The Pitfalls of Cheap Barn Find Motorcycles | Ep. 3 - Pullin the Motor
มุมมอง 1.8K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Removing the engine was definitely difficult but not as bad as expected. The job is far from over though. If you haven't seen them yet, go watch the first videos in the series first. More coming soon. If anyone is working on a similar project I would love to help out. I try to respond to comments but the best way to reach me is by my Instagram cohesiveproductions here is the kit ...

Epic
fire video, stoked for the next one
Are the smaller sort of bikes as easy to wheelie as they look? I'm far too chicken to drop my Interceptor 650 trying anything like that haha
No its not as easy as it looks. But its somewhat easier than big bikes and you’re less likely to destroy the bike or yourself. I wouldnt even consider trying to learn on a interceptor since they dont have any power for what they weigh
May I ask how much higher that bars are now over stock?
Great video man this is exactly was looking for 🤙
Finally somebody that gives a good explanation of what 0° feels like! I appreciate it bro
I've ordered the same vortex 0 degree for my 2017 R6. Did you have any issues with brake reservoir/windscreen clearance? I ordered some extra length tygon brake line and a driven universal reservoir mount bracket just in case
Slightly yeah. Had to bend the reservoir bracket a bit. But idk on an r6.
Some peeps just should not own mechanical equipment. I have learned this in my family where they are in the majority. Some of 'em can eat an expensive new MC or car in a month or two. Some of 'em even eat homes and appliances.
Thank you, there aren't many video like this.
Did you not have to get longer cables? Was the clearance all fine? Thanks!
Nope wasn’t necessary. Everything fit perfect
So, there are no clearance issues with these vortex zero degree clip ons installed? There are no issues with going to the full lock position in either direction? There are no issues with hitting them against the tank, the fairings, or the windscreen fitment? I just want to double-check as I am about to order these for my 2023 zx6r and looking for a more dirt bike feeling with the wider bars and higher clip ons for a more upright position.
old carbureted bikes give me migraines, I don't even bother with them anymore
Im almost at that point myself after this project 🙄
This is an epic undertaking. I hope you get her fixed up one day. Did you get to Santa Cruz and back?
Im working on that vid right now! Hopefully get it done soon but been super busy with work. Short answer yes but it was a bit rough. Battled some electrical problems and almost had to get a tow home.
All the " will it run" videos are mostly guys just looking for social validation. As you said , with enough work and money anything will run. Having said that a bike that been outside will need a lot more time and money put into it than one that has been stored inside. Anything made of rubber on or in the bike will need replacing. Old brake and clutch lines might look good and work for a while until air slowly gets into them .Wiring will be brittle. The whole carbs thing is another story. Its good to see a younger guy talking sense.
You might want to look into 3d printing for the side covers. Maybe find someone with a scanner who can scan the side cover you have aand make a mirror image in cad then print it in petg.
I'll look into that. My concern with 3d printing was mainly durability. But a layer of fiberglass on top might solve that issue as well. thanks!
A barnfind is often a bargain because they usually ended up in the barn for a reason... not all "barnfinds" are forgotten pristine bikes from an old man who parked the bike 40 years ago... but good luck with your project, I hope you get the bike done and make the road trip....
Should have told me that 5 months ago! In seriousness i might over dramatize it a bit but i enjoy the process and kind of knew it was going to be a sh*tshow when I started. Just not quite this long of one. Thanks for watching ✌️
Nice scooter dude
What scooter
What a madlad, good luck. It is a hobby alright.
Appreciate it
Big mistake admitting you're gonna chop up a shopping cart on a video, and posting it. Depending on where you live, you could have set yourself up for a felony charge. My advice, return it to where you stole it from, and find a legal alternative. Those things are pretty pricey, and stores DO prosecute over theft and destruction of them.
Its a broken one that I bought from a local store for $20 but thanks for the legal advice dad. Also I live in California. I could walk that cart out of a grocery store completely full of stolen food and i would be more likely to get a police escort back to my tent than a felony charge
I got your dad swinging, punk. I wasn't coming at you, but act like a punk all you want. You'll go really far with that.
excited to see the next video!
Great vid! Good job!
Man I had 94' 1100. I had the EXACT same "What the hell?!" moment when I realized the engine had to come out.
Such a sad moment. I still get sad whenever I see a bike with a water pump that just unbolts out the side
I'm in, let's see where this goes!
Really enjoyed this video ! Keep it up man !
Would definitely recommend a screen. A long journey and battling wind on your chest or helmet will make a 6 hour ride feel like 12.
Which brake fluid reservoir bracket did you go with?!
i was able to just bend my stock one a bit and it works fine.
Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.
Subscribed, great video, can't wait for the next one 👍
thanks for the watch! next one coming soon.
Can you link some of the parts plz. I’m currently working on the same motorcycle

4:51 Gixxer Bra, comin at ya from Mexico!!! Lol
Got Vans Odi grips?
Yes i think they look awesome. All my friends run them on their groms
I wound love to see the difference btw this and the Helibar for this bike.
👍😎👍. Did you put grease in your master cylinder when you were rebuilding it ..??
Yea it came with the kit. I think its a little bit of hydraulic piston assembly grease but ive been told a coating of clean brake fluid will do the trick as well.
Great editing
Actually a really good video, keep up the great work and enjoy 2 wheels. New subscriber here.
Thank you 🫡
Dope
looks like a challenge worth coming back to see... Good luck!..
If these are some of your first videos man that’s impressive. Didn’t even realize you had 300 subs till I got half way through and went to subscribe.
Thanks!! Glad u enjoyed cuz i def work hard on these
Do those cooling fins serve a "real" purpose or are they more for decoration? I mean, the motor is water cooled so, no need for any fins plus without the bolt-on fins, the motor ain't really nothing to look at. Great video! Good job!
Im sure they help a bit keeping the heads cooler. But yeah theres coolant flowing through regardless so I doubt they’re essential. I mostly thought it looked weird without them.
great video! love watching the content! keep up with the posting! i wanna see you make it to the grand canyon!
careful what you wish for you might be drafted to help me pull the motor
@@cohesiveproductions say less, next weekend im free 😁
Love it
You'all don't seem to realize that even if he beats all the charges and manges to keep his license the police don't like him and they know who he is and where he lives, it will be years before he can leave his house and not be followed by the police, if he runs they will be waiting for him at his house. Gixxer is over.
That was one of my main points here, he may get relatively minor legal repercussions but he has a lot more to worry about and will have to be far more careful. It definitely isnt the end but hes going to have to make some changes.
Hi, I have a 2019 zx6r, I want a more comfortable riding position so I want some new clip ons that will give me at least 1 inch height so I’m less leaned over. Do you think you could recommend some for me? Thanks
Either these 0 degree clip ons or look up “riser clip ons”. Woodcraft makes some
Thanks I have looked into the wood craft ones but the company doesn’t think they will fit. Sport bike track gear
Also, now you have upgraded does the handle bars touch the screen or plastics when on full lock?
@@lisahalls1386 mine doesn't, but with a 1 inch rise it probably will. If you want a comfortable riding position a 636 might not be the bike for you. But you could also try making the seat thinner or getting a rear lowering link which will make the front end higher relative to the seat, along with more level clip ons. all depends on your height and body type.
So that’s what it means when the tag on the bike says “managers special” 😂😂
😅😅i wonder
Big on the no new bikes thing for sure. Bought a 2015 ZX6R around a year ago today as my first bike ever, she gets me around and has got plenty of speed. Considering getting maybe an R1 here soon though
🔥🔥The previous gen r1s have one of my favorite exhaust notes ever.
What bikes are these?
All second and third generation honda groms
My first bike was the exact bike you were riding this video bought it new. I went from the grom 2019 to a mt03 2021 then now I’m on a 03 636 in 5 years. Almost at 6 years riding.
I have had my fare share of close calls stay safe out there. No crashes or wrecks yet but I’m sure it will happen god for bid. But with learning to stunt it’s bound to happen.
All you can do is be smart and minimize the risk. Ride safe but more importantly have fun✌️
this guy has so much used oil. lol hello fellow up and coming moto creator! just saw your video on the most interesting stories working at a moto dealership. very fun
