Communities secretary, Micheal Gove has given the all clear for Make’s £700m ITV Studios redevelopment - Feb 2024. I remember the building as new after London Weekend Television moving from its Wembley studios in 1968, did see some shows at LWT, The Rag Trade and Aspel & Co, struggling to remember, now in my late 60’s, did meet the late Dickie Davies from World of Sport, and watched the late Cilla Black in reception one afternoon.

Studio 5 was built as a rehearsal room later used for World of Sport

@@jacksugden8190 World of Sport was taken over by London Weekend Television when ABC Weekend Television lost their franchise come 1968. However Studio 5 wasn't up and ready until 1972 as LWT didn't move into their London Studios on the south bank until 1972.

I've been in "Kent House" myself! I went to see a show that Chickenshed filmed in Studio 1 the largest! I loved it! Every time I see it , it always makes me think of LWT! I always call it Kent House too , not The London Studios!

I saw Janet Dibley four times in that clip, had seen some shows there many years ago as London Weekend Television, all that hype then, means nothing now after its intended demolition to take place in 2018, Lambeth Council giving the go ahead with 140 job losses, just like the rest of the television industry going to pot.

Even worse, ITV have announced that they are cancelling their plans to return to The London Studios - they will remain on Television Centre in a permanent occasion. It's sad knowing that London won't have any original TV facility anymore. Current Television Centre is a work of refurbishment, the Thames Television's studios were demolished, and now, about to be hit by a wrecking ball, the London Studios, which has been there since the 70s.

@@MondySpartan it's crazy demolishing TV history like this .The studios at Teddington Lock have history & memories going back to the early days of ITV & even to the pre war era!
