    Thanks for such a down to earth and well explained video of the 11.5 kayak and your great set up, particularly your sensible and practical innovations regarding safety. I was looking at one of these kayaks but was put off because Kayaks2fish dont have a proper showroom where you can inspect the build quality etc. before you buy. This is the first time that I have seen a straightforward and honest appraisal and close up video of their kayaks. They seem to be well designed with lots of features together on one build that is very hard to get on most other brands but although Ive yet to see one in the flesh Im not sure of the build quality compared to some others in the same price range. Thank you again for providing a comprehensive insight into kayak use and skilled fishing. Ive learned plenty and the day is still young.

You can buy a transducer cover to mount under the transducer plate rather than in inside and that would work perfect and protect the transducer from damage. Just asking as I am in the process of upgrading to the Garmin Striker 7SV and I would really like to utilise my transducer well. I have a brand new kayak that has its drive system much further away than the 11.5 and sits flush with the bottom of the yak i am hoping that I can still use it with the side scan view so I thought I'd reach out and ask the question as you might be able to help me 🙏

      @daniel-hz8rd 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@albyskayakstuffaustralia3215 yeah the reservoirs do suit the city people quite nicely hence the reason the govt looks after them and very much ignores the river. my understanding is the entire murray river has been stocked with around 100k murray cod ever. some lake in the middle of nowhere (Leigh creek) got 10k chucked in it. another spot they don't belong. they should be worried about getting millions back in the river where they have been mostly wiped out over the last 100+ years and get numbers back up to 1950s levels if not higher then worry about the reservoirs. honestly anything less than a million a year back in is incompetent. vic has done 10 times in 1 yesr than what we have ever done. as for the river fishing quite well, there's a reason why so many riverland fishers held up to lock 8 area and its because it shits over any part of the sa river for fishing honestly its embarrassing compared to vic and nsw. really it's completely indefensible the way our govt and incompetentfish (also known as recfish) treat the murray river here.

    • @albyskayakstuffaustralia3215
      @albyskayakstuffaustralia3215 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree completely. As to several matters we are a nanny State. I am very much for the ethos of let the Rivers Run, restrict and reduce any further water extraction, increase re stocking of native fish, ACT on the carp issue. As example Carp are now in the pristine high country streams! Stop the proliferation of cotton, corn, rice , nut crops and channeling across areas such as the Hay Plains and stop the damming of flat river catchment areas to feed such crops. The CSIRO has developed a gene / virus which over several years has proven to have no impact on native fish 'apparently' and yet there are barriers to its release to reduce the carp epidemic. I love the river and must say it us now clearer than the last few years which may be attributed to the recent floods. Either way I love the river and want to see more done to to support it and the native fish.

    my bay sports yak has a similar transducer mount area and did what you did , not seeing your vid before hand, but my garmin 7in UHD gave a very bad reading back on the sounder may be i should have persisted with the same instal ,have mine mounted out on the side of the kayak,using railblazer mounts works great but can get in the way :)

    Thanks for your effort in producing the videos and reviews of your kayak. Must have a good ticker with all that pedaling you’re doing. I’m considering purchasing the same and was wondering if there is anything that bothers you about for example lack of reverse pedal ability?

      To be honest I find the kayak great and a very solid unit. Re the down side of not gaving a reverse drive like the Hobie, if needed I have simply removed the drive, turned it around , dropped it back in and pedal. It would be good to have the same system as Hobie 180 drive but at a extra $1400 for their drive I didnt have the budget when looking around. The only other thing I have pucked up on is that the Hobie cruises very slightly better at speed. I noticed this when with mates who gad Hobie Outbacks. On a stroke for stroke over about 4 kms, they got away from me by about 200 metres over the few kms so to me that is nothing. If I was to do it again, I may gave saved an extra 1500 dollars and looked for a second hand Hobie PA12 but given the waters and distances,I have now done in mine I am still very happy with it. There us a new version coming soon I hear with a couple of slight midifications but not sure when. Enjoy the 11.5 as again it us a great yak.

    Hi have you tried them at happy valley reservoir for cod seems the brighter colours yellow green etc favoured. Also how did your motor mount perform ? 34lb big motor I have a 18lb on my Revo. It's not fast but still does ok.

      Neil, I havent got down to HV since starting the lures but I have no doubt the cod will like them. I have been doing a bit of Salt Water fishing lately but will getback to ressies soon. Re the motor, awesome. Pushed along very well but have to dlow it down on the turns as the power wants to push it straight at speed and the rudder works better at slower speeds.

      I must admit I thought you might have a problem with motor so close to the rudder. My little motor is side mounted so it hasn't affected steering. I made the mount tilt by using two aluminium tubes one inside to other top tube has slot the internal tube has screw which goes in the slot allowing internal tube to move tilting the motor 45 deg with mounting plate attached. Hard to describe cheers .

      You might be able to solve steering problem by raising height of motor making it a shallower draft and fitting a Cavitation plate onto motor this would make your rudder deeper in relation to motor.

      Neil, I had thought if a cav plate. I think it would work also.
