    This is simply not true. The "h" letter does not react as the "S" one. Try make it with a shape like in this video and you will see it does not work. The translate surface option will work on ONLY ONE SURFACE. His method is the correct one. I don't even know how the "h" letter got debossed. It shouldn't. th-cam.com/video/OJrTd1sATYE/w-d-xo.html

    I was reviewing this, again, would using "style spline" allow you the same control? Hope you have a quick answer, I'm too lazy to re drawing with style spline.. BTW, I was trying to use 3D sketch to create a triangular pyramid. 1. So, I accomplished this in a single 3d sketch. Cool, right? 2. Then I "tried" to use planar surface = fail. 3. Then I "tried" to right click for the "selection manager" = fail. 4. WTF, my conclusion is that 3D sketches are waste of time when surfacing, because you have to create a single 3D sketch per surface. 5. Only useful thing about 3D sketch is to create a splined connector line between surfaces for defining a guide line. Can you think of any other use for 3D sketch to assist in surfacing?

    This is cool, but how do you that in reverse? What I mean is having a part that has something (logo or letters) embossed on a surface and take it out, mantaining the original surface with its curvature. Any idea how?? Thanks!

    One suggestion, whenever you need to select a line tool or trim tool , use right mouse button and hold it in the empty 3D space. This way will help you save a ton of time. When you’re done using the tool click the letter D on the keyboard and click the green tick ✅. Then the tool will be done and you will be in cursor mode.

    04:32 If you want to move sketch segments like that intact without being skewed using just your mouse, hold the shift key while doing it. Just have it all selected when doing so.

    Alternative method. 8:40 just loft from two surface.

  • @trexinvert
    @trexinvert 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Very handy technique: When the body contour(extrusion) is "forced" to match a manipulated surface. Here is my summary for future look up: 1. Basically, [BOUNDARY CONDITION] with (edge condition = none) creates the "chamfer surface". 2. Fillet corners are conveniently 4x sided and easily processed by [BOUNDARY CONDITION]. If the fillets were added in the initial top surface sketch. 3. Direction 2 (edge condition) = "tangent" to the adjacent chamfer surfaces. Alternate technique: 1. [FILLED SURFACE] with "edge setting" = contact and "optimize surface" clicked on. 2. This does seem quicker, because you don't need to change the edge conditions; however, you mentioned [BOUNDARY CONDITION] gives you more control. BTW, Betsy 13:46, why don't you just click on the blue/red tags that pop up to change the edge conditions to tangent. Don't your wrist get tired scurrying your mouse all the way left (property manager) area. I do. Especially, if you are using a 30+ big or wide screen, nowadays. Great lesson. Keep on.

    Very informative video, thanks! You should be able to do all the boundary surfaces as one feature, depending on your geometry. Click Boundary surface, but before selecting the first edge, use the selection manager (right click > SelectionManager) to select the loop all the way around the edge of the surface. then do the same for the edge of the other surface. I prefer to disable the merge tangent faces option too.

      Do you mean adding draft for manufacturing? Yes, you can add draft when you do an extrude cut, that should take care of it. Often you need to make a plane close to the surface so it doesn't get distorted.
