I rode from Toronto to Trenton where there was approx. 2,000 bikes. Then we all rode to Port Hope. 1st ride of the year for me for a total of 207 miles (333KM).

    I am 83 years old, and bought my first Harley, a 1942 Flat Head "45" when I was 14 in 1955. My current ride is a 99 Softail Custom. Had a lot of fun on that old 45. I should have kept it. Riding a bike with a foot clutch hand shift is something you never forget. But when you are 14 you can do any thing. LOL.

    seeing your concern for the original parts brings back my memories of our wla's in the 80's - 90's we had n old bike shop in sydney called redfern harley from the 40's that still had original war surplus parts ,we were so lucky to have that stuff available , i still kept some of the original harley pks as display items coz even then we knew it was disappearing , the old boys eventually kicked on and some rich bastard bought the entire stock jacked all the prices and i've heard still has most of it stored thinks he will make a fortune but he dont realise there just aint that many 55 an up guys around to buy the stuff , young guys just arent interested, cheers big ears from down under

    i love your camera angles , it amazes me when you see bikes for sale and the guy taking the pics doesnt seem to have a clue , they are such works of art you can look and study a well angled pic for hours theres so much to look at ,my girlfriend now wife used to lament my mate and i sitting in the shed for extended periods of time staring at a new mc magazine or our own bikes , she'd say what the hell are you looking at , we could never really answer , cheers brother

    good on ya brother , i just found pt 7 and now 6 popped up , i'll go watch em all , in ozzi in the 80's and 90's we rode flatheads mostly walla's, we hot rodded em with sportster cams and fiddled with gearing ,su carbies etc , one of the guys had an 80 cu UL which was rare as hens teeth , i always lusted for a 74cu UL or a knucklehead but they were like rockin horse shiite too , my wla broke the gearbox 20 years ago so i parked it up , its in the shed but covered in rust , i'm gunna clear the shed and get into it , i'm 57 so i just have to do it ,,like now ,thanks for sharing and cheers big ears from down under#CASHisKINGnoCBDC

    Just found your video. lovely bike and you seem to get as much enjoyment out of riding it as I get with my 1941 WL, I`m 78 now and the bike is still ridden regularly but I must say in England i have to contend with much more traffic and bendy roads! The crappy front brake does`nt help!

    • @backinthesaddle350
      @backinthesaddle350 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL my friend says the same thing. it took me some time to adjust. for me the hardest part is when I stop I try to put my right foot down so I can smoothly/quickly go again by keeping my left foot on the clutch rocker control. but the problem is the right foot applies the rear brake which is 98% of what stops the bike (front brake is very poor design). So I find most times when I stop I put my left foot down then switch to the right when I need to move. In stop & go traffic it's a pain.

    What an absolutely gorgeous machine. I've had the privilege of riding a hand shift Harley (actually a 1975 FLH Shovelhead) and it connects you to generations passed. My great-grandfather used to ride a UL to work every day to his job as a machinist at GE Schenectady. To be a machinist is the best job in the world.
