    Hi there. I am having a problem putting one of the brakes back into the wheel, or rather can’t get the wheel over the lining. Left is fine and on but right is not. Got any tips for lining the shoes up correctly?

    I really hope that before you filmed this you checked that the old linings were not asbestos?

    • @836dmar
      @836dmar 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, that took 6 years. Unless you atomize and breath asbestos over a lot of time, there is nothing in this process to worry about. Handling asbestos will not harm you. For others who own an old car, fear not! This is a good example of how it's done. You can also pay someone else to do the scary parts for you by using the exchange services. That is probably best if safety is your first observation but there is a lot more like swedging studs in hubs, truing drums, and arcing shoes. Semi trucks, dump trucks, etc still use drum brakes. Such shops might be another resource for the labor. Keep them running!

    You probably know by now but one of the fittings on top goes to the manifold for vacuum and one just goes to the atmosphere. The big one on top goes to the fuel line. When the manifold vacuum is on it sucks gas from the tank in the back into the upper chamber. When the vacuum is off, the fuel in the upper chamber drains into the lower chamber by gravity and the atmosphere has to get in. The lower chamber never has any vacuum. That lower chamber drains to the carb by gravity.

  • @hyzercreek

    That's not a needle valve, it's just to line up the float and keep it from rocking around.

      No, they can go either way unless your just changing rings without a bore, then I would mark them so the go back the same way as they came out.

    Hello, I am following your restoration of the Dodge with great interest. For more than thirty years I have bought a Dodge touring from 1919 in the USA and shipped it to the Netherlands. According to the sellers, the Dodge was completely restored, but I thought it could be better. After restoration of several old-timers, it was the turn of the Dodge two years ago. I completely stripped it, did some welding here and there and repainted it. At the moment I am working on the reduction, the engine is running again after years of standing so it is going in the right direction. Sincerely, Harry

    Mine was rebuilt, Tom Meyers Built it for Me! So I know it`s good, But I am not getting fuel into it! It seems like the engine is not pulling a vacuum, Is their a trick in timing these Cars, To get things working correctly! My Car is a 1925 Dodge, I have to prime the pump before I can run it, Then it drains out, The Car stops dead! AGRAVATING as Hell! I believe I have Carburetor issues as well! My 25 Chevrolet has the same pump, And it works very well!

    • @hyzercreek
      @hyzercreek 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably have a leak in your gaskets. I got rid of the cork gaskets and used rubber. Any leak in the gaskets and you will have no vacuum

    • @TreadTalk247
      @TreadTalk247 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check your wiper vacuum line, that is where my leak was on our 1927 Buick. Also check to make sure the fuel pick up is sealing properly to the fuel tank itself. As soon as I fixed my vacuum leak at my wiper I’ve had zero issues since! Also, in this video he used two cork gaskets, I only used one and had good luck this way. It’s been four years since I rebuilt the S&W Vacuum tank and it works flawlessly now.
