Making the Lifted TDI beetle road worthy after a 6" lift

Making the turbo diesel Volkswagen Beetle road worthy after a massive 6" lift, in this video we used some doorman adjustable balljoints, some Euro Logic cv axle spacers, and other various parts to greatly improve the ride quality and make this thing safe for the road.

Where is the beetle now? I'd buy it.
Thanks for posting this on TH-cam. How much oil came out of the cooler & lines when you disconnected them & did you put new seals on them when Bolton them back on? I’m about to do this myself & just want to be prepared.
I saw the bug on TikTok, I’m disappointed that you sold it man!😢 They are chasing clout and they didn’t even build it
True! I started on a new project so I let this one go, always moving onto big and better things!
I think I drove by it this morning, I’ve never been more confused 😂
In your opinion! Would it be possible to weld up some spacers/carriage for a 2+ lift for engine and front suspension? Maybe put less tension on cv joints?
Yes, I have seen people fabricate subframe spacers and steering shaft extensions for these things! Check out the “lifted watercooled VW”group on Facebook!
@@bens-tec I’ll check it out, much thanks.
Dude, love your style. Modify-break-fix, wash rinse repeat!
🤟🤟🤟
What is your clearance from the ground to the rocker panels?
Mint💪🔥💣🦾💯😆
Ridiculous is the word.. To use when ur about to do something... Why is it not ridiculous dropped.... U can even go over water puddle
I have jimni parts. Gonna try lift a Volkswagen with it.
Love what you did with the beetle I've been wanting to do this with a diesel beetle also but put one of the little truck bed convertions on with it keep doing what you doin
What’s the mpg now?
How thick are the axle spacers?
That looks so sick!
Alright, hear me out. You’ve got stacks on a beetle. It’s a basically semi truck with a beetle body. You need to put semi truck tires and wheels on it to finish the job. You could do true dually rear wheels or super singles. It could only end in greatness.
Wouldnt pass inspection in our state without fender flares!! Tires out too much but thats a nice looking ride! Looks like it is fun to drive ! Knew alot of guys my age back in the seventies took 60s VWs and made bajas !! Fun to bang around with in the meadows with the 4 speeds!! Thanks for the video!
Ignore the haters…..well done . I’ve had a lot of experience with original unmodified beetles in the snow, and can tell you that the main thing holding them back, was clearance. I ran studded narrow tires all around and surprised my buddies with where they would go. Yours looks great and should be lots of fun. I saw a video on a lifted Jetta, where the guy stayed with a stock shock in the rear and made extensions so it would fit, giving the rear a better ride.
Honestly it just needs more aero and a bigger stereo.
Does it have rear adjustments
1:15 so expected from a Utahn😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭🤣🤣
As a former 8 year old, this build is absolutely valid🫡
All that and it still won't get out of the driveway in a little snow . An old one won't have a bit of trouble with a little snow . I know live and learn
7:20 high quality build
Dem suspension welds though man, #whistles
what was the issue before u replaced the fuse box, my cars having many issues rn and i don’t know if it’s my fuses or if it’s the alternator, the alternator was replaced about a month ago and my car barely holds voltage
dude i have a vr6 swapped beetle and this thing fucks dude
How long did it take to get it lifted n running good?

Which tensioner was for the AC? I had my AC belt replaced last year and it’s already squealing for about 10 to 15 seconds when I cold start it. I’m dread working on this thing sometimes. 🤦🏻♂️
Feo
Should of pulled the AWD system out of a 4 motion or Audi to get all the benefits of a lifted vehicle. A TDI wouldn't of hurt either. Plan on doing this for my step daughter and possibly doing one for my wife and myself.
4 Motion would definitley be cool, it was looked into but a lot of welding, cutting, and fab is required. This thing is an ALH tdi. i say you should definetley build one for yourself.
@@bens-tec I missed the part in the video about it being TDI. But caught on watching 3-4 of your videos back to back. I definitely am considering this.

I gotta say, awesome concept. The mechanics need some fine tuning such as maybe tweeking the parts selection, but the concept is awesome. I've been looking at baja bugs and this is a great modern interpretation of those. I also like the fact that you keep the ac and other creature comforts. I'll have to research this more.
do you want to cut?
Get a skid plate on that thing asap! Notice that the lowest point on the drive train is the oil pan... it's cast alloy and about 1mm thick. My TDI took a hit from a chunk of highway ice that took out the oil pan- that didn't end well. Use an old stop sign or whatever, but please protect that thing.
Lol this is sick
thats cool ,good job
I don't know why this is not against the law , there is enough noise without people like you adding to it . I am glad you live no where near me .
Good job man looks stupid and I love it
You have made a stupid looking car look even more stupid I love it 😂
it goes with his face
What size tires & how much is it lifted? Bad ass! 🔥🔥🔥
my first video in the lifted beetle series holds the answer to your question!
All you need now is a gigantic stove pipe sticking out of the hood..Pumping smoke..And turn up the pump..Roll some coal
Junk
Bro this is crazy 😂
Do a voltage drop test across your charging cable. I bet you will have more than half volt drop. If so I recommend building a new charging cable. I've replaced more than I can count for mk4's. All models
I'd kinda like to do this with my '02 Cabrio
Vw adventures 🎉
I think I would've looked for a sidekick or a Suzuki Samurai and put the vw body on that. It would be safer. I don't feel that what you did to it is safe.
i put those same tires on my geo tracker and they are awesome tires for cheap
I have the GLX but I had an omni with the super swampers on it the 28.5 inch
Reminds me of the ole school Baja bugs.
I thought I clicked on this thinking I was gonna see a sas 4wd Beatle.. lame
I just got 2023 Jimni suspension for free. I'm gonna try to fit the springs on my VW Caddy. They look similar but heaps longer. 4 inch lift I reckon
