Nice, I’m planning on having my 76’ Chrysler valiant CL as my daily. if you don’t know what it is it’s kind of like an Aussie gran Torino, sorta
I got lucky with my 70 satellite, her motor and transmission had been rebuilt before i bought her and all the rust that b bodies typically have was taken care of. I had to reassemble everything and do the wiring but it was worth it! I tell everyone, if you're gonna get one get one that has a great body and needs the rest. That way you'll have no electrical issues and you know whats been done to it so there can be many gremlins. If you have leaf springs in the back i also recommend oiling them regularly so they dont get super rusty if they arent already. Helps extend the life of them a bit further. These cars need regular maintenance but its not a big deal, i do my maintenance on the weekends when im off work if the car even needs it. Shes been dead nuts reliable, i also recommend an edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor for daily driving use. WAY easier to deal with than anything else as far as that goes and way more reliable for daily use due to the simplicity of them. Thats for ANYONE to use as advice also. May not be more efficient than a modern car, but i wont lie, the 440 under my hood hasnt been that bad at all! Roughly 15 to 17 mpgs on longer trips and i het 10 to 12 around town driving to and from work every day. No better or worse than a 2nd gen dodge or something else of the like, we have a LOT of pickup trucks around here in Texas. Im currently saving up to do a 46rh 4 speed with overdrive conversion. I may get as much as 22 mpgs with that once im done. Not bad for a 400 plus horsepower big block!
Do you still have it? Update video?
Is a sticky after applying
I miss mine so much
I think the one on the left that feels off may be a cowtown brand boot and not Tony Lama. This is a nice collection you got here.
resistor
I put my 1967stang through more than you would ever. Do with your new car. I am the guy that beats the shit out of this car. You would never do this with a newer car. Maybe if you have money to just get away. My Stang always gets me home. OH bye the way I also own a new Benz nice car. But not the same.
Keep it as stock as possible for daily driver use.
Huge help thank you, very informative
How do you know if they are cheap snake or expensive snakeskin boots? Mine are real snakeskin however they have a Dan post label that looks sketchy to me having had others. I sell on eBay and I'm torn on what to put in listing.
@@Meekavintage Just be honest about what they are and the condition. Dan Post isn't my personal favorite brand, but they do make good boots. I don't think they would be fake, if that's what you're thinking. The only "cheap" exotic hide boots I would stay away from would be no-names. If they don't even come from a reputable brand, there's a good chance they aren't high quality. There's also the potential that the hides were acquired in an ill manner.
what is your feedback after 5 years?
@@AhmadAl-dahoud That's a good question. I actually removed the can and just went with a regular PCV setup. I'd still recommend the can, if only to see what kind of crap you get flowing through there. Thank you for your comment.
@@crowvelle thank for replying , but why you remove any disadvantages?
@@AhmadAl-dahoud No disadvantages at all, just decided to change it for a while and see what happens.
@@crowvelle i attend to install on mt stock z28 78 to keep the engine clean, but so little information on this topic for carbureted engine
@@AhmadAl-dahoud Yes, I understand. Unfortunately, these cans are reletively new compared to carbs and not many people have even considered running them on the old-school stuff. I'd say go for it and see what you think. It won't hurt anything to try out, if only to decide if you need it.
very nice, I like it, I'm going to try it on my car 👍
Only if your engine os completly stock this will work
Don't do this if you ever plan to paint your car again.
Number plates Like that crack me up - I once approached a guy in a old muscle car and first thing he said to me that his car wasn’t for sale. I laughed and pointed out that he left his lights on - I just wanted to be helpful and save him a flat battery.
Awesome bro!
Looks good just roll with it
Yeah change all your fluids , every rubber part you can find . Make friends with a fun beer drinking mechanic. Keep him well lubed 😂. Learn to love the experience. With every fix you enjoy your car more and more. Start off with a complete car that’s not a hack job 👍🏼
Rule #1 of driving a classic everyday. Have another form of transportation. Ie. Motorcycle, little pick up, wife’s or roommates car. They require some tinkering but it’s a 💯 worth it!! Before ya know it you’ll be taking 10hr road trips 👍🏼
👿🔱😈..informative..thank u
I’m having the same problem on my 71 Chevelle only with normal tail lights, it’s driving me made
do you still own this car? what as the issue with the LED tail lights?
I do, sorry, I kind of gave up & stuck with the original bulbs. Please read the other comments, a couple guys had some great info on getting these to work.
Cool thanks, my Dad just got a 72 been repainted and the vinyl top has been removed but still pretty much stock. Has the 4 wheel drum as well a non a/c car
@@crowvelle ours is green like yours
@tonyacosta2314 That's cool as hell, you should post a video if you get a chance.
sounds great ! my Dad and just got ours a 72 dark green like yours.
I have a 72. Looking into buying another. Is it for sale
It's not, but thank you for asking.
I really like the look of elephant boots but I'd probably not buy elephant boots knowing that the hides are probably a result of poaching.
If you're buying some shit from Mexico, you'd probably be right. Use your own judgment on what higher-end brands would use for their hides.
@crowvelle what's the difference? Elephant hide is Elephant hide. No matter how they get it, it is still wrong to obtain Elephant hide for boots. Just because someone paid a lot of money for paperwork that says elephant population is high doesn't make it so.

I have never heard of an oil catcher. I see there's a hose from the valve cover to a box? Is that the oil catcher? Blow-by oil catcher?
Those black ones are not elephant they’re cow shoulder.
Aka faux elephant
Great job, thx!
How many weeks or months that coating will shine? Can that be done on modern cars?
It'll last maybe two weeks, depending on variables. I wouldn't do this on a modern car, just on something that's lost a lot of paint. Even with my car, I decided to go back to regular washing/waxing. If you're trying to stop rust & have a temporary sheen, go for the oil.
That is most amazing camera effect on video.
Now four years later how have they held up. I like both pairs.
Fake ones have some tears in them now but still wearable. The elephants are holding up beautifully. Thanks for the comment!
I just settled for a pair of print ones. Wasn't even looking for them but i stumbled across them and liked the way they looked. The print is really nice and they're comfortable.
2:27 I was gonna use my bare hands with the mink oil cuz I seen it on a bunch of other tutorials and I wanted to get the right feel for it in my hands but I just couldn’t get myself to trust that my hands were clean enough 😂 it’s not OCD but I am pretty anal about that sorta thing and I was afraid of getting any grime on my hands onto the boots so I just used some nitirile gloves but then I was worried about the chemicals in the gloves getting into the leather so 🤷🏻♂️. Did you clean the boots before the mink oil tho? The one thing I worry about is using the wrong kind of cleaner for the boots cuz like a jerk I used kiwi saddle soap on a pair of frye Paul inside zips and ruined the patina then had to completely strip the dye and redye it and now I’m dying them again cuz I did it wrong the first time. I want to use the saphir (avel) leather cleaner (not the saddle soap) on a different pair of inside zips but I’m afraid it’ll ruin the patina again. It’s a great cleaner but I don’t know if it’s right for the boot. What did you use? Did it strip any of the patina? When you dye a boot do you condition with the mink oil after or before the dye? Thanks for the video it’s cool seeing Someone else do this too.
Helpful thanks.
Not furable enough, you need more weather resistant chemical clear spray paint
I guess it'll work. But that's fucked up
When you plugged the hose with a golf tee you forgot to cap the carb where you pulled that hose from.
I used lemon pledge on my tractor trailer for yrs and a short hair mop to polish it Saved on a lot of truck washes.
❤❤❤
Great video. I installed the same LED on a 67 Camaro. The signal brake light work, but for some reason, the parking (running) lights stopped working. Any ideas of what it could be?
Try 0000 Steel Wool 😊
Every time I see one of these videos I have to ask...why?
I have the middle ones. 8601
Ever figure this out? I added LED flashers that are grounded. Still happens to me. It did however fix my hyperflash blinkers since my headlights are LED. But, tail, brake, front markers not working with LED bulbs still.
Sorry man, I couldn't get it to work. Please check out some of the other comments, some guys had really good advice on getting this to work, I just quit messing with it because i got busy with other things.
Now drive down a dusty road
Wow your camera is shaking all over the place, it killed your show brah!!!!
I see this video is three years old, almost four, how well did the linseed oil hold up for you? Looks like you have a lot of gravel roads and driveways there. I tried it once on an old '47 Chevy and in a few weeks it looked worse than when I began, it was all crusted with dirt and dust just from the wind and it was super pain in the arse to get off.
I went back to waxing my car, but I'd still recommend this method for worse paint. Mine got a little dusty, but I used too much. If I do it again, I'll try adding some acetone with the oil to cut it, I'd wipe it down afterwards, & make sure to wait at least overnight for it to cure or just dry.
How is it holding up?
You'd have to reapply every couple weeks or so, like you would waxing a car; as of now, I'm back waxing it like normal, if there was more rust, I'd go back to this method, it seems to work pretty well.
I had a '71 El Camino in that same color, best color ever. Nobody ever believed it was a factory paint job. Antique Green Poly, Code 49.
