The Faulty Foundation of Liberalism
In today's video, Murray looks at a resurfaced clip of Yuval Harari, a popular "academic," and shows how his seemingly absurd claims are actually the foundational basis of Liberalism.
If you want a complete understanding of what Yuval thinks:
His Ted Talk: th-cam.com/video/YZa4sdIwV04/w-d-xo.html&t
His not-so-Liberal talk: th-cam.com/video/7Y8X2iPTbzY/w-d-xo.html
Also, check out his book "Sapiens," which is basically a repurposed Whig History book.
Central reference points for me on this topic are "Liberty the God that Failed by Chris Ferrara which you should buy through CFN's referral link: angelicopress.com/catholicfamilynews
Also to be noted are ++Lefevbre's "They have Uncrowned Him" and "Religious Liberty Questioned" (Even if you disagree with his consecrations of bishops without papal mandate or his view of Vatican 2, his works on Liberalism are fantastic)
Alternatively, you could read Burke's reflection on the French Revolution, Metternich's memoirs, and De Maistre. (Expect more content on them in the future!)
And of course, the primary texts themselves. To understand "Classical" Liberalism, read Locke's Two Treatises, anything Thomas Paine wrote, and Hobbes' "Leviathan". For Liberalism+Utilitarianism your best bet in Mill's "On Liberty"

Redeemed Zoomer's Misconceptions about Orthodoxy and Catholicism

Recently, @redeemedzoomer6053 has been saying quite a lot about Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism. He gets a lot right, but certain dated Protestant polemics are still bleeding through. A Catholic Critique of the “Protestant Reconquista”
มุมมอง 7K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
There has been a recent movement within the various Protestant denominations to “reconquer” their denominations from the clasp of Liberalism. This largely youth movement started by @redeemedzoomer6053 is in many respects a noble one and mirrors the traditional Catholic defense against Liberalism. But like the movements to “restore Protestantism” before it, this movement is doomed to fail. W...

Your take is incredibly Rad-Trad. I found no reason to trust your opinions because you have no credentials, no expertise. Your final recommendation, the Douay-Rheims, is laughable. It's great for you TLM types but not for the other 98% of us.

Thanks for the comment, and indeed my opinions are just that, my opinions. But I definitely didn't just recommend the Douay-Rheims to everyone, especially since like I said, the Douay-Rheims has major problems. At 26:00 I gave a pretty clear recommendation for the Great Adventure Bible for most people. It's the one I use most of the time I guess you could call me a "Rad-Trad" but to be fair, you don't see many trads recommending the Word on Fire or Ascension Press materials haha. God bless you and may He grant you many joyful years!

I think that both Catholics and Orthodox Christians.. are just that. Christians. I believe in God allmighty and i believe in Jesus Christ of Nazareth... and his teachings. That is about it.. Church has no authority by itself. It's a political institution used to control the masses.. They have proved it many times.

RSV-2CE > RSV. I have compared some verses below to demonstrate how the RSV-2CE is a huge improvement over the original RSV. And he came to her and said, "Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!" (Luke 1:28, RSV) And he came to her and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" (Luke 1:28, RSV) Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Imman′u-el. (Isaiah 7:14 RSV) Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanu-el. (Isaiah 7:14 RSV-2CE) For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 RSV) For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 RSV-2CE) The RSV-2CE also includes these passages (amongst others) which many modern Bibles omit: John 7:53-8:11 (the woman caught in adultery), Mark 16:9-20 (the longer ending of St. Mark's Gospel), and also the longer version of 1 John 5:7-8 (the shorter version removes the strongest evidence for the Trinity from the Bible). The Church has always considered all of these to be the inspired Word of God, and the footnotes make that very clear.

Thanks for your review. It doesn't appear you have used the Jerusalem Bible. The text was translated from the original languages, while the notes were translated from the French Jerusalem Bible (see note immediately after the Imprimatur). This is my favorite "study" bible, maybe because it was the only Catholic study bible in the 1970's, and for many years afterwards. I do appreciate the use of the various names for God in the old testament, unlike the RSV 2CE which inserts "Lord" for the various names. I do appreciate the readability of the RSV 2CE. I am not fluent in the original languages, so I cannot comment on how well they were translated. I was disappointed in the notes in the Ignatius Study Bible, but it has utility for Catholics that haven't spent much time reading/studying the bible. I'm looking for a good study bible that provides the Fathers' commentaries on the bible.

To the fools who know nothing of history or the reasons behind the crusades, here you go: Muslims had been expanding their respective empires for centuries, killing and enslaving christians in Anatolia and the Levant. Half of Spain at the time of the 1st Crusade was ruled by the Islamic Almoravids, whose predecessors were introduced to Spain by the brutal conquest of the Christian Visigothic Kingdom by the Umayyad Caliphate. Islam is not a religion of peace, and the Islamic Seljuk Turks were not peaceful. They conquered Anatolia from the Byzantines and enslaved tens of thousands, not to mention putting thousands of innocents to the sword. The Crusades were a direct response from Christendom to Islamic expansion, which had conquered one of the most important cities in Christian history - Nicaea. Where the first ecumenical council was held by Emperor Constantine the Great. The turks were going to invade Europe, it was only a matter of time. They named their new Realm in Anatolia “The Sultanate of Rûm” (Rome) which was a promise that they would try and conquer the greatest city in Christendom - Constantinople. Thankfully, the 1st Crusade gave the Byzantines much needed breathing room and halted Muslim expansion for about a century.

Book of Mormon/Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim(Ezekiel 37:15-20) The Book of Mormon is another witness of Jesus Christ and confirms the truths found in the Holy Bible. Far from undermining the Bible, the Book of Mormon supports its testimony of Jesus Christ. One passage says that the Book of Mormon “shall establish the truth” of the Bible “and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved.” In its more than 6,000 verses, the Book of Mormon refers to Jesus Christ almost 4,000 times and by 100 different names: “Jehovah,” “Immanuel,” “Holy Messiah,” “Lamb of God,” “Redeemer of Israel,” and so on. Both volumes of scripture are a compilation of teachings as recorded by ancient prophets. While the Bible details events in the Eastern Hemisphere, the Book of Mormon documents the lives of the inhabitants of the ancient Americas. The book was written by many ancient prophets by the spirit of prophecy and revelation. “Their words, written on gold plates, were quoted and abridged by a prophet-historian named Mormon. … “The crowning event recorded in the Book of Mormon is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the Nephites soon after His resurrection. It puts forth the doctrines of the gospel, outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come. … “In due course the plates were delivered to Joseph Smith, who translated them by the gift and power of God. The record is now published in many languages as a new and additional witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and that all who will come unto Him and obey the laws and ordinances of His gospel may be saved. … “We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. “Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah.”

Thomas More tortured and killed people for trying to spread English Bibles into England. I wonder what language you American Orthodox are using to study the Bible. He was also an elite figure, he despised normal people in England reading the Bible for themselves, if he was still alive he would be burning English language Bibles. Where do you think literacy rates were higher in the 18th and 19th centuries? Greece, Russia, Italy, Spain etc or England, Scotland, Denmark, Prussia and the Netherlands? Lay people sitting around with their Bibles open discussing the texts is a Protestant innovation. Well done for catching up.

Woah woah woah, where did this come from at 11:23? We don't think of Catholic or Orthodox Christians as our opponents. The Reconquista is an internal, Protestant matter. We're not going after the Orthodox or the Catholics in any way. It also happens that RZ made a video hoping to educate people on the history of Christianity, and he got some of it wrong. It's not because he was trying to make a case against YOUR church.
