DRONE MUSIC PIECE - TAPE RECORDER / GUITAR AND MODULAR SYNTH
This long drone music piece is my contribution to the "asynchronous drone orchestra" back in May 2023 for the Drone Day, a remote collaborative project for which @chelidonframe asked nine different electronic musicians to share a 10 or more minutes sound, be it a drone, a field recording, or a more elaborate sound: those noises have been then mixed and combined resulting in a choral soundscape. I was managing my datas and I found back the video I made for this piece. I thought it would be good to share it...

Thank you ! The guitar drone is done thanks to a EHX Superego and reverb. And the lead is made with OBNE darkstar in delay mode with few attacks. Do you know these pedals ?

@@alastpicturefromvoyager Yep. I keep 2 of them. The jobber deck and the "corpse" for parts. Next repair is the first wheel after the supply reel. It seized and started skating on the moving tape, making a sound like a bow on a violin.

Hi ! Here the length of the loop depends of the type of loop I want to make : Long or short. But not of the sound itselft. How the sound will turn around is quite unpredictable in this case. Really nice ideas... very creative.... love the cassette loop idea in a 4 track! I remember many years ago a friend made me a nice improv piano CD.. just a one off.. but the CD stopped working many moons ago (CD disk rot) and I've not been able to listen to it for 20 years... and the sad thing is my friend passed away 5 years ago. To think an old cassette from the 70s/80s has lasted longer speaks volumes.

This was beautiful! So long ago now, I remember being in a punk band trying to record on that very same Tascam. Terrible for that task given our experience in using the gear or pre amps or mics and mixing etc haha. But this makes me want to see if I can get a hold of that machine again and integrate some tape loops into my modular stuff. So cool! Thanks for making the video!
