I've really never know a reason to put in the freezer. If you are planting them the next season then they will be fine out in the open while drying. You just need to make sure that they are completely dried out regardless of what you do with them over the winter because they will be affected if you store them even remotely damp. I have heard once seeds of zinnias are dried out to put in plastic zip lock bags and put in freezer. Is this ok to do?
