3rd video from this week! Here is a follow-up video of my Luster fire with Mother of Pearl (MOP) glaze. It was fired at Cone O19, very low. Took about 5 hours. Results were amazing! ENJOY!

Well, we no sooner got the kiln empty and we filled it up again! I had additional bowls waiting to go in. Also, we are still fine-tuning the kiln controller to get a perfect cone 6 on the witness cones. Got closer!

มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
Hello everyone! It’s been a bit since I posted a kiln opening video. We’ve actually had a few glaze runs but I’ve been very busy getting ready for the big IT’s All Art show sponsored by the Art League of Leland. www.artleagueofleland.org/. I need about 16 pieces for this show. Lots of work! Since my last posting, my hubby has changed out all the coils and thermocouples in my kiln. We have a new...

That vase is stunning!
Oh, Joeleen...I have a divine collection of lids all with lovely hand-built flowers, leaves and tendrils that will forever be beautiful paperweights! Been there and continue to be there.... But like yourself, I've learned to smile and just go on to the next piece. Keep up the beautiful work. I'll check in for your next opening.
So sorry for disappointing pieces. Being a potter is not for sissies. I had surgery. While recovering I thought I would glaze alot. Well don’t do that on pain meds. Lost 14berry bowls. Due to operator error. Mugs and bowls had glazing problems apparently I couldn’t keep track of my layers. After a while I licked my wounds and decided I’m lucky enough to have the knowledge to fix them. Gas kiln 12 hours babysitting the kiln was maddening
After you get done with it at the gallery, you can break it up and either make jewelry out of it or make mosaics with it.
Love, love, love your butter dishes!
Your ceramics are lovley thanks for sharing. Perhaps you could make your broken bowl into a bird bath.
Please don’t give up on pottery! I love your work 🤩. As a fellow potter, I totally understand the frustration. You are truly an artist and we would lose out if you gave it up.
OH MY GOSH!!! The vase is sooo absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! My gosh I just can’t say enough about this!! I’m so sorry Dang it! You can absolutely use that piece for decor!! You do such AMAZING work please please don’t stop!! I know how hard it is to do so much work and have something not turn out. Especially when every piece you make is a very time consuming process. Remember you took a long time off and it will take a little time to get back into things and remember. I don’t know why on earth that clay would bloat like that though. You got a hot cone 6 since the cone bent all the way over but that shouldn’t make cone 6 clay bloat!! I hope you’re able to figure that out. I also hope you were able to get the blob off your new shelf!!
What a great save on the bread holder!! They are soo beautiful!! That blob on the shelf is soo odd. It looks like low fire clay to me. I’m not sure what it was before. I have heard of people recently getting the wrong clay and getting low fire instead of stoneware. I’m so sorry! But honestly thank you so much for showing the bad along with the good. We all go through this but so many people don’t show it!! My husband, just this morning, broke the biggest bowl I’ve ever made! It was at least in the greenware stage!! I think it’s a great idea to show what happens when things that don’t turn out! People are so used to seeing the beautiful things. Please keep on claying around!! Don’t let this get you down.
Don't give up! It's so hard and I've been through the failures, but that first piece is sooo stunning and individual. It would be such a shame to give up on that sort of talent.
Lovely work. Inspiring. Appreciate your work in sharing with us. Hope you continue to
I've been through so many failures but learned something new each time ..... What I find to be of help was my first teacher always said, "Stop getting upset and make it again. Stay focused on the pieces that work" '

That first piece is amazing! Please show it to us when it’s completed!
Brasil👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😍♥️
Thank you for showing your imperfect pieces. I believe we learn even more from challenges and it makes successes sweeter.
Nice to see you again. Sorry about that big bowl, it was beautiful.
Wow! Your sculpted piece is absolutely amazing!! Especially for your first piece! My gosh great work!! Omg hahaha. The WHOSE PINGING QUESTION!!! Drives me so crazy!! I hope the pinging pot survived but it sure didn’t sound good. To get more movement inn kiln I have to stagger all of my shelves.
Heeey!! It’s so good to see you’re back!!!
I just don’t understand the last part of the slump mold. Is the black part stapled on the box? How did you place the clay into the plastic? Slab rolled then ribbed in? The clay is just loading there? Thanks in advance
Lovely!
Absolutely beautiful as always.
What porcelain do you use? What clear glaze do you use on your porcelain? thank you, Jessica
Hi Jessica! I am using KyMudworks kota porcelain Cone 6. As a clear glaze I actually prefer satin but if I were going to go to a high gloss, I lean towards mixing clear from Amaco. The reason: Not as much cloudiness and less crazing. Overall, a better fit. Hope this helps!
I saw a question as to where we sell pottery. My work is in 2 locations: Franklin Square Gallery in Southport, NC and Eclipse Gallery in Wilmington, NC

Killer vase'!!!!!
Joeleen, you have such a natural creative talent. Your work is just fun to see. Besutiful work!
Your pieces are sure beautiful!
I bought pink underglaze and painted in on mugs. Then dipped the mugs in clear glaze. They turned out so pretty. It was a light pink.
What beautiful pieces! How fun! I love beach and sea life! Your turtle is the happiest and cutest I have ever seen. You are so talented. Dan and your friend are so nice to help you out.
Those first two things are striking. The two vase thing (I would call them calla lilly vases) is actually striking also.
Your work is so strikingly beautiful and so unique. How kind of your husband to help with what you need. Thank you so much for sharing how you make a slump mold. Your stamp patterns are beautiful! I would love to see your actual stamps.
😯👌🤏👍💯🍀🍀🍀🌹
Oh my goodness, that vase is stunning! I love your nautical theme so much.
More beautiful pieces. Your work is so different from others, and I just love it. Thank you for sharing.
I love every piece you have done. Just beautiful!
I love your soft colors in contrast to your beautiful signature outside
These are absolutely stunning!! Amazing!!
Thank you, that’s very nice of you to say.
