it better to brodcast the seed first ... and then chop & drop over top of the seed. Significantly more seed germinates that way in our Fields.
Totally agree. The field was just high and the broadcast spreader would have thrown out way too much seed at the rate I was moving. Thanks for the feedback.
What seeds did you originally sow and what month? No grazing for how long? I did sprigs one year, no rain, no grass. Next year did seeds per instructions. Just a big expense for nothing. Would like to try your method. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks
I am in the south of the united states so it is very dry in the autumn months. If you are doing this for pasture and not hunting then you can get away with waiting a while to plant and then time it around some rain when it cools down. In the past I have planted on Labor Day weekend but this year I will closer to october. Temps will still be up and there will be some rain. check your lime levels also. Takes about a year for the lime to really get in and until then you may loose a good amount of germination. Also, once lime levels are up, lightly harrow the ground - you will activate some seeds in the soil that did not germinate because the levels were low. I hope this helps.
I personally use a timeless post with cheap carabiners for jobs like this
Yes, they work well also. I like the mobility of this. Thanks for the feedback. Have a great week.
I would have used washers and better screws. Also, you should prepare a rat wall to prevent animals from digging underneath. Those groundhogs are horrible diggers.
Interesting suggestions - Did you use these screws and washers on the foundation you built? Thank you for the feedback. How old is the greenhouse you have?
@@StewartFarmApiary I have a potting shed and I am just getting ready to build a new foundation for another garden shed, so I have been watching hundreds of videos on this. The professional contractors are all recommending these types of screws with washers: TimberLOK by FastenMaster Black Ecoat Hex-Head Exterior Structural Wood Screws. They predrill to get the screw started and it goes in easy. NONE of the videos I watched about building a base have ever considered the rat wall when in the initial stages. It's always an afterthought once an animal has done all the damage. It's a lot easier to build a rat wall at beginning then after your building is contructed.
@@HYTELES Ah. I understand. Thanks for the feedback. Have a great week.
We unfortunately bought their sungrow greenhouse and wished we hadn't. I could have built a better greenhouse using wood. The whole project was nothing but a pain. They have several ways to view the instructions and they often inflict each other, they shorted the screws, and we had to buy a sheet of polycarbonate because the top pieces were not cut big enough.
I hate to hear that. I honestly had a great time putting mine together and am on my third spring with no issues.
My grandma did the same - laid down in soil and put a rock over the stem where it went in the ground. She could grow anything! Had beautiful hydrangeas , azaleas, lantania and others. Thank you for this awesome video !
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, we can learn so much from the older generation. Have a great week and thanks again.
Great topic!!!! I had the same issue with my lil' Kubota BX!!!! Cost me a day of getting started as I didn't realize I would need a new top link either. Still, I would never own another tractor without the Pat's easy change system. It's an absolutely awesome product!!!!! Once I got a new (longer) top link from Tractor Supply, I was good to go!!!!
I agree about always having one moving forward. It’s a huge game changer. Thanks for the feedback. Have a great week.
I have also seen issues with getting the PTO to reach. however if you buy a PTO link system the added length makes it match up nicely
I didn’t have any issues but I’m sure that would also be one based on the make/model/year of tractor. Thanks for the feedback.
What zone are you in?
8a
Can you use with fertilizer
Yes. Just wash it out really well with some dawn detergent and rinse well. Thanks.
Hey, nice helpful video, thanks. A couple of questions for you - how has this aerator worked out for you? I watched the video and bought almost the exact same one. I have found it to be a bear to hook up by myself - pretty much have to be exactly lined up both back distance and side to side. Got any suggestions or remedys? I am thinking i might try to put a trailer coupler on mine. I can not weld so i will kind of bolt it to the existing connector. Should help with the occasional very short backup i have cencountered. Also will drop the need for an additional type connector. Any other thoughts / updates? Thanks.
Great question - easy fix. I pull the pins on the lift bars on back to where they will both widen or close. Put a drawbar in your holes and it will allow the drawbar to move from left to right. Ease tractor back and adjust right to left to fit the middle hole on drawbar. If you have telescoping lifter arms you can connect drawbar to aerator first and then put one end in lift bar hole then muscle the over on. I have put handle on top of cinder block to allow easy backing up also. I hope this helps. I still love this thing. I’ve started overseeding my pastures then running aerator over after seeding. Pushes seed to ground and first rain the seeds fall in holes and I have much more success. I hope this helps. Have a great week
Ha! Great answer thank you. I just got my aerator and have only hooked it to my side by side. First connect not too bad - no water. Second - w water - what a bear. I did put a fiber glass rod on my hitch and one in the ground - by the connect rod - helps but not great. I like using the utv - faster. Was going g around some cow patties in the field. Decided too much effort to avoid. Started running over patties - once stopped - what a mess on the back of the utv. A few things to learn. Thanks
Question. Did you need to add a 4 inch PTO extension too? I purchased the other style quick hitch, I think I am going to change to pat’s.
Thanks for the question. No - I just attached and all was good. Make the switch. You will not regret. Have a great week.
That lamb was cracking me up.
Yes, Pearl is quite a character. Thanks for the comment. Have a great week
Awesome looking barn in the background. Would be nice to do a video of it.Nothing like a wood barn.
Kind words - thank you. My grandfather built a tobacco barn in southwest Virginia in 1923 and before it collapsed I went up and took exact measurements. In 2002 I paid tribute to him ( he died in 1970) and built the exact barn. It has never had an electrical price of equipment on it - all boards were cut with a Stanley wooden handled saw. It took me an entire year. Probably the only tobacco barn in the state of Alabama. I also have his tobacco planter and his old tobacco sticks in the loft. Thanks again for the kind words.
@StewartFarmApiary That's awesome, looks like you did one heck of a job.I am going to build a wood barn from the trees on my property. I bought the Kubota 2502 to help with the project, and it helps my brother has a sawmill. I am in the Missouri Ozarks and have plenty of timber.
Am I the only one on YT that calls the night-blooming cereus "Babe in a Manger"? My largest plant was gifted to me by a patient in '92. Easiest plant to propagate ever...just jam a stem in the dirt and forget about it. A no-brainer.
I’ve never heard it called that. Interesting. Thanks for the info - have a great day.
Amazing video
Thank you for the kind words. I’m glad you liked it. Have a great week.
Awesome setup! I put a chain in the loader tube, and built a chainsaw scabbard on the back. That has been a big upgrade too
Great ideas. My loader tube is too small and shallow to put one on. I wish I could. Thanks for the feedback.
Your brush hog should be a little higher in the rear than the front. Your owners manual should say that.
It probably does but I prefer it level. Thanks for the feedback. Have a great week.
Ive worked on Ag equipment for over 15y. I've never heard that the cutter should sit higher in the rear. It should sit level.
Will the vinegar kill everything or just centipede grass? It is invading my flower beds😢
It will kill everything
We hate centipede grass since it spreads into our garden areas. What can we use other than Round Up to eliminate centipede grass? If we mix vinegar and salt, will that kill centipede grass?
Yes, you can use vinegar. That is what the video explains. Have a great day and thanks for the feedback.
