Hey brother thank you so much for this it taught me alot my guy keep doing shit like this i love it your work is great brotherman
FYI the ping pong ball scupper drain covers worked perfectly on my 20 mako
Awesome mate 😂
Appreciate it 👍
Watching these videos highlights to me, time and time again, that I would NOT have the patience to do this kind of work! But kudos to you for making it look easy!
hahaha thanks man! 🤙🏼
👍👍👍
Looks awesome man. Enjoy watching your progress. Wish I was doing the same.
thanks man!
Dylan be sanding! Looking good. Can’t wait to see it finished!
No Joke. So close yet so far from paint lol
@@dylanbefishing If i wasnt outside shoveling snow in Pa id come down and help you sand!
Nice work, as usual. Thanks for posting.
Appreciate the watch! 🙏🏼
Use a Gatorade bottle with a 1/16 hole in the cap for your acetone so you don't have to pour you can squirt it on rags and surface. that's what I do makes life easier.
i like that lol 👍🏼
How do you like the FGCI resin? I've been using WEST systems because it's easy to get locally, and I've been happy with it, but I'm willing to try new products.
The FGCI resin has been super reliable. Honestly, all of FGCI products are that places carries everything you need to rebuild a boat. 10/10 if you interested in placing a large order reach out and I can help.
Another wonderful episode. As a BOOMER (04/02/1949) I truly appreciate Your work ethic, Your dedication, and Your choice of music. There are about 3 channels I wait for as my middle-aged body wakes up in the morning and pour that 1st cup of coffee. The only improvement I can suggest is that, along with my coffee, we could have some boobies and buttcrack (not Yours) on the project. I know You can do it.
Present bro full support 🇵🇭
Nice work!!
Thanks, that's a great help! How's that patch of lawn going heh.
lets just say we use catch pans now 😂😅
Fairing gonna crack all over after crashing into some waves
If I can smack it with a plastic hammer and pound on it... I'm sure it'll be fine... awlfair is not your average faring compound and plus this boat is built like a tank. but thanks for the concerns. cheers🍻
Hey Dylan, found your channel the other day and I’m now a fan. Great work! One thing I gotta mention on your mako is about the polypropylene fuel tank you installed by Moeller. I have the same kind in my boat that I redid and I remember in the install instructions they specifically warn against foaming it in. I know the fuel tank will swell 3% when it interacts with gasoline, not sure if that’s the reason but they recommend strapping it down. Hope that doesn’t cause a serious problem in the future but thought you should be aware incase it does. Tight lines and be safe out there!
Thanks man, appreciate the advice yes i saw that as well... and i had to end up taking some foam out so it had, some flex room also i did'nt fill the top with foam ... so between that and it being vent it'll be fine... also I feel like 30gallon isn't enough to really expand that thick plastic as much as a 100 gallon tank would.
i just keep saying it ... I marvel today and a young person having a work ethic when their contemporaries are an amalgam of lazy gamers. Keep up the great work. I've watched from the beginning and can't wait for the conclusion. I'm learning more each time I watch. Very proud of You.
Really Appreciate that! A year later and the boat is almost ready for paint lol cheers🍻
How much did you spend on materials? I found a cheap boat to practice on would be my first time working with fiberglass
I'm currently around 7k in material and I'm at the final stage getting it ready for primer and paint... 100% coosa cored boat. Transom / stringer bulkheads, floor, center console, and even the cap all recored with coosa and fiberglassed with epoxy. 29gallon poly tank. everything new. it was pretty much a open checkbook build... could've done it a lot cheaper.
👍👍👍
New friend bro watching from 🇵🇭
Appreciate it! Welcome aboard. 🤙🏼
Nice work!!
Thanks!
Can you do a video on how to patch a rod holder hole but one thats thick enaugh to where you would have to use a piece of coosa or something, I need to get mine fix
i have a part on the 17 ft mako cap that has to get filled with coosa, ill make a video on that for you👍🏼
I think that boat will be around long after your dead! Built like a tank! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
thats the plan lol
I would’ve invest in a battery operated sheer
belt sander how been extremely helpful
What epoxy are you using?
FGCI... 1:1 ration & 4:1 ration if is something small and i want it to cure fast so i can sand the same day i use 4:1 when it a larger surface I'm using 1:1 so i have more work time with it.
@ thank you! I’m getting ready to restore a 1971 mark twain
Youre absolutely right, sanding is never-ending. So far its looking great, looking forward to completion.
There is no finish line for sanding on a boat restoration.
Facts lol more like when do i give up and accept it😂
Coming along nicely
thanks! look forwarded to primer and paint
That’s awesome work how cool can’t wait to see the finish product
you and me both!🍻
That’s a lot of fairing nice work man 👍
Yeah a lot of fairing, but getting it smooth for the paint! 🙏🏼
Looking good!! thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
1st
🍻✊🏼
Hey! Was your boat sitting on the trailer or did you build a frame?
I built it off the trailer... just made sure it was trued.
Es posible en idioma español❤
I like your work!! Thanks for sharing....
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
FYI I have a 1982 20 foot Mako, I bought the boat with a recent new transom (Coosa) raised to 24" and a new tank, I replace most of the floor and fixed the hatches with Coosa, I also moved the battery to under the console. I found a low hour 2004 Honda 150 and stern weight is an issue, the self bailing holes have water coming in all the time with just one person in the back. These boats were built for lighter 2 Strokes so if you can move some weight forward that would be a good idea. Boat rides a lot better than the 77 Mako 19 my family had decades ago.
Yes, thanks for that advice, definitely something that gets overlooked ... so it wont have any self bailing holes. Going to just run drains to the bilge with 2 bilge pumps to handle the water
I’m probably adding scupper balls.
GREAT JOB , ALWAYS FIX YOUR TRANSOM FROM THE INSIDE, NEVER REPAIR YOUR TRANSOM FROM THE OUTSIDE 👍👍
Facts, that outside repair may last a couple seasons but it'll come back to haunt you lol
I’m on this phase in my restore . I like how you interlock the stringers towards the bow instead of installing them side by side . Thank you as I continue to be educated. Keep up the great work .
Did you use foam or microfiber roller ?
funny you ask... I've been using foam but lately I switched to micro... seems to me that the foam holds too much resin in the roller and is wasted so I switch to micro and seems to be working better... I wanna make a video to test this
Fantastic video, thank you for sharing!
Good work man coming together
thanks🙏🏼
I really your company name. Very appropriate The Waves Boatworks I hope my translation is correct?
hahaha yes i understand thanks man appreciate it🙏🏼
Great videos! I have been waiting for and watching all of them in this series. I am rebuilding my own 1990 18ft sea pro cc full teardown and rebuild. These have been extremely helpful. Thanks again.
Make the rigging tubes sweep less aggressively will make pushing wires easier. Like posted earlier use heat gun easily bends
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely keep that in mind for the next run.
Looks great progress 😮
Appreciate it, lots of work going into it! 🙏🏼
nice work brosef
Appreciate it
Nice work can’t wait for the one piece deck 👍
Should be get it back in the next week or 2 👍🏼
Get that Mako done! 😂 love to come check out the boats some day.
Definitely! Hopefully ready for paint by the end of January 🙏🏼
@ Awesome! I have to admit when I first seen you cutting it up I was like here we go🤣. You are definitely doing it up right! Keep it up man!
Nice!!! Use a heat gun to bend the pipe
Didn’t think of that lol
Nice work!!
🙏🏼🤙🏼
Good job. The outer skins create most of the stiffness with the Coosa helping. The 1708 layer in between the two Coosa board layers could have probably been skipped. Also a toothed trowel to apply that thickened inner epoxy would have made a uniform glue thickness. But these do not affect the outcome much. The half round oscillating blade you used was a good choice on the cutaway job. So many old fiberglass boats could be restored by cutting out the rotted wood members buried in old polyester resin, and replaced with Coosa in glass and epoxy resin like you did. Gave it a thumbs up!
