I watched The TV movie for the first time recently and I thought it was pretty good. TBH I tried to watch it as a kid but when I popped in the DVD and I saw the master’s eyes I got so scared and took the DVD out of the player

I think it’s pretty decent, just need some improvement

Poor Sylv, this script did him no favours and the best thing you can say about his slapstick performance is that it looked so bad he didn't do it again. The 7th Doctor was SUCH a good incarnation... But you wouldn't know it from this.

A fun explanation for why the "4th Great and Bountiful Human Empire" is essentially completely absent during the Dalek invasion and doesn't seem to have any weapons despite it being so far in the future could be that they are pacifists living in a crime free utopia with no real use for weapons. Rose could have suggested to the Doctor "why don't you tell Earth where the Daleks are and have them blow them up with...super...nukes...or something?" and then he could say they're all pacifists now watching reality TV slop all day. Hell that would even explain why the guards are all using G36s on the space station, "oh we don't actually have weapons, these are some 'old vintage props' we used for filming a 'historical drama about the War of 2020' we don't really know how to use them!"

10:52 I agree, I think this should have been the last ever Dalek episode, the story works so perfectly that bringing them back only ever felt cheap, maybe they could have got away with one more from the end of series 2 but after that they started to become a joke. I was never a fan of the whole parallel dimensions aspect, it felt like a cop out and something that the TARDIS should have been able to cross and travel to, or that the Doctor wouldn't just give up and leave her there, and of course later on she does somehow come back from (a couple years of 2000s Earth scientists and they somehow worked out how to travel with those jump buttons when the Doctor couldn't work out how to do it? reminds me of how the Doctor complains that Jack's time agent watch thing is "he's got a hatchback and mine is a sports car" the TARDIS should have been easily able to do anything those buttons could...) they probably really wanted to kill Rose off but the BBC said they weren't allowed because it would push it to after the watershed or that it would make it too difficult to bring other characters back? Parting of the Ways and the Bad Wolf ending could have been done with a different alien species, perhaps the Cybermen (given it is still set over Earth but in the future) but I'd prefer the Zygons, and would have worked just as well.

Castrovalva is one of my favourite stories in all of DW. The vibes of the story are immaculate and unlike anything else. Castrovalva is an incredibly interesting place that feels exactly like something from memory. The music is also some of the best made for Doctor Who. It's probably my favourite regeneration story, The Eleventh Hour is right behind it though.

The William Russell jokes aged very fast… and not well. 😬

15's outfits are god awful. It's probably because they are almost great, but always ruined by a few garish elements that feel... ...put it this way.... no one but an upper-middle-class Londoner would wear.

I don't think Castrovalva is that bad. There are some good ideas and some good scenes like Davison becoming his previous incarnations.

Castrovalva is easily the most forgettable out of all the post regeneration stories. Peter Davison is good and they are some cool ideas but it’s very flawed and it (like of the most of the stories during the classic era) has The Master for no reason whatsoever

Finally I thought this series would turn up like Half Life 3
