I don't find there to be much of a difference personally. The tone tends to be ever so slightly "warmer" with a screw bell but it is close to indistinguishable in my opinion.

A lot of it is mouthpiece pairing. Pair a horn with a different mouthpiece and you’ll get a different sound from it. Pair a good horn to the right mouthpiece and you’ll get a great sound!

Haha kind of like a trombone. But not as resonant.

I think it feels similar to horns such as the Rico Kuhn I’ve played (can’t remember the model) and it has some Alex 103 characteristics. It also has some of the light agility of my Paxman descant. It really is its own horn though.

Corrosion Cracker is a penetrating oil by Ferree’s. I really like it for this job. Btw this horn is about done. Stay tuned for the next video coming soon!

Haha I get you. Yeah sometimes you just have to give in. Since I’m also running a business with these horns (and because this is a classic!) I figured it would be best to hand this over to a master and I’ll get another chance later when I have more experience and tooling.

There are two screws that hold the pipe on and the leadpipe simply slips off the horn. There is a male connector connecting the leadpipe to the main tuning slide. The female receiver is on the leadpipe. Just turn the screws off the horn, pop the leadpipe off, put the other one on, tighten the screws, and you’re good to go.

@@saxgirlhornboy6458 None that I'm aware of. I'm more familiar with the American made instruments. Currently slowly learning more about other instruments.

Cool stuff. You might’ve seen my comment below, I use a Houser SF cup. Seems to work well across-the-board with all the instruments I play. Love the warm tone.

I am getting a similar warm tone using my Schilke 31 but it's a bit of a bugger in the high register.

@peterwhitehead2858 I played a Schilke for a long time. When I switched to the Houser (after trying lots of pieces out) I found that it was much easier to play horn in general!
