Backpacking the Bob with Bob! Holland Lake loop Bob Marshall Wilderness full video
This video goes back a few years to a fun trip I did with my good friend Bob up in the Bob Marshall Wilderness of Montana. This was Bob's first trip to the Bob, which is one of the largest wilderness complexes in America, and offers up an endless supply of backpacking opportunities in one of the lower 48 state's wildest places. This particular trip was very laid back, although we hiked in before trail crew cleared the trail, and had to step over lots and lots of blowdown.
Over the last 6 years or so I've been doing a lot of Bob Marshall trips - mostly in late May and June - sometimes early July - but that's when it starts getting super hot. It's become one of my favorite spots for many reasons, and hides some of the best backcountry ridge walking in America - but you got to go off trail to find it! Over time (probably will take a few years) I will be posting numerous videos from Bob trips, both from the past and future.

มุมมอง 7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I drank some beers and did a quick recap of my backpacking trip this summer out to the Trident Plateau, which is essentially the wildest spot in the lower 48 states. I am in the process of making a full video for this trip and will have it posted online before the end of the year (2024). In the second part of the video, I gave the answers to the first set of guess the spot questio...

Its Officially Brewskie Thirty! // Beer Problems at the confluence of what two rivers?
มุมมอง 1.8Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Introducing the Guess the Spot game. Can anyone guess the location of where I was at in this video? It's at the confluence of two rivers. Each week I will post a short video from a new location and the first person to guess correctly (on my patreon page - its fee) will win a My Own Frontier hat. There will be a lot more fun stuff to come with this, including letting future winners send in their...

A February trip into the Superstition Mountains
On top of the Trident Plateau/ Yellowstone's most remote spot
มุมมอง 2K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Views from the top of the Trident Plateau, a big remote plateau that sits just outside Yellowstone National Park's southeast corner and hovers over the Thorofare valley. This location is reported to be the furthest location from a road in the lower 48 state of the USA. No trail go here.
Thanks for sharing your trip
Absolutely beautiful hike, Love the alpine country above the tree line, you can see forever. Absolutely amazing.
Great video we really enjoyed it and it was really great to see trail hiking we don’t get to see you very often-amazing captures in the back country of the superstitions Thanks for a great video experience
amazing footage, looks like a hell of a time!
brave to do that in february cause it gets cold and the water is cold
Looks amazing Joey, and what a gorgeous day too. Great to see you back on TH-cam. Cheers.
Bob has inspired me to dust off my backpack and finally get back to the Beartooths! No more excuses like being too old. Thank you
Image quality and landscape at 100%. Water is not a problem !
Glad to see you back Joey. Still surprised that your old channel is gone. I'm not sure what happened there, but I'm sure you will rebuild and get your old subs back. I make videos, too, and know how much work goes into it. Welcome back, and I look forward to more! Bob's backpack looks uncomfortable. Hope his shoulders were ok. Cheers, from Colorado Springs!
Beautiful country.
Awesome to see you back on TH-cam! Your videos inspire to go backpacking places I've never been!
Glad you’re back bud!
Nice video man. I live in the area and this is one of my favorite hikes to do. Be careful anyone who hikes in this area. Bumped into a grizzly sow and a cub just a few months ago.
Nice! You got to enjoy the sups before the fire destroyed a large part of it. Most of the Dutchman trail is scorched now!
That may have been the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. Hope i can get there some day. Thank you so much for coming back to youtube!!
Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Do you ever worry about scorpions or rattlesnakes?
You have painted smiles on the dials of two long time fans here in Australia, Joey. Thank you , this video is wonderful ❤
Doggy, so happy you are alive!
We love your energy and enthusiasm Joey.

Happy New Year
Hi Joey! Happy New Year! I am so happy to se you back om TH-cam:-) I miss your old videos, though. I hope you are doing fine. I am currently planning an Alaska-trip to Denali this summer; hiking just beneath the Alaska Range on the tundra for 12-14 days🙂 Regards, Nikolaj from Denmark.
Very cool
How about those geoengineered skies...did you check aqi?
👽
We have lived in Arizona since January 6, 1984. Superstition Mountains are my favorite place! Be sure to hike up to Weavers Needle!
wow! this trail is amazing!!! I've a question ... it is necessary to have a permit to do this trail? I'm italian and I searching for a good loop trail to do this summer. I'm searching for something high in the muontains, with water sources everyday and without access problems ( like JMT...) . If someone wants to give an advice I appreciate. I'm sorry if my english is not good....
joey just dont give a F, he wants to go backpacking. love it, glad to see you back. p.s it will be strange to see you with new gear, that UGQ was a shock.
Glad to see you back on TH-cam! love your videos 👍👍👍
Joey is the mannnnn!!! We missed you dude, let’s gooo!
I was out there a week before...near Darwin. Had an issue with lack of proper meds for adhd...struggled and impossibly put my pack down for lunch...walked maybe 50ft for a better view. Never after two days of searching saw it again...all my gear except map I was struggling with and a dead phone. 2 nights out at 12000 completely exposed. I have to find what's left of it in June. It was a perfect kit. Ahhhhhh!
Hell yeah man!!! I missed your channel, glad to see you’re doing good 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Excited to see you back on TH-cam. Love your videos.
Rain in the desert is magical
Well done !
Bad Ass!!!
Thank you. I also went in after rain. I was told there are 2 water sources that are pretty much guaranteed. I found one site that had water written on a stone. I was thinking the writing looked quite old.
great hikin great video. good to see you!!! thanks
do you ever come across any bear in that area?
Hi Joey, let me begin by complimenting you for an excellent video. The video was very clear and you did a great job of capturing all of the beautiful scenery and the ruggedness of the Superstition Mtns. What camera or cell phone did you use, the colors and clarity of the video was very good. I haven't watched any of your videos before , so apparently you are an excellent back packer. You proved capabilities by this TH-cam video. It was fun to your trip through the Sups, my hiking days are over. Your video brought old memories of hiking through the Superstition Mtns, first trip was in the late 60s when I returned from Vietnam. In the 60s especially the Sups very remote, little foot traffic and lots of old prospectors still looking for the Lost Dutchman Mine. It was suppose to be near Weavers Needle. My hiking buddies and I made numerous trips into the Sups during the 70s & 80s by foot and by horse back ( Don Donnelly Stables in Apache Junction) You did an excellent job of covering the area, logically planning your route, taking necessary supplies and paying attention to water. You went during the wet months; which was wise. We sometimes went during March & April, temperatures were still mild and water was plentiful. Thank you for sharing, you did an amazing job and obviously you are in great shape. It brought back many memories .....
You had the best backpacking channel out there. It was really sad when you took all your videos down and shut down your channel. Would you please just start reloading the old videos pretty much in the order they were in your old channel??? Please. Just one a week until they are all back. Thank you so much for turning your channel back on.
How are you able to hold the camera and walk without it shaking very much?
That ground must feel like an sob. I wonder what kind of padding he’s using.
So ... aren't you supposed to descend when you might be getting altitude sickness? Yet, you continued and went higher over a pass. I assume that you are far better adapted to this than most and know your body. Just asking.
Joey, as someone from Ontario where elevations rarely exceed 1000 feet, if I did this hike my brain would be leaking out of my ears and I would've coughed up at least one lung getting to Bishop's pass. Good to see you again!
Cool stuff! I seem to remember Bob falling off a cliff in Utah, that guy is always getting into trouble. What is the earliest you think I can get into the Bob on a normal year?
I really enjoyed your adventure, Joey! It was good to see some of the "off the main trail" scenery, as well as the familiar!
