Vapor Burning Oil Forge Version 2: Old Problems Solved, New Problems Discovered
Version 2 has a better gas seal around the combustion chamber, refractory glue to keep the ceramic wool in place, and a crucible holder made from proper refractory cement. We managed to melt copper in about 40 minutes but I think I could cut that time down significantly by turning it up sooner. If you have any suggestions for improvements please leave a comment.

This is the first prototype of a forge design I've never seen before. While the principle of operation is nothing new. I've never seen it used to make a forge before and hopefully there will be some advantages to this design.

Always use cardboard between crucible and support like fire brick. It will make a fine layer that will prevent the crucible to stick. Look Bigstackd videos.
@pubbvp I have considered that, I don't think that will work with my configuration. The carbon residue would either be blown away or burned up. I could give it a try, but every failed attempt will damage the lid. Thank you for the suggestion, though.
its usful worked well♥
Oh my god I was watching this so seriously cause this is the exact thing that I want to do in my Ranger. That ending caught me so off guard! So funny dude!
I want to clarify this hack will 100% work and not blow up the truck. Been using it for years with no issue.
Really impressive guys! Cant wait to see the upgraded version. Very inventive and cool design!

Wow
burn rate is way too slow, you should test a new propellant formula and maybe use metal powder to make it work
always wanted to make a diesel potato cannon that works off of compression instead of heat but every time i draw it out it ends up way bigger than i want it be
this is pretty sick, you're a really innovative guy
May need to make the nozzle just a metric smaller with the fuel you are using, may decrease burn time but it will put out a good ammount of thrust
That was a good run dude
What ratio did you use for kclo4 and hexamine
140.186 parts Hexamine to 735.3 parts KClO3. You should check out some of my other videos where it burns much better. Also in answering your question I realized I put KClO4 in the title instead of KClO3. I'll fix that now.
nice one, works for me. :D , let's line up.
You mother effffer scared the shitdangos out of me at 4 am 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
hexamine + nitration bath = ?
Yo Wut is the key element of that smoke production ?
I'm not sure what you mean by key element. If I remember correctly, this one was potassium nitrate, newspaper, and a spray of cooking oil.
Tazer?
Yoooooo how am I the only one to comment on this you scared the snot out of me dog I was like bro he found the hack
I should clarify this trick does totally work and won't blow up your car.

Hi! If your interested in using plaster Paris as a nozzle, I recommend checking out my channel. It’s all about test firing rocket motors with plaster Paris nozzles and end caps. I have done 1 inch, 2 inch and 3 inch rocket motors using this method. TIP: next time, put in the plaster directly into the metal tube you are using, so there is no risk of it popping out like it did in this video. Im currently finding out solutions for making the plaster Paris stronger,a and a few solutions I found was using glue and ash to create a higher density and less brittle solution. Im currently creating a 4” diameter rocket motor using rocket candy as fuel, a cardboard shipping tube that is 0.15 thick as a insulator, and a Aluminium 6061 T6 tube that fits snuggly into the other tube. The Aluminium tube keeps the motor together from rapid disassembly and holds the psi. I will be making a video on it soon. Good luck!
Very good what was the rocket mix ??
16% Hexamine 84%KClO3
@@GamerPro132you should try the classic sugar mix. Your burn rate seems to be very sloe
A work of art!
Maybe post modern art. 😄
difficult to get chlorate in the air. I liked it very much!👍
Dude, how did you build that? I want one!
Platinum cell or graphit?? 🤔
Platinum
Maybe try plaster or kitty litter with waterglass/sodium silicate? That should be strong, heat resistant and bind well. Try making some cuts in the inside of the tube to get better adhesion with the nozzle assembly too.
I'm defiantly planning to modify the tube for better adhesion. I'll look into sodium silicate. Do other hobbyists do that?
@@GamerPro132 I honestly don't know if they do or not, but it dries as basically glass and is extremely heat resistant. I know that people grind, then pound kitty litter nozzles into rcandy rockets, but I'm not sure if the pressure from your hexamine fuel would be too high for that.
@@chemistryofquestionablequa6252 I see. Well I'm trying to move away from kitty litter for now as I haven't had much luck with it. But maybe I'll go back to it later. I wonder if the waterglass can mix into plaster I'm using without making it crumble.
@@GamerPro132 it should, but you'd have to try to know for sure. It can be made with that crystal cat litter (silica gel) sodium hydroxide and water. It's useful for all sorts of things, from high temperature glue to keeping eggs fresh for a year without refrigeration if you dip them in it.
nice stuff, good luck on the next run
Hexamine/Urotropin + Hidrogen Peroxide/Acetone + Citric Acid= HMTD Hexamethylene Triperoxide Diamine.
High explosives make for poor rocket fuel.
It's a firework
What is your ratio? I've been experimenting with zinc and sulphur. Also, are you constructing nozzles or pre made?
My ratio is 140 parts hexamine to 735 parts KClO4 by mass. I got this ratio by calculating the stoichiometric ratio and factoring in molecular weight. I'm constructing the nozzles myself right now but I'm still having issues with reliability.
@@GamerPro132 Thank you very much. Are you having blow out issues or pressure/thrust?
@@GamerPro132 p.s. if you're bored, check out the engine fail video my channel. It's uniquely awesome
@@brentseely6113 The nozzle keeps blowing out. I'm still trying to fix it.
@@brentseely6113 That's odd. I don't see it under your videos but I can find it in a playlist you created.
Are you sure you need that much power?
I've done some recent testing with clay and grog nozzles in APCP motors and found that mallet ramming doesn't work very well, if you don't clobber the absolute crap out of the rammer and have something to keep the case from splitting they erode pretty badly, but I did find that adding a small amount of epoxy (clear casting resin) dissolved in acetone helps a lot with that and rams a lot more easily, it seems the epoxy helps with the flow characteristics and locks everything together. I added about 10 mils of clear epoxy resin dissolved in 10 mils of acetone to roughly thirty grams of clay/grog/paraffin nozzle mix and stirred the crap out of it, then did a few cycles of heating until the cup was hot and immediately putting it in a vacuum pot (a $60 ebay pump works fine) to remove all the acetone until the smell was gone, then rammed it with a lead mallet followed by clamping it tight in a bar clamp while it cures sitting over a heat gun. The result is a glass smooth (as smooth as your rammer anyway lol) rock hard nozzle that seems to erode a lot less with a smoother internal surface. I'm going to experiment with adding graphite to it as well, a moldable graphite composite nozzle would be amazing.
im trying to make a chlorate cell but i am a newbie is 6volt 7.5amp good?
That's about what I use. I find at higher power levels the water gets very warm and evaporates away overnight.
@@GamerPro132 What do you use as a power supply? Is it a var battery charger? Is it not 13V then?
Very cool and makeshift :) How much did you get from it? Just one thing though, the electrodes are suuuper far apart here, I bet barely any current is getting through. Make them a little closer to make the cell way more efficient.
I've been getting plenty of yield from it. I actually have a bunch of chlorate in the bottom of the cup rn that I haven't bothered pouring out because I allready have enough for a few more rocket firings stockpiled.
@@GamerPro132 that’s good :) I guess they weren’t too far apart then. You could always move them closer to increase efficiency though. Also how are the electrodes holding up? I know that most platinum electrodes you can buy online especially on eBay are a little bit sketch. By that I mean they add an insanely small amount of platinum and call it a day, which obviously means they won’t last very long. To check if they are ok look for purple/grey dots on the electrodes, if they are dotty then they are damaged most likely.
I've been playing with melt cast ammonium perchlorate/hexamine lately, it's amazing how much power hexamine can provide as a fuel. I like the flames and sparks that comes from burning loose fuel, it's quite pretty. That looked like a great burn, and like everyone else has mentioned a burn rate catalyst will take these rockets to the next level, 1-2% red iron oxide is a good place to start.
how can o avail clay wax for whistle bomb nozzole
I guarantee you its detonable but it would take much more impact than that, Id watch with the level of confinement you give it because DDT is a potential concern; other than that I dont think its that unsafe
a flyback transformer (easily obtained from old CRT TV) would work much better as an igniter
I'm working on a new electric ignition system right now actually. Thanks for the advice.
So I tried using electric arc ignition to get this to go but I never had any luck. My theory is that although the electric arc is much hotter. The ionized air doesn't have enough heat capacity to vaporize and ignite the droplets of diesel as it passes through.
Do a bleach and ammonia one next!
