I'm curious, is there a way to make it so that when you turn on the Google Chromecast, it opens TH-cam rather than the main page (where it displays all the other apps)? I know the remote has a dedicated button for TH-cam, but I'm just wanting to do this in case my elderly parents forget about the dedicated button on the remote. They're not good with tech, sorry.

To be clear, as rightly pointed out in the comments, service providers will most likely (and should be) storing a copy of your password in a hashed/encrypted form and not in plain text - this means if it gets leaked it shouldn't be just a text file that can be easily read. It is unlikely to be cracked but nothing is 100% safe and technology is always changing so always better to have an extra factor! Will make sure I'm clearer on these things in the future 🙏

In most cases you don't have the choice of what multifactor authentication method you use. If the site uses one at all, they dictate what to use.

You seem to have forgotten the most important part. You need to be able to make sure you can lock down your account and kick everyone else out faster than they can kick you out, otherwise everything you mentioned means nothing.

Please do more research, the horcrux method you mentioned does not make your account more secure than using a password manager alone. It is actually worse. What you should do instead is make all of your accounts only recoverable through one email address, and then change that password daily, and have it be written down manually, and use 2fa on everything.

You need to do more research before making a video, there were several major mistakes. And instead of admiting the mistake you are lying in the comments and saying you weren't suggesting passwords are stored in plain text.

No serious company saves passwords in plainfext. Type 2 leak is completely wrong

Just a small correction: service providers (like Netflix) do not store passwords as plain text (most of the time), they instead store a hash of your password. In short, an algorithm scrambles your password to generate the hash. This algorithm always gives the same result for the same password. So when login in, they simply hash the password you entered and compare that hash with the one they stored when creating your account. When hackers get their hands on hashes, they can't unscramble your password, but they can try hashing random password and seeing if they result in the same hash as yours. That said, this process is a whole lot longer for them and is sometimes too long to be worth it.

A really great vid. I’m probably of the same vintage as your parents. I have a 2013 Sony tv that no longer supports Netflix . So I have been casting Netflix from my iPad to my gen1 early version of chromecast so I feel a level of familiarity with the standard google set up. So I think I’ll buy this new gizmo. Thks also for mentioning the Bluetooth speaker compatibility. This will allow me to watch and listen to stuff without irritating the wife when she is reading. Cheers again.
