Hi. I'm Simon. I upload music score videos, mostly Italian operas.
Mozart- Symphony No. 29 in A Major, K. 201 (Score)
Composed 6 April, 1774
0:00- I. Allegro Moderato
7:31- II. Andante
14:59- III. Menuetto
18:07- IV. Allegro con Spirito
Prague Chamber Orchestra, Charles Mackerras
The economy of scoring in Mozart's early orchestral works was simply his response to the Salzburg musical traditions that displayed themselves. In 1769, the Salzburg court orchestra calendar listed zero flautists, two oboists, zero clarinetists (at that time seen as a somewhat obscure military instrument), and two bassoonists, who would mostly be relegated to doubling the bass. Thus would the great Mannheim sound be impossible for Mozart, Michael Haydn, and the few other orchestral composers of Salzburg.
This symphony was probably composed for performance at Archbishop Colloredo's court by his court orchestra, where Mozart was employed as concertmaster (at times the archbishop would play violin with them; it was common for him and other Salzburg courtiers to join the music-making fun!). The symphony retains the regality and austerity of the previous symphonies, but the mood is lightened by its delightful usage of counterpoint and musical humor.

Giovanni Simone Mayr- Medea in Corinto- Grand Finale
มุมมอง 321ปีที่แล้ว
The epic, spectacular finale of Mayr's opera, where Medea angrily flees the scene on her dragon-drawn carriage after killing her children and Jason's lover. All of Corinth is terrified. Mayr is an important figure in the world of Bel Canto opera. Much of the musicality of Donizetti is thanks to Mayr, who taught him everything he knew. Rossini found inspiration in many parts of Mayr's work. Mayr...
The Underrated Verdi- Stiffelio- Lina's Recitative and Cavatina from Act II- 1850 (Sylvia Sass)
มุมมอง 390ปีที่แล้ว
Ah, dagli scanni eterei Stiffelio is one of Verdi's most unappreciated operas. No full score exists in a PDF format, so I thought I would just post this segment here. It is one of the most touching and moving moments in all Verdi.
Puccini: Madama Butterfly (Full Score)

The original full score was completed on December 27th, 1903. The version we know today was made in 1907 for the Opera Comique performance. Act 1- 00:00 Act 2, Part One- 54:46 Act 2, Part Two- 1:49:39 The reception history of Madama Butterfly is fascinating. The La Scala performance was greeted with hisses, booes, and shouts. Why? We don’t really know, but the presence of a large claque is prob...

Composed: 1861. Revised in 1869. Act I- 0:00 Act II- 0:23:44 Act III- 1:14:24 Act IV- 2:09:02 Nowhere else in Verdi's oeuvre do you find such an intriguing dramatic structure. In La Forza del Destino, the suffering of all three of our central characters is caused by one traumatic event. A terrible case of manslaughter (against a truly depraved father) begins the downward spiral of tragicomic ev...

Schubert- Violin "Concerto" in D Major, D. 345 (1816)
มุมมอง 4.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This piece is known by musicologists as either a "konzertstück" or a "violin concerto," both of which are misnomers. A more appropriate title would be "Adagio and Rondo for Violin and Orchestra." However, since I do not seek to depart from the norm, as doing so would confuse and irritate people searching for the piece, I have chosen to use "violin concerto." The circumstances as to the origin o...
Verdi- Ballet Music from Don Carlos: "La Peregrina" (1867)
มุมมอง 1.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Verdi's ballet for Don Carlos is rarely performed today. Directors find it hard to fit into this massive opera; I was very disappointed to learn that the recent production of the French Don Carlos at the Met left out the ballet. As for the music itself, the orchestration is a bit awkward and bumbling in a few places with ill-placed doublings, and a bit too much going on (I reference 5:22). But ...
Verdi- La Traviata (Full Score)

0:00- Act I 32:42- Act II 1:37:15- Act III La Traviata is quite literally the most famous opera ever written. You’ve heard the Brindisi at one point or another in your life. If you live in the United States, your local opera house, now matter how (un)famous it is, probably does a production every year. It continues to rivet audiences and enchant the ear. The story is remarkable in that it is NO...
Schubert- Viola, D. 786 (1823)
มุมมอง 1.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Composed March, 1823. This is one of Schubert's great ballades, along with Einsamkeit, D. 620. Unlike Einsamkeit, Viola is not a completely staid, philosophical narrative, but more of an Andersenian fairytale, one filled with sadness (not necessarily tragedy) yet moving symbolism. Essentially, the story centers around a flower that blooms too early, and the flower dies from a winter storm, faci...

Two pieces here in E-major, a key Mozart rarely used (as far as I know): 'Placido è il mar' and 'Zeffiretti, lusinghieri' - equally beautiful and both concerning weather elements (a calm sea, 'soave zeffiri', gentle breezes). He also used E-major in other instances where beautiful weather, sweet breezes and/or calm waves play a role: 'O selige Wonne!', the closing terzetto from act 1 of Zaide and of course 'Soave sia il vento' from Cosi fan tutte.
May I express my grateful appreciation of the educational notes in the description box? I learned quite a few things from those notes which I had never known before. Oh, and the music is simply sublime!

The organ should be a portable small one cause it´s chamber music. But this organist chose a big church organ which overpowers the other instruments. So this is not a good transparent recording.

2:42-2:43 moonlight sonata. What an expression. Already approaches the level of Beethoven.
Mozart uses a very futuristic orchestral technique. Only if he didn't write down for public.

Thank you very very much for this video, I watched it over and over again during the last year, it's a great pleasure for me to have the orchestral score of my favourite opera ever! And the execution is the best available, i love Colin Davis and Araiza
Wonderful! Stiffelio is one of my favourite Verdi's "forgotten operas", with La Battaglia di Legnano.

Gorgeous…
Idomeneo is an absolutely gorgeous opera but also absolutely requires a great production and singers (especially for Idamante and Ilia), otherwise I agree that it is dull. Probably my favourite Mozart opera but I agree that it can be done very poorly. Still think at its best it is better than Tito, although I like Tito a lot as well.
22:02 Salome introducing herself to Jochanaan ... so regal. She sounds so proud when she calls herself the "Prinzessin von Judäa"!
What a master.
Do you plan on posting La Fanciulla del West ? It is a quite underrated opera by Puccini while it remains almost as good as the three famous he composed before its… the work is still an utter masterpiece of music !
Trying to focus on posting higher-quality scores as I work to get my BM. The score of La Fanciulla is indeed a masterpiece, but the forces are absolutely massive. If I try to synch and upload the score through my crappy MacBook, the staves will inevitably be blurry in the final product. They already were for my Butterfly video. I have my work cut out for me this semester so it’s probably going to be a while before I upload Un Ballo.
Easy flex for the GOAT.
