I tune so low, I wouldn't hear any difference. I prefer a natural wood look, so wood is my choice.

Floor toms record well and may sound good to an audience but not as much to the drummer. Surprising the floor tom is so small compared to drums from other manufacturers. (For example Starclassic has identical kit drums except for a 16x16 floor tom.) Sonor 12" toms, like many 12" toms, can be a pain to tune.

I have an export from the early 90s and the sound hasn't change when i hear the new one on the video, but it's true that changing the snare drum for a better one, just improve the sound of the Pearl export.

remo heads are better for the snare to improve not evans

so we only got a tiny taste of the tom sounds...less talk, more sound?

I would think that the reso head of the 12" should be tuned up. I am a bit surprised that this tom is causing trouble. It's the 14" tom tuning which drives me crazy.

thanks for explaining that about the 2 drummers. In the music video, he's not playing the hi hat, but there's clearly a hi hat in the recording. I was so confused.

Brilliantly explained and full of enthusiasm. I own one of these kits and use it on almost every gig. As Will says the bass drums by pearl are shockingly good. With a good snare drum and good cymbals, these shells are as good as anything with decent heads in my opinion. Fabulous review

Ah man, that end message got to me. I've been playing a TH signature Gretsch snare since it was introduced in 2010. I have metal hoops on my early 70's 20x14" Rogers Powertone kick, and it sounds thunderous! I don't know if the hoops have anything to do with it, but they certainly don't hurt the tone of that drum.

The Remo Chinese pinstripes are passable. But to my ear's, this went from a cheap sounding kit to a pro-level sound with the Remo Emperors. Very nice demo. Thanks

I just wanted to thank you man for this video. I’m a beginner drummer and I’ve been struggling finding the perfect tutorial cus i can’t read drum notation (yet!) and all the other vids go way tooo fast for me. But this tutorial…is awesome. You’re doing something amazing here. I’m a huge fan of the foo fighters (as you can tell I have a whole channel dedicated to them) and when Taylor passed I was CRUSHED. Absolutely crushed. I never grieved so hard for someone I had never even met! My walls are filled with foo posters and I went out to watch studio 666. To see my drum god go destroyed me. Never forget the night i found out it was just a minute after the foos made the announcement I thought it was this big joke…but unfortunately it wasn’t. Anyways once again man, thank you. And Taylor Hawkins forever!

So now everything comes with “flat” toms, eight lug bass drums and six lug floor toms. It took me years to finally accept the eight lug bass drums, but they can keep the flat toms and the six lug floor toms. I’ll just have to continue to buy upper level sets.

16” bass drum??? Sounds fat! Love the low tuning on this!

i bought it in white in Fusion 20. quality is really good for the price and i got stands and SBR cymbals for a grand. even the basic bass pedal and hats pedal feel right. i'm a drum addict and i build my own snare drums. i put all my money into that, cymbals and heads. simply because low end drumsets nowadays are excellent. i don't need more! i'd rather play with cymbals and snares. but once you found the right heads for your toms and BD, sounds incredible! for me the simplest solution was the right one. G1 top and bottom tuned to the same note. low, just take the wrinkles out is where i love them. those toms can sing for real! i like when my toms enter in full beast mode with that tune and heads. i can turn them down by dampening a bit and that's it! but i leave them open. they sing so well. BD i went for single ply EMAD batter with patches + factory Pearl reso head. super punchy. put my Paiste 900s on, my lovely PDP DPCO double pedals and boom! when i pair it with my 14x5 american maple custom snaredrum made by me (it is a high pitch poppy puppy), it sounds big and very Metal. despite the size of the toms. and i still can turn them into Jazz mode if i want. which is a big plus. the best grand i ever spent.

How anyone drums is beyond me. This one song is unbelievably complex....and there's albums upon albums they need to remember
