Communities secretary, Micheal Gove has given the all clear for Make’s £700m ITV Studios redevelopment - Feb 2024. I remember the building as new after London Weekend Television moving from its Wembley studios in 1968, did see some shows at LWT, The Rag Trade and Aspel & Co, struggling to remember, now in my late 60’s, did meet the late Dickie Davies from World of Sport, and watched the late Cilla Black in reception one afternoon.

I walked past it today covered in scaffolding. Couldn’t believe the words Thames Television Studios were never taken down after the front of it was used to recreate the Today Show with the Sex Pistols. So it’ll brought to the ground as Thames Television not LWT or even ITV studios. Sad day that decision was ever taken by ITV to walk away from it

Saturday 29th December 2018; the later parts are missing. They could have emphasised more on the classic shows such as World of Sport, Hale & Pace etc; this is what gets my goat nowadays:- focus loads on daytime shows from recent years with little to no attention on classic shows from yesteryear. Yes with LWT' s rich history going back to 1968 & their shakey start in the first 18 months, they could have given more time to the early shows & programmes- ok some were made at the old Rediffusion studios , but many went on to be made at Kent House after 1972 .

Hadn’t been in that building since it was London Weekend Television, I remembered last watching Aspel & Co before the show ended in 1993, looking at some shows, it’s probably much earlier that 1993. I once met Dickie Davies before he went on air in World of Sport, that in the 80’s, saw Cilla Black in reception, how time has flown, read in a contribution magazine that the buildings staying, as itv can’t offered to demolish it, and builds see site, despite the council agreement, they will lease some of the studios, have to see what happens next.

I saw Janet Dibley four times in that clip, had seen some shows there many years ago as London Weekend Television, all that hype then, means nothing now after its intended demolition to take place in 2018, Lambeth Council giving the go ahead with 140 job losses, just like the rest of the television industry going to pot.

Even worse, ITV have announced that they are cancelling their plans to return to The London Studios - they will remain on Television Centre in a permanent occasion. It's sad knowing that London won't have any original TV facility anymore. Current Television Centre is a work of refurbishment, the Thames Television's studios were demolished, and now, about to be hit by a wrecking ball, the London Studios, which has been there since the 70s.
