Ok.. as an Asian person who’s been eating algae all my life, it is A JOKE that this product is $130!?!?! People, just go eat some naturally-sourced algae for a tenth of the price and 10x its freshness. Algae is good for you, but this brand is not good for your wallet.

My uric acid level spiked up significantly after 14 days and 7 days water fasting: from about 300 to 723 range. It comes back to baseline of about 300 in between these prolonged fasts. I eat OMAD, and since January/24, I do structured fasting: 3-5 days water fast 1x/month. I don't have gout, and I feel great. About 70 y.o. with normal BMI, no chronic diseases, no meds. Any comments about these spikes after prolonged water fasts? Thx. Although my question relates to the state when I am not eating, It is super interesting to learn about dietary biochemistry: glucose-fructose-uric acid. Excellent inverview.! Thank you Dr. Richard Johnson and The Kick Sugar Coach.

Haven't been following it, too much going on, but I will get back to it. When I followed it, I felt so good and I didn't crave junk food. I lost weight too. Reversing diabetes means you’re no longer diabetic, but as soon as you go back to eating how you were before, you will become diabetic again. As long as you’re eating whole foods, and figuring out what level of carbs that works for your body, you can put your diabetes into remission in perpetuity.

Saturated fat is good fat. The studies showing it isn’t are dated; they were performed by intravenous saturated fat injection and in petri dish cell cultures. Consumed saturated fat is metabolized completely differently. See Dr. Bikman who performed rhe earlier studies that are still quoted to create misinformation.

Wonderful interview. I went sugar free 16 years ago for health reasons. Definitely has been vital to my well-being. So I follow lots of folks advocating whole foods low carb for years now. New book for me was Katherine Reid Fat, Stressed and Sick which I bought because of my interest in children with autism. Dr. Reid is a protein scientist. Her daughter recovered from autism after getting processed foods out of her life. The processing frees up glutamate causing an imbalance of neurotransmitters.

My godmother 35 years ago developed a relatively sudden onset of bipolar symptoms (she is now full alzheimers), went into outpatient tx intermittently, was on lithium at that time (don't know if any other meds), wouldn't like the side effects of it and would d/c on her own, with subsequent episodes requiring more inpt treatment. After about 4 of these treatment-rebound cycles, I saw her at home and she was remarkably stable, like her old self again. I asked her what was she doing differently she said she started following the "macrobiotic diet" and the biggest thing that helped her was stopping sugar. She said that at the last facility she was in they had a candy store that they opened twice a day and all the inmates, er, patients, would line up to buy candy. For real. She said "the schizophrenics are the worst, they pour the sugar packets on the tables right into their mouths." Sounds like a racket to me. Keep them dysregulated with sugar so they become dumps for pharmaceutical meds. The future of pharma treatment for mental disorders is very dark, tying into UN Sustainability agendas, compulsory medicating, biohybrid control and social impact markets. So glad you are discussing this today, can't broadcast this enough. Are you familiar with Dr. Peter Breggin's work? He would be an amazing guest if you can get him on the podcast. Blessings!

WOW!! This is amazing!! Looking into the wildfit approach, it's the best of all worlds! I was whole food vegan following Dr. Joel Fuhrman's approach mostly for many years, but never 100%-I still drank alcohol and ate "junk" foods sometimes. But I was mostly plant based. Now at 59 that doesn't work for me anymore, I have to eat animal protein. I also do well with beans and sweet potatoes as my starches but not so well with grains, only a little. I just completely forgot it's possible to blend a high nutrient, high raw plant diet with animal foods! Eureka! Green smoothies and salads always felt great to me, eating more alkaline is intuitively so smart, kills cravings, slays inflammation. Very excited to be reminded of this. Blessings!

To me dopamine addiction pathways are about feeling safe, the feeling that we have agency to secure our own safety, survival. A substitute for coregulation with, in the polyvagal model, ventrally resourced people. Also the comment about serotonin, this explains why normalizing gut microbiome and healing leaky gut is so effective for modulating neurotransmitters as they say 95% of serotonin production happens in the gut. I found participating in Alcoholics Anonymous (my drugs of choice are alcohol and sugar), and really working the steps, plus prayer, helped me completely get free from the compulsion to drink. Sugar and wheat flour I'm working on still. But in the last couple of years I've been learning ways to self regulate (embodiment, ontology, somatic integration, etc) and the amazing thing about this is that it fosters coregulation with others. All about safety in connection at the end of the day! This is a great conversation, thanks so much!!

I started my reducing weight by first reducing over processed foods followed by having no snacks and finally time restricted eating over two years. The weight loss was a pound over two or three weeks allowing the habits to form. It is important to eat enough at a meal to feel full preventing the hunger two hours later.
