I can see why this scene was deleted.

We now know that abuse of young women has been rampant in Hollywood for decades. In light of that, you have to wonder if this scene was cut because of studio pressure -- specifically, from Paramount -- to keep the truth under the rug.

Cool scene but unnecessary, and leaving it out added to the surprise and tension of Paulie getting taken out. Plus the scene where Paulie fakes a cold and Sonny reading right through it was context enough.

The standard version of the movie this problems in the relationship with Michael and Vito don't show up. Is almost a perfect relationship and Michael is the "golden and perfect son"

I aggre with this comment from @lwmson: "This scene, along with another where Hagan confirms to the Godfather that Woltz is a pedophile, was edited out because Coppola deemed it unwise to portray Woltz as a child molester in the movie. The point of the famous horse head scene was to show how ruthless and callous a mafioso could be when denied a request. But when we discover that Woltz was sexually taking advantage of a 12 year-old girl, it makes Vito's actions look too justified and him appear to some extent as the good guy and Woltz the antagonist. Had this scene been included, the feeling would have been upon viewing it, 'Well, that dirty old bastard did have it coming for screwing a child'".

I didn't figure out until the other movies that the mom even spoke English. I thought she would just be a straight-up, tight-lipped Sicilian wife. Even in this scene, appears to know too much about the Godfather's business,

This scene feels odd, because even though Bonasera's opening in the movie is timeless, and is a great way to set up that first scene, he isn't really a major character and this scene doesn't really advance the story with respect to the main characters. Bonasera's presence is better used to enhance what's going on with main characters within the same scene. That is where the strength of the character was, both in that initial scene, and when Vito comes out of the elevator and Bonsera grimly asks,"What is it you want me to do" in his trembling, broken accent.

Justifiably deleted. Not needed. We fill in the blanks about Carlo and the actress and Sonny’s temper just fine.

I wonder if this was Vito's plan all along, pulling the strings knowing that Michael would avenge the family. His smile saying we have alot to talk about was almost immediate. No talking Michael out of it or the risk to the family.
